  • Join me at RAF Valley (EGOV) in Wales as we take the upcoming Just Flight Hawk T1/A Advanced Trainer for a spin.
    We’ll be flying the Hawk T1 Royal Air Force 4 FTS, Welsh Dragon livery variant (XX172) from RAF Valley South to the Mach Loop, an area well known for the use of low-level flight training.
    Once we’ve flown round the Machynlleth Loop we’ll switch to LIVE weather to test my instrument flying skills, returning to RAF Valley to fly the TACAN DME ARC onto ILS RW13 followed by a visual circuit to land.
    Please bear in mind I have no experience of flying fast jets in any simulator!

    THIS STREAM IS NOT TO BE USED FOR REAL WORLD FLIGHT TRAINING
    The primary purpose of this stream is to give you the opportunity to see how a Real 737 Captain operates a desktop simulated aircraft in real time using real world operating procedures.
    Whilst every effort is made to accurately replicate the way the aircraft is flown based on my experience as an Airline Captain and Type Rating Instructor, this is purely for entertainment only.
    If you happen to be a line pilot or training pilot you must not follow the guidance in this livestream, it is purely for non-professional computer simulated flight. Only consult your approved material from your respective operator.
    Personal questions and queries regarding my employment status will not be answered.

    You NEED to get Tim from Fastjetperformance to fly the hawk with you and teach you some tricks, you two would be super cool to listen to and see how the airline world differs from the airforce!! Airforce legend meets airline legend...

    It’s worth watching a guy called cgaviator (I think) too - former hawk pilot and the level of precision and crazy navigation on the fly is amazing to see

    The small airfield EGOD is Llanbedr - its closed. I flew from it few times during my time in.

    Nice one! The Localiser is offset to the right at Valley, you always need to be visual with the runway before you frighten the officers in the mess! I just wish they had done the T2, with Moving Map and multi function DDI?

    Very informative video, it’s not every day you see someone hand flying a dme arc followed by a circling approach IN A Hawk!! Amazing!! I know how demanding that must have been, now I’ve gotta have a go at it myself :))

      It's a piece of wee wee. Not perhaps for a REAL 737 pilot but a mil stude is expected to hack a DME arc within about 10/15 flying hours.

    FJs usually fly at multiples of 60 kits, just for mental DR. So, 360 or 420 kts is standard.

    It would be nice to see this module back in Digital Combat Simulator (as VEAO Simulations left and took the code for their version of the Hawk)

    Interesting. Look at that accelerometer, how much -ve g? If I remember, I'll have a bash with a 737 model. For real, I have flown similar profiles in yer actual RAF Hawks and C 130c and JPs... And as a pax in one of those yellow shaky death machines!

    VOR/TAC is a collocated VOR and TACAN. So you get the VOR bearing plus the TACAN/DME range,

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes sometimes use VORTAC's en-route, does a TACAN on its own provide bearing information for military aircraft or is it always only DME?
      FD2S

    • @christopherfinn7986
      @christopherfinn7986 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flightdeck2sim TACAN provides bearing, using a different system (physically or electronically rotated aerial) from VOR. DME element is integral. TACAN can also be used in an air-to-air mode, usually for tanker rvs (buddy-buddy, or with a big tanker). We also used it to fly at low level over the sea at night, in 10 mile TACAN trail between two pairs or threes, each in close formation ! Chris

    The role rates seem to be really touchy. It would be really cool to see this compared with the X plane version.

      I agree the scenery doesn´t look great. It´s a missed opportunity, especially with the JF Hawk now available. It would be amazing if Asobo or someone else could handcraft the area around Mach Loop since obviously lots of people will be doing low level flying there in the Hawk.

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wouldn't have known any different, loved at least flying over where the Mach Loop is in reality! Maybe someone will make an improved scenery for that area in time!
