      Sony has more number of lenses but for quality Fuji has more to cover the areas from 16 to 140 mm with f/2.8 aperture. Fujifilm is the only brand that covers the same lengths which are equivalent to 24-200 mm on full frame cameras with f 2.8 on aspc cameras.

    I went back and forth between these two cameras, they are both really good APS-C options. I did a bunch of my own testing and since I planned to use one of these as my B-cam to do long 4k recordings I did some testing on overheating. In a warm room the A6700 does tend to overheat easier. I tried out both cameras and went with the X-S20, the autofocus misses more than my A7iv and I wish it were weather sealed but I do have a lot of fun with the X-S20. Either would be a good option, I would probably recommend the A6700 if photography is more the use case.
    One thing that impressed me was I had a few things that annoyed me with the Fuji and I noticed that there was a newer firmware. After updating the firmware a bunch of the issues were fixed. Given Sony is kind of lackluster with the firmware support, that was a little reason to go with the Fuji.
    Not sure if it was mentioned but the built in flash that the Fuji has (tbf the Sony has the multi interface hotshoe) I actually used the built in Fuji flash to reflect off ice crystals in the air and it made a beautiful picture.
    Good review, got a sub from me!

      @@ironfur9150 Thank you for the sub! The Flash is unique indeed, especially since most cameras don't have this anymore. The overheating might seem less important, until it starts overheating. In that case, it is nice to know you can add the additional fan to the X-S20. Just in case; I have separate reviews on these 2 cameras as well! Where can I see your crystal picture? @ironfur9150 could you give more feedback about your user experience with the X-S20 so far?
      So far I'm about to buy either the A6700 or the X-S20. The most appealing feauture for the A6700 for me is the weather-sealing and the Autofocus. No doubt I would love not having to worry about moisture, light rain and dust/sand while traveling. On the other hand the most appealing feature for the X-S20 are the film simulations, as most users report the "creativity" it brings out and probably the better lenses of Fuji (especially the XF 70-300 compared to SEL 70-350G).
      What has changed since the video are the prices. I could go with the kit lense + 70-350 for the A6700 under 2k new (or as good as new lenses) while the X-S20 with the kit lense + 70-300 would be beyond 2.4k in Germany.. The discounts on the A6700 are huge atm and this makes the X-S20 with the lacking weather-sealing not that appealing anymore...

    The comparable sony lens to the xf 16-55mm is the sony 16-55 f/2.8 G aps-c lens, not the full-frame 24-70mm GM. With the 16-55 G lens, the total price for both cameras would be basically identical.

    • @cameradeals
      @cameradeals  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah that would've been a better comparison, lens wise. Still the Sony lens is $100 pricier, where the body is too. So it adds up in the end.

    • @gillesmatheronpro
      @gillesmatheronpro 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      May I add one major information ? Thank you...
      The Sony 16-55 mm f/2.8 G is a diamond !
      When I purchased my FX30, the initial idea was to buy the Sigma. And I started my search for camera/lens some 5 months earlier, so time was on my side and I had plenty of it because I already had a good camera, then could have waited some more if needed.
      When in the shop, there was plenty of choice on the lenses side.
      I had my computer, with my own images, and my existing camera.
      With the FX30, I filmed several sequences, inside and outside, snapped several RAW images as well.
      Had a look on my screen, and decided to go home to take more time. But also to verify what I thought was me having the wrong impressions.
      Well no... all of the tests I read and watched confirmed it : this Sony mid-range zoom is rated "G" when it should be a "GM", and by a large margin. It is absolutely superb, from edge to edge, from largest to smallest aperture, with all switches and controls, it gets recognized by Sony cameras and works better than 3rd party lenses for this reason.
      As soon as I finished processing/correcting my first portrait (because it also is a great photographic tool) I stopped and stared at my screen, speechless and stunned.
      Sigma produced a nice little do-it-all lens, no doubt. Sony created a unique and nearly perfect photographic tool, on par with lenses sold three times its price.
      Do the test yourself, consider all elements, and you'll see why this "little" zoom is a GMaster in a smaller shell.

    Thanks for your great job! I know it was a hassle so thank you! What significantly lacks here is the low light performance comparison. It is one of the main questions for people choosing apsc cameras and it was the least disclosed. No comparison of lowlight in video modes. Also it is a great question whose log has better dynamic range. This question also remains unanswered. Hope you will cover these too. And I'm begging you to compare Sony a6700 with Canon R8. I tested and reviewed the Canon EOS R8 as well (only written), but for me, it is not a video camera at all. It does have 4K 60fps UHD, but no IBIS. I see it more as a beginner full frame camera for photography, with some video options, which you outgrow quick because of the lack of dials and options. Thanks for the video! Answered every question I have. Only thing tipping me Sony is weather sealing & AF. How important is weather sealing really? I'd probably not even take out a weather sealed camera in the rain, but it does gets quite dusty where I am.
    Everything else for me leans towards X-S20 as I want a video camera I can grow into (eventually external 12 bit). I'm also considering a used X-H2s which would have weather sealing but is quite more expensive. I mainly shoot cars, portraits here and there, and sports (AF has let me down). I also want to lean into cinematic style vlogs & travel vidoes. Basically looking for a one size fits all solution. Thanks!

      @cameradeals  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thank you for your kind words! Looking at what you are looking for, especially the sports part, I might go for the Sony as it has way better and faster autofocus. Personally, I barely take my waterproof cameras out, but I did film a lot in deserts, meaning lots of dust and sand. In that case, you do want a weather sealed camera, so the dust doesn't get in. Might be even worse for your camera than few water drops. If you think you will be in the dust a lot, I would upgrade to a weather sealed camera. Hope this helps :)

      After stopping by a camera store, they had wonderful deals and I went on a special sale day. Felt both bodies in hand, the X-S20's screen although better in resolution, in my opinions feels "cheaper" with thicker bezels, and I couldn't see much of a difference. There were also Sigma and Tamron reps who let me try both the 18-50mm 2.8 and Tamron 17-70 2.8. Ended up trading in X-T30ii, 18-55, xc50-230(don't use), for an A6700, V90 card, sigma 18-50.

I hope these two doesn't overheat because when recording covers, sometimes retakes take a long time! I need my takes to be perfect so I do it again and again.
    In the future, I'll probably be taking photos of my friends playing in a band. I have the budget for one of these two, so I don't need to go lower tier.

      Hi! Both of them are great for shooting video. Sony clearly has better autofocus than Fujifilm, though. Overheating will be less likely in lower resolutions, but if you’ll go for the highest bitrates in 4K, it is more likely to happen. Something additional to consider is that a6700 records video with gyro data. This means you have additional option to apply gimbal level stabilization to your video shots which is technically better than a camera's Ibis + eis combo.
    Often overlooked in comparison, but I do say it is a big factor to me as this feature alone keeps me from buying a gimbal just to shoot fluid and non-jittery motion.

In outdoor light the it is very good, but in extremely dim light it hunts and I have taken a some photos that were blurred because it was out of focus, and I am also using the orange focusing aid light. This focusing problem also happens in my A6600. I have occasionally taken photos at ISO 100,000. The photo are acceptable.

      This issue really depends on the lenses you use and the circumstances. I've used cameras like the Canon EOS R5, Nikon Z8 and Z9 and those will hunt as well at a certain point (when there is not enough light). Normally, I would recommend turning off autofocus if there is not enough light and just focus manually.

    Many thanks, your sub is earned! Being a video guy mainly, I got the A6700 in the end. It's annoying cos the Fuji is a nicer body I think and a cooler device all round, but the Sony AF is just voodoo compared to everyone else's.
    It's kind of frustrating cos I do have a blackmagic recorder and could record BRAW too with Fuji, and plenty of the specs of the XS20 are just better and the image is very nice. But in the end, the main thing over the years that has cost me shots in both video and stills has been AF, and when people view your images they don't see the specs, but they do see if it's in focus or not 🤣
    If only Fuji could nail the AF properly I would have gone that way...

    there is a problem here. You're comparing image quality using good lens on one side and bad lens on the other side. I switched from Sony A7iii to Fuji X-s20. I can tell you if you want amazing colors to start with or you like filmic looks, then Fuji is no brainer, I wouldnt go any other brand. It is also affordable system with affordable lenses.
    The only time you wanna go Sony is if you dont care too much about colors or style and you just wanna take a picture of something and move on. Sony is a bit more reliable in terms of focus. Dont get me wrong Fuji also reliable but not the eye AF, you must use single point AF, which feels like a bit behind. Personally I am fine using single point AF and dont need eye AF for photos.
    So bottom line, you want affordable system with stunning colors, and a bit behind focus system, go fuji.
    want want reliable system, a bit more expensive, colors are okay but something is off about them, then go Sony
    you want decent colors, very expensive, and reliable system ? go canon.

    Great video. Rotterdam is just so photogenic.
    One question: I was getting advice in a pro shop today, because I wanted to get the XS-20.
    He told me that for videography I should for sure take the a6700, because of the WAY better autofocus and WAAAYYY better IBIS.
    Can you confirm that? I was hoping that the shaky IBIS got fixed with software updates already.

    • @cameradeals
      @cameradeals  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The autofocus of the A6700 is better than on the X-S20, and on the X-S20 I notice it is searching for focus from time to time. I think IBIS performance is more or less the same on both cameras. Now, I am not used to using ibis or autofocus on cameras and therefore think it doesn't really matter. It is good to practice your manual focus pulling. But of course it depends what you use the camera for. If it is for vlogging, the autofocus of the A6700 is better, but the X-S20 has good AF too.

The A6700 has the 4K 120fps option, where the R8 maxes out at 4K 60fps. Quality wise you can get a lot fromr the R8 as well, but the camera in general focusses more on photography. Hi. I'm sorry to see you feel so bad about it.
      1. It is good to know it costs me more time and money than I make of the channel. Which are literary a few dollars. I am making these reviews because I am passionate about them. No brand sponsors me, pays me or tells me what to say about the cameras. The sponsoring or affiliate links that you do find here, don't even make up for the money I spend on these reviews.
      2. I wonder: have you actually tried both cameras for a long time?
      3. These cameras are not meant for professional use, where you shoot commercials or weddings. Even then, the X-S20 would work fine as manual focus should be used. In professional work, you never use AF, always manual AF. Losing your job is on you.
      4. I own the X-S20 and have used the A6700 a lot. So I know what I'm talking about with these, and other, cameras.
      5. Just because you don’t like it, doesn't mean the world around you is telling bs. Not everything is a conspiracy or fake.
