Easily the best X-S20 review I've watched on youtube, thanks! You did a really great job of explaining the strengths and weaknesses of this camera very thoroughly.
Thank you for the kind comment! Motivates me extra to try to keep this quality up! I'd be a great help if you'd subscribe to the channel and share the video, that how it could get more views as well. If you already did, thank you so much! :D
Ever since I picked up that little guy for a trip, I haven't picked up any of my heavier, more expensive Nikon gear. The XS20 is a great little camera that can do so much for its size. The film simulations remind me of the days shooting with film. My next goal.... XT5, or their medium format. Maybe I don't need my Nikons anymore.
I'm thinking about going to Sony or Fujifilm (now I'm using Canon), mostly because both Fuji and Sony fully opened the mounts to third party lenses and both try to make small good cameras. Fuji give us better specs for the same price, but with APSC sensor. Sony is pricier for the same specs, but with full frame. I'll wait until 2025 to decide one system. Now I'll start selling my Canon gear.
@@amermeleitor Canon opened up as well to 3rd party mounts, but is quite behind other brands. In 2025 the A6700 will be way cheaper and might even have a follow-up.
Such an incredible video!! Few months ago, I bought a Fujifilm X-S20 thanks to the review on Camera Deals website. Today I can confirm once again that you really helped to know which camera was the best for me. Congratulations and please continue creating videos to make these decisions easier.
Thanks a million for the shoutout! I worked really hard on this review and it means a lot to hear that it's the best you've seen. Stay tuned for more camera reviews coming your way!
As long as you dont travel anywhere with dust, sand, humidity, ice or rain I totally agree. I want this camera with weather sealing. Take my money Fujifilm!
It could be great to see the stabilization in different ways, not only in static, to compare with other APS-C cameras in the same range. We all know the power of micro4/3 in that way, Lumix and OM are the kings but I really want a good stabilization in a bigger sensor to not to have more than one camera. In other videos the stabilization walking is dramatic, and idk if that was resolved in a firmware update or not. I think Sony 6700 has the same problem but i really like to see in a real situation
Yeah I could have done that better. I'm comparing the X-S20 to the X-T50 now, with better tests, and the video will be out soon. You could sub if you'd like to see it! :)

@@-windycitysammy- The X-T5 uses a 40MP sensor and the X-S20 a 26MP. The X-T5 is higher-end overall, and if you'd like to use those extra pixels, I would go for the X-T5.
@@cameradeals so with the extra megapixels, is the main advantage for this cropping? or is the image a whole lot better, punchier, more depth? don’t know if it’s worth the extra money.
@@-windycitysammy- In general, it is more powerful than the X-S20. There are more differences, and after I release the X100VI review, I will start editing the X-T5, where I compare it to the X-S20 too. But, this might take a little while.
Some people are reporting camera overheating even when only taking stills. That's outdoors and in warmer climates. I wish someone did a test in these conditions. Btw. this is not a critique of your test.
Hi! That is very interesting it overheats even when taking stills. In the months I've been using the camera, I haven't had these problems, but like you said, that happened in warmer environments. :) I'll keep testing the camera, and if I notice it overheats when it gets warmer over here, I'll let it know here. I might make another video about it. Thanks for the comment! :)
i am so torn in between x-t5 and x-s20. In my area they cost almost the same. I shoot mostly photo but also interested in learning video recording and coloring. Which would you advice? style doesnt matter much
Soon I'll get the X-T50 in for review, and I haven't tested it yet. But, looking at the specs, I would say the X-T50 is leaning more towards photography, while the X-S20 focuses more on hybrid users. With the X-S20, you also pay for extra movie features. In that case, I would go for the X-T50, if you are going to focus on photography :). In my review, I will also compare these two cameras. So, stick around if you'd like to see that :D (sub!)
The Xs20 and a6700 cost the same where I am, which would you recommend to an intermediate photographer / beginner videographer? Btw great video, loved the little information bubbles! (I should add i’m no professional, just someone who enjoys documenting their life)
Being able to film 4K 120fps could be an important factor in choosing the A6700 (+ weather resistance). The X-S20 at the other hand has better photography options (like 20/30fps burst and higher shutter speeds and film simulations). The film simulations are such a great way to have a good-looking filter, without the instant need to edit (for both film and photography). If they were the same price where I live, I would pick the A6700 because I love slowmotion. That slowmotion has a heavy crop, though, and Sony lenses are pricey. My next uploads this month (March '24) will be the A6700 in-depth review and after the X-S20 vs A6700 comparison with lots of tests. In the comparison, I will go in-depth on these cameras and the pros and cons. Probably it will help you to decide which one is best for you. So please Subscribe if you'd like to get an update :)
Hi @cameradeals ... first of all, great video on this camera. I am thinking about selling my Canon m6ii and replacing it with this fuji x-s20. At 11:15 you talk about this camera beeing a "true hybrid camera" meaning that in manual mode you can shoot photos and videos just by pressing the dedicated button. This is a feature witch I realy miss on my camera as it will only shoot in Videos in full automatic mode, when I am in the manual photo mode. So just a little follow up question so I can make my decision: when you have set all the setting like shutter speed, iso, aperture etc. you can either take a photo by pressing the button or shoot a video with the exact same setting by pressing the record button? This would make my life so much easier. TIA
Hi! I retested this for you: if you start filming from the photo mode it jumps in a sort of auto-mode. Auto iso, Shutter and aperture. The only thing you can change are the quality and framrate. That is less usefull than actually being able to complete control all settings.
@@cameradeals Hi again, thanks for taking this extra time to test it for me. It's unfortunate that it doesn't work, but I guess that's a functionality that no camera has. I don't really understand why no camera manufacturer thinks about that because for me personally it's total logical to be able to shoot both photo and video in one mode or at least that the shutter speed etc. will be the same in the other mode. Thanks for testing and have a good one 😌
Hi, loved the video, lot of variety and fun, after using the X-s20 since last july I can name a few more cons that I have come accross (all your positive points still stand though, note im also mainly a sony camera user) The First was the autofocus being a bit eratic or slow sometimes, the focus modes in video is not great, either a tiny square or just the whole scene, felt like sony a7s original in terms of useabillity in af. Second is camera often got hot or even crashed when browsing menus, very strange, sometimes odd laggy behavior, otherwise the menus are fine, if not maybe a few seemingly hidden options. Third is using an external recorder, when you focus the camera or zoom in to check focus when using the external recorder, the feed will lag or the image will zoom in as well. Not great. Lastly the camera seems very stubburn to not want to change settings sometimes, when you hit record theres very few things you can change on the fly, shutter speed, iso or aperature yes but not white balance, focus mode or type of stabilisation - all features you can change mid recording on a6700 - even picture profile! I film a lot of long plays and shows with a three camera set up, the xs20 is amazing for that in 6.2k on a tripod with either my diy fan (video on my channel) or the ulanzi stick on fan with an elastic band attached. The footage matches up well enough with my sony cameras and is very clear. I also love how compact the camera is and how retro it looks. But as a hybrid shooter with a lot of run and gun work its not my go to, as a backup or creative camera its awesome though! Cheers, Axel
First of all, thank you! You make some valid points. I haven't been able to test the camera with an external recorder yet. The camera getting how when browsing menus almost seems like something is wrong with your specific model, could that be? Thanks for the extra info, hope to see you soon again!
Also a great choice! In my years of filming outside, I always protected my weather proof gear and cameras when there was the tiniest bit of rain. So I wonder how important it really is. But that is really a person choice/opinion of course:)
I like the Fujifilm XS 20 and would buy it if and when I can afford it. But it's (almost) criminal for a camera costing this much and not weather sealed!
