    GREAT VIDEO! Thank you SO much! It was GREAT to meet you at LBX!

    As someone who provides technical support for a living, I appreciate how you [Steve] do not take an adversarial or condescending tone here when talking about your interaction with the LB developers. We all need to realize that LBX was not the "Lightburn Support Experience". The devs were there to get to know the people that use their software, to show us that they appreciate us, and to relax a bit. There is no way they can know every possible way every person may try to use the tool they created. But, I'm sure they are back into "production & resolution" mode now and are taking your challenges and comments seriously.
    They have the same # of hours in their days as we do and although we may have frustrations with aspects of LB, they have done a fantastic job with it. If anything, we may be spoiled by how well it works versus how little it costs and easy it to use (most of the time).
    Thank you Steve for the great explanation and video!

    Sounds reasonable to me. Great work !! Maybe Light Burn should hire you to rethink their program !!

    Hey Steve. Remember our discussion a while ago about losing the tab/slot dimensions when you change the size of the object. If you have a 4” cube with 3mm slots/tabs and select all and increase this to a 5” cube, the slots/tabs are no longer 3mm. It would be great to be able to “freeze” the size of the slots/tabs when changing the size of the object.

    Thanks Steve. Little surprised the Lightburn team was so quick to dismiss this. The midpoint node makes the slot / tab line two lines. That should be easy for the math to say 'not a tab because it is two lines and not one'. Not sure that is how the algorithm sorts the tabs /slots, but it seems reasonable.

    Great video! It looks like the resize tool uses the corners/nodes to determine line segment length. By inserting a node you are effectively changing the length of the line segment so that LightBurn does not match up the line segment length with the length entered into the Slot/Tab tool. Way to think out side the box.

    This was so good, I’m still learning. I like making boxes and hope to start designing my own. I think lightburn is a great tool but they need to start listening to designers, such as yourself, who actually use the software not just design it.

    Very interesting.
    I like many have problems with tabs and slots they seem to me to be the same except for which line is fixed and which is moved It would solve the problem if the user could manually override the automatic selection and define any 2 parallel lines, the fixed and movable pairs of lines (select fixed first then movable?). This would really help with box design where there is often confusion in the corners.
    Keep up the great videos Hobo.

    Steve, great explanation on how to fix this issue. Also, it would be great if they fix the tool so that the "Resize Slots In Selection" does not auto close. That has also been frustrating. I hope they watch your video.

      If you could make all the adjustments with opening the tool once, it wouldn't matter if it closed. You'd be done.

    Yep, it's like the anomaly I experienced with drawing an elipse, using the offset tool and it converting the offset to lines from curves making it look like an octagon instead of a circle. Jack in the Shop gave me a tip, which worked on new elipses, but did not work on the initial one that had the issue. LB asked me to send them the file, which I did, but I have not heard back from them. I have been unable to recreate the issue. We shall see if anything comes of it.

    I agree, this function needs to be corrected. I have designed several projects and its confusing and you think your design is wrong. Where it's the tool function, need to recognize what it is seeing. Thanks HOBO !!

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does recogonize what it's seeing. It just can't tell which is a slot and which is a tab. By manually entering a node, like demonstrated,t the software then know which use is intended. It would be nice if either option is possible, Lightburn would ask you to distinguish which is a slot and which is a tab. You could then click on one segment to indentify the intended use. Then Lightburn in its infinite wisdom could look for all matching segment lengths and identify them accordingly. But, it is still better than NOT having the tool at all.

    Wow, so much for the wisdom and humbleness of the LB developers. Did they even look or test it before summarily dismissing you? Sounds a bit snotty on their part imo. Good job Steve!!! 👏 👍 LB needs to put you on the payroll as a consultant!! You're brilliant 😊

    To be fair - even you used tool lines to help you distinguish tabs and nodes. I am not sure how Lightburn recognizes them, but adding the extra nodes probably changes the lengths of those paths, so it doesn't see them as similar lenghs which is probably how it differentiates them.

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did use the tool paths to illustrate how to tell them apart. But I didn't do it for my benefit. I used to. But I no longer need to do that when designing. Adding the extra nodes changes it from one segment to two. You are correct. This is how it differentiates them. There are new changes coming to the tool. The first change is the tool will no longer close after making a change. You will then be able to simply select the next item to change. This will be on Version 1.5.

    What if there was an option to keep the nodes when you do the offset.

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is what I meant by locking the nodes.

    Don't you just love talking to someone who is too "intelligent" to listen to your solution?
    I am not a serious designer (Yet), but I knew that I could still learn something from you on this subject.

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think it's so much about being "too intelligent" as much as not understanding me. Especially understanding I was already going what they said wouldn't work. I think it was more about not listening.

    What a great solution to rectify the problem, It sounds like Jason does not like hearing a solution from someone that really knows his software on a working level as opposed to a programming level. 🤯🛫 I am hearing. X Tool’s software interface is more user friendly compared to Lightburn. It reminds me of an old Piedmont Airlines Commercial. A man on the Runway is walking towards the camera he is explaining how far Piedmont Airlines has grown for the good, and in the background you see a Boeing 727 on takeoff coming up from behind. His last statement is watch out someone is gaining on you talking about competitor airlines. The 727 climbs out about the man on the runway. 😁🛫

    Would have been great if they would have said, fine show us if you know better and then YOU DID!!!! (Actually you just did here but would have been interesting if you could have shown them on the big screen as they were talking) I hope they take this seriously now and the locking a node would be a game changer for offsets, as long as you could pick to lock or not. Maybe a LOCK ALL selection in the tab/slot tool panel to make it easy to lock the nodes on the item you are trying to resize the slots/tabs on.
