    This is the one that I have been waiting for since the beginning, as it lends itself perfectly for low level, fast and fun flying. Can’t wait to get my hands on it!

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah well I strongly suspect the wait will be worth it then Andy! As you say, I think the Hawk fits superbly into the sim - ideal for enjoying MSFS at what it does best, but also a decent study level offering at the same time.
      Shouldn’t have to wait too long now! All the best : )

  • @AngryPrawn
    @AngryPrawn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I am exceedingly jealous. I check every bloody day to see if it has been released. I'm so pleased to see that it lives up to expectations. The flight model especially looks far more 'alive' than the Goshawk.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha, well I do feel very fortunate that I got to take this one up for a bit of an early joy ride! I was checking my emails every day, to see if there was anything from Just Flight XD
      Shouldn’t be too long to wait now and yes, it certainly lived up to my expectations (which I was really happy to see)! I think the aircraft is pretty much ready to go, but Just Flight are waiting to see how the next sim update unfolds.
      Not to bash the Goshawk, but the Hawk feels leaps and bounds better in the flight model department. People have pointed out to me that the T-45 is heavier and underpowered etc - but it always felt like a bit of a truck and rather lacking in control authority. Not a particularly “fun” jet to fly (though it’s still a nice product overall).
      All the best! : )

      Ah well I expect you’ll enjoy this one all the more then! I’m sure it’ll be nice to sit in the cockpit of an aircraft you grew up with, even if it is virtually. Just Flight have done a lovely job with the Hawk, so I think you’ll find it’s been worth the wait. Shouldn’t be too long now!

    Wow I was so excited to see this! It means it's even closer to release! I've been watching this development since it was announced! Can't wait to fly it from RAF Valley, round the Mach loop and then some ILS missed approaches at Liverpool - exactly what I've seen them doing for years! It looks absolutely spot on and kudos to JF for releasing yet another perfect addon! Their Arrow is still the best aircraft in the sim imo. Keep up the good work with these top quality videos too!

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, shouldn’t be too long now Rob - a week or two most likely! I believe the aircraft is more or less ready to go, Just Flight are just holding off a little, to see how things pan out with the next sim update (makes sense).
      Once again it is indeed a very high quality product from the JF team. They really seem to have upped their game in MSFS (not that was lacking before). Great to see and the Hawk is a real joy as a result. You’ll be bothering the Liverpool traffic before you know it! ; )
      Glad you’re enjoying the content. Thanks very much and all the best! : )

    Nice - already looks like this is the best fast jet in msfs. Really glad you spent some time exploring the performance envelope and going into some detail.
    Happy to see you fly out of Aberporth too, I love the area IRL and it's my "home" airfield in msfs.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, easily the best fast jet in the sim to date. With the exception of the flight model lacking a bit at the extremes, the JF Hawk very much feels like it could slip into DCS nicely.
      I like Aberporth as a little base of operations for visiting the Mach Loop. It’s a nice short easy run up the coast, the airfield has a bit of character and the runway is just long enough to accommodate most aircraft. Surprised I haven’t bumped into you there then haha.
      Cheers Roland, hope you’re doing well! : )

      Haha, don’t get me started on the VEAO one Dan. I purchased that module, only for it to be pulled about 2 weeks later. Never even got the chance to fly it : /
      It’s a shame; an aircraft like the Hawk would be such good fun in DCS (both for combat and formation flying etc). The Just Flight Hawk feels like it could slip right into DCS for the most part.
      The wait shouldn’t be too much longer now. Hopefully only a week or two (I think it really depends on how many surprises the new sim update throws up).
      My pleasure on the video. Thanks very much and “smoke on” haha! : D

    Pleasure to watch, as always. I can't wait, I nearly wore out the F5 key waiting for this until I realised nothing would happen before SU6. Can't begin to say how excited I am to see someone has their hands on a preview copy so it's nearly here ! :) JF's preview startup video started with some mucking about in the back cockpit, nice to see that seems to be optional :) Bit scary to see that a run around the loop and some aerobatics used a third of a tank of gas, just like the goshawk (who'd have imagined ...) this isn't something you'd want to plan a long tour in !

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks very much once again ceegnz! Glad you enjoyed it.
      Haha, I was doing the same with my emails; hitting refresh far too often, to see whether or not I had received anything from Just Flight XD
      As you rightly guessed, I think JF are holding off to see what state the sim is in after the next update, but otherwise I believe the aircraft is more or less ready to go. Shouldn’t have to wait too long now!
      There is a tiny bit of mucking around in the back required if you plan to start from cold and dark; but as a bare minimum, you can get away with only flicking 2 switches.
      I was cracking around everywhere at 400kts to be fair and the fuel figures might be slightly off due to flying a couple of scenes twice / using active pause etc; but overall your assessment sounds about right - it probably was about 1/3rd of a tank, for a relatively short trip. Definitely not going to be setting any endurance records in the little Hawk haha.
      All the best! : )

    Anther wonderful vid. I particularly enjoyed the footage from the rear cockpit. I am really enjoying the existing Goshawk in the sim so I could feel my wallet getting lighter watching your review for this one. Its really lovely to hear the words 'study level' more often with these reviews. Many thanks.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks very much once again Terry!
      If you’re enjoying the Goshawk, I’m sure you will love the Hawk. Haha, I’m afraid the wallet might take a bit of a hit, but worth every penny in my opinion.
      Indeed, the sim does seem to be finding its feet re decent addons etc now. “Study level” can often be somewhat subjective, but (minus the flight model needing some work at the extremes perhaps) it certainly ticked all the boxes for me!
      Cheers, all the best : )

    Brilliant video, just makes me more excited to get it now. I said to Just Flight that the cockpit "smells" like a military jet. Looking at the details and texture it evokes that fuel/oil/metal smell that you get in a military jet. I hope it feels that real when I get my VR headset on. So looking forward to flying it. Thanks for the smoke pass, that was epic! 👌👍

I really like the cockpit of the Hawk, haven’t tried it in VR yet myself mind you. If you’ve picked it up, hope you’re enjoying it! Super vid again 👍. Looks like the bar will be set higher again with the release of the Hawk ( which is great news for MSFS , in my opinion ) . I was wearing my headphones while watching the vid , and gotta say that the sounds were fantastic ( especially the turbine spool up 👍) . Goes to show , you can have the highest quality visual details , but the sound package can either make or break an add on , in my opinion .

    • @justflight
      @justflight 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you sir! Glad you enjoyed it : )
      Indeed; in my opinion, the Hawk does rather raise the bar once again. The sounds are excellent and certainly “make” the aircraft. I never used to be too bothered by sounds, but I’ve come to realise just how crucial they are. Not only do they add a lot of atmosphere and make an addon feel more alive / immersive, but they are also one of the only ways we can actually get feedback from the aircraft. I’ve got to the point now, where if I flick a switch and I don’t hear anything, it just kills the experience for me haha.
      All the best!

    This released yesterday (Friday 22nd October 2021 over at Just flight) she is amazing spent nearly all friday night getting to grips with this fantastic and classic fast jet trainer. @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well thanks very much indeed Jay! I certainly try my best to produce decent videos, so it’s always really great to hear when someone is enjoying the content.
      I’ve flown quite a mix of different aircraft types over the years, but spent most of my time on the single engine GA stuff previously (PA28, C152 etc). For my day job I’m on the Airbus (of which I have flown a couple of members of the family over the years). Sadly I’ve never flown anything quite as exciting as the Hawk though haha. That’s one of the reasons I love the sim; at least I get to try out all of these amazing machines (that I’ll probably never get the chance to fly) in some capacity - it’s great fun to learn how they work at the very least.

    Finally an aircraft that is alive, both in sound and moving through the air. Initial impression was maybe too much alive, as a weapon platform and tight formation in Red Arrows.
    - But - Checking real life in cockpit videos - Just Flight is very close to real life, a bit softer and it would be spot on.
    I own a similar aircraft in M$F$. It was a kind of meh -- After an hour flight I put it permanently in the hangar. This Hawk is huge step forward.

      Indeed Øystein, the Hawk certainly feels very much more alive than most MSFS aircraft. I get the impression Just Flight have done the best that they can, within the bounds of the sim; the flight model isn’t perfect perhaps, but it’s really rather good overall (at least it feels that way to me).
      Yeah, I enjoyed “the other Hawk” in its own way, but saw it more as a “systems trainer”. To fly, it didn’t feel great and the external sounds were always lacking. The Hawk is a totally different beast though!

Found the control column curious in that the joystick and column could move independently of one another. Also, wasnt sure what the LCD type panel (or at least I think thats what is) in the centre of the cockpit was for - a GPS?. Looks a really nice aircraft with great audio and one I think i'll go for when it releases on the the strength of this excellent preview :-). Thanks James, my pleasure as always! Glad you enjoyed it.
      The control column is somewhat unusual, but not unique. The Spitfire is similar for example. Maybe it’s a British thing haha. The unit at the front of the cockpit is indeed a GPS. It just uses the sims default GPS system. The unit can be removed if desired - obviously it sits rather in the way otherwise.
      Well, it shouldn’t be too long to wait before it releases. I believe the aircraft is more or less ready to go; I think Just Flight are holding off to see how the next sim update pans out first. If you do pick it up, I hope you enjoy it (and I think you will)!

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, just Flight have done a really nice job with it! There were a number of occasions where I was looking at it on screen and honestly would have believed it was real, if I hadn’t of known otherwise.
      Everything in the sim during the video was stock (with the exception of the Hawk of course). Settings-wise, I have things setup pretty simply: Everything is on “High-End” except I turn Motion Blur off. I also turn off AI Traffic and I’ve recently taken to turning off Road Traffic as well (I like the effect, but there are too many flying cars at the moment haha). I’m running at 1080p with FPS locked at 60.
      Nothing special with my settings really, but I’ve come to realise that lighting conditions / weather are what really makes the sim look good or bad. Generally I like to use live weather, but for videos I’ll occasionally tweak the weather to give the desired effect (as I did here). I think in a funny way that TH-cam compression also makes the sim look better in the video than it does in reality - it tends to “smooth” out a lot of the blemishes.
      Hope that helps a bit. All the best! : )

      I actually reinstalled the MB339 and the T-45 recently. I’d forgotten just how good the 339 is! Great fun. The T-45 is decent, but the flight model never felt quite right to me. Even if it is accurate, I don’t find the T-45 all that “fun” to fly, based on how it handles. I gather the T-45 is both heavier and underpowered vs the Hawk and boy can you tell (if these simulations are anything to go by)! The Hawk is an excellent aircraft though, a joy in almost every respect.
      Apparently Just Flight have been having some issues getting their products allowed onto the Marketplace (at least that’s the rumours I’ve heard); laughable, given the quality of some of the other stuff that makes it onto there. . .

    The main instrument panel seems oddly 2D to me. Looking back at your Goshawk video, the T-45's cockpit modelling seemed more three dimensional. I'm sure the sky conditions may have something to do with it, but that is what jumped out at me.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting shipdriver. That wasn’t really something I felt / noticed myself at the time. The lighting probably plays a part as you say; I think the Hawks panel is somewhat more 2D, with the lack of a full HUD and the UFC. Looking at the real world Hawk, it does have quite a flat main panel (though maybe the Just Flight version is a little more 2D than the real world cockpit). Whilst the Hawk and the T-45 are broadly the same airframe and systems, the cockpits are quite different overall.
      I have to say, I really like the cockpit of the JF Hawk, but maybe that’s just me haha.

    I’ve watched 2 of these vids now on the T1. The engine start sounds are a bit lacking. The adour in the Hawk makes a very distinctive sound when it starts up. It’s hard to describe but it’s a very deep growl/hum. Apart from that it looks & sounds very nice.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be fair, some of that may be down to me having to reduce the volume, to balance out the sound levels for the video. Certainly early on in the start process, you do get that growl and it sounds really good too. It tails off after a few seconds though - I’m not sure how accurate that is vs the real Adour?
      The engine sounds could certainly still be improved (there a bit of a lack of “growl” when the aircraft is viewed front-on etc), but overall I think the aircraft sounds great and is definitely one of the strongest modules in the sim currently re the sounds.

      Hi John,
      The main technique I find that helps, is to use braking initially (as opposed to rudder), to keep it on the centreline. Rudder authority is virtually nonexistent initially and nosweheel steering seems to lock-out at quite low speed. Unless I need a big correction, I just dab the brakes, otherwise it was just a case of practice and getting a feel for the aircraft.

The Goshawk is a nice enough addon, but the flight model still feels a bit strange to me (it has been pointed out that the Goshawk is heavier and underpowered compared with the Hawk, but even if the flight model is accurate, it makes the aircraft less “fun” to fly). Really in just about every respect, the Hawk is the superior product.

      Hi Colin,
      Indeed - funnily enough I didn’t notice it so much at the time (as the aircraft was getting a bit bumped around anyway) but I definitely noticed the same behaviour when watching the footage back. I’m afraid I have no idea where the issue lies in the sim; the Hawk’s flight model does seem like a step in the right direction overall though.
      I guess (hope) the sim will get to where we want it to be incrementally; I certainly wish we were seeing more work from Asobo to address the issues that we all know exist though - a lot of the updates tend to be fixing niff naff it seems.

      Hi Rene,
      Probably not the answer you were hoping for, but the Hawk is a significantly better product in my opinion. It depends on what one is looking for of course though. The two aircraft are broadly the same in terms of texturing and modelling. The Hawk’s sounds are vastly superior, as is its systems modelling. Flight modelling is a bit trickier to judge (as the two airframes aren’t identical), but the Hawk seems to have a significant advantage there as well (in my opinion). The Hawk also comes with basic weapons implementation as well as a smoke pod. The T-45 has the bonus of being carrier capable (when that’s eventually implemented in the sim). If you’re just looking to have some fun, the T-45 is decent; the Hawk is a much more “study level” jet overall though. I’ll be happy to answer any more questions if you want to know specifics.

      I’m sure a lot of people will be in the same boat: The T45 and the Hawk are roughly on a par when it comes to the modelling and texturing. They’re close on systems modelling, though the Hawk seemingly has more depth. Where the Hawk really wins out is with the sounds and the flight model. Both a vastly superior vs the T45 in my opinion. I like the simplicity of the airfield, it has a bit of character and it’s a nice short run up the coast to get to the Mach Loop. I nearly went with RAF Valley for the video, which would of course have been more realistic, but I just didn’t fancy it in the end. As Just Flight mention themselves, you can indeed. It can be switched out for a gunsight, or removed altogether : )
      Cheers!

    I’m going to rip this around the mach loop, until my hotas breaks or my gpu explodes.

      Hahaha - that’s what we like to hear! : D
      Hopefully your virtual jet pipe overheats before your GPU does though - it’ll be a lot cheaper to fix : P
      All the best! : )

    Love the way it looks, sounds and flies, from what I can see. But please tell me there's a way to get rid of that stupid big black thing right in your face, because that's going to drive me nuts in VR..lol. It doesn't seemto do anything useful either.. it's just there blocking your view!

      Sorry for the slow reply Payt, your message got hidden away in my "held for review" folder - TH-cam censoring getting carried away there haha.
      I'm sure you've figured it out by now, but it's a GPS unit and it can indeed be removed (and also switched out for a gunsight).
      All the best! : )

      Hi Carlos,
      The Hawk will cost £32.99 on release. A 25% discount will be available for those who previously purchased the FSX / P3D version of the aircraft through Just Flight.
      All the best : )

    flew bad for me.. instant left turn on takeoff. and very springy flight characteristics. unflyable in it's current form. very uncomfortable. hope they fix the stiffness.

      It doesn't fly bad for others. If you think there's an issue report it to our support team who will look into it with the dev team but be aware the things you report aren't apparent for many others who are up flying and loving the experience.

      Hi Ray,
      Very sorry to hear that! That behaviour does sounds rather odd, certainly doesn’t echo my experiences with the aircraft. One thing that springs to mind (and apologies if I’m stating the obvious to you), have you got your sim flight model set to “Modern”? Having it set to “Legacy” can often cause a lot of strange behaviours, such as the ones you’ve described here.
      Hope that helps maybe? All the best!

    Great effort, Into!
    As always a very comprehensive and informative preview and this jet is definitely on my must-have list after I save up for the DC-6 from PMDG.
    I hope you'll be able to stow the annoying tablet-looking equipment blocking the view straight-ahead! Even if it's correctly modelled.
    Keep up the good work!

      Thanks very much Wikstrom, really glad you enjoyed the video.
      The Hawk is well worthy of being on such a list (in my opinion at any rate). No worries on the GPS, it can indeed be removed (as Just Flight mentions); it can be swapped out for a gunsight, or removed altogether.
      Thanks again and all the best! : )
