I wrote this song on 9-11-2001. After seeing the US flag draped over the Pentagon, I asked myself what that represented. And the song was born. I had a version that was a solo accoustic guitar and a single snare drum that played for the the "uniforms that paid the ultimate cost."

I had to rework the design to get the orientation I wanted. And I'm working on a mechanical version for the lock. Cylinder correction for rotary engraving
put a piece of vaxxed paper between your letters and your waste board - no worries about the 2 pieces getting glued together
Proper technique for gluing in inlay to avoid gaps/air pockets, is to squeeze the glue onto a disposable surface, then apply the glue to all surfacers of the pocket with a small paintbrush. this assures full coverage with minimal squeeze out. tightbond 1 is better than 3 for inlays.
I don't understand why the jig use is complicated by having to remember to move it up 2.5". Just cut a hole to fit around the rivet so the jig lines up with the bottom right corner of the workspace in LB?
When working with oily woods like padouk, purpleheart, etc, wipe them down with a solvent like naphtha (dries faster than mineral spirits). It will eliminate the bleeding plus the clear finish will adhere better.
Steve, I'm a bit behind viewing your videos, so maybe I missed it, but why did you not engrave your inlays before you cut them out? Anyway, a method I've used to decide if my engraving will be in the correct spot: when I cut the inlay, I also cut a few piece sof cardstock with the identical shape. After the glue-up, I tape the cardstock over the inlay, run a test engrave, make any adjustments needed, then do the actual engraving. Sometimes I may go through a few pieces of cardstock until I get it right.
Great info
Thanks for watching!

How do you clean your honeycomb?
LA's Totally Awesome. I get it at the dollar store by the gallon. I clean the entire laser with this stuff. The name is accurate. It is Awesome!
Thank you for showing the tea lights Vintauri tea light design can be purchased on his etsy site for $2.99 and is well worth it it can be used for so many designs. The lighting gels work great but they are not laser friendly I had to cut them with an xacto knife. I like yours and Vintauri designs you both are very detailed oriented and the work great first time.
Also Vintauri has a template in his tea light design for the diffusers I cut it out on a piece of cardboard on the Lasermatic 30W and used it as a template to cut the lighting gels
A tip for taking the letters off the bed is to use a strip of painters tape and put if on the board and letters. That way when you pick up the board all the letter will come with the board. The as you pull the tape off each letter will come off easily.
Some of my inlays are so delicate, less than a MM, I don't want to chance them breaking when trying to peel them off the tape.
Your plaque look great. What did you sand to between coats to get it so smooth?
320 is a high as I go.
👍 it is important that no body forgets any of the brave who have and are now serving.
The jigsaw are great Steve.
Great video
Thanks!
Pat on your back! I honestly appreciate your support! I am a 100% Disabled Veteran and thank you for your salute!
Thank you for your service.
Hi Steve you said you were doing a clean on your Roly could you maybe do a video of the strip down and what you clean please, thanks peter
Excellent video as always ❤
Thank you so much 😀
wish a could win a roly, because I bought a Atezr P20 and get zero support.
Tune in to me anniversary show on June 15th at 3PM EST, you will have a chance to win a Roly.
very nice, thank you for sharing, its beautiful, maybe incorporate that into your intros somehow
It's a bit too long for the intro.
Thanks Steve, this is beautiful!!
Glad you like it!
Hello Steves! I've already watched some of your videos, but I have a question, please. Not long ago, I bought a laser machine, 10 Watt XTOOL and I'm using it with LightBurn but, the question is: the useful area of the machine is approximately 430mm (Width) x 400mm (Length) and, I would like to Do you know if it is possible, in any way, to Print and/or Cut materials with measurements beyond the useful area of the machine? By any chance, is that what you talk about in this video? I'm having difficulty understanding the video because my language is not English. If you could enlighten me, I would appreciate it.
what is your first language?

@@HoboWithWood Thank you very much Steve!
I am sorry that jerks are too ignorant and have criminal tendencies and have cause you to do what you need to do. I would rather buy your creation.
AWESOME SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you.
If the case is suppose to shield your eyes from the laser, why wear the shades?
They are my Elvis glasses. They make me look COOL! Just one me level of safety. Kinda like wearing a life jacket in the kiddie pool.
Beautiful tribute. Is that you singing? Thanks for sharing. My prayer is that more people would appreciate America and the red, white and blue and what it stands for. Thanks again for sharing.
That is in fact me singing. I recorded the song shortly after the attacks. Since the strokes, I can't carry a tune in a dump truck.
@@HoboWithWood Sounded pretty good, though!!
I am a retired volunteer firefighter of 30 years. I volunteered to go out to New York for the search and cleanup. But we got about 75% way there and they had us turn around because they didn’t need anymore volunteers. I then started to take special training classes. I am federal certified haz-mat trained firefighter.
I was VFD for about a year. Then our county made all fire departments "first responders", sending us out on all calls, fire related or not. I did not care for all the fender benders at 3 AM. No problem running into a burning structure. But all the unnecessary calls were enough for me to call it quits.
@@HoboWithWood I started all my adventures as a police scout at 12 years old. I learned how to properly handle and use a firearm. I was able to do ride alongs with the police and helped out at parades, concerts and festivals. Then I got into firefighting at 16 and then I became a EMT at 18. I went on as many calls as I could. My girlfriend at the time didn’t like it very much. Some of those calls still haunt me today.
Thanks. I had a shipmate perish in the Pentagon that day. This is a beautiful song.
Thanks, sorry for your loss. I had family in the Pentagon, but they were not physically harmed.
Steve, this is beautiful 😢. I will never forget that day. My Dad fought in the Korean war and my husband lost an uncle in Vietnam (he was only 21, a Mstr Srgt in the Army). Have 3 other family members who served in the Navy and Marines not to mention firefighters and law enforcement. As you can imagine, patriotism runs in my blood. Thank you for sharing. I am going to share this.
AWESOME!!!!!!!
Thanks
I also turn wood bowl, and spent weeks trying to come up with jig to center my bowl so I could laser some decorations on them. BOOM, you showed us the find center tool. Next, I couldn’t figure out how to how to cut shapes. BOOM, there you were again. Then last Wednesday, you show how to use the Cut and Print for something other than the pass through. I alway enjoy your videos, and pickup something from every one of them. THANKS!
Thanks for the support!
How about doling out the files over a year in bundles?
I am working with my webmaster to create some roadblocks for the unscrupulous.
I learn something new in aaaaallll your vids!!!! 😊 Also what type of set up do you have for your cameras, that you are able to feed them all to your monitor?
I am using the Feelworld L4 Video Mixer
Sorry I missed the live I was out on the road.
sorry if i type something wrong. I am in bed while watching the rerun of this episode. I clicked the notification bell but i don't get the notified. youtube issue. if you don't use print and cut before you move the work can you still use it and not lose your work or is it to late?
If you were on the computer, it should have given you a small popup notification. Another thing you can and should do is make sure you have the notifications "allowed" for TH-cam on your phone.
Be careful with your sanding, you can create a low spot the you won’t be able to fill in, and withe the glossy finish it will stick out like a sore thumb. It might be best left alone. You may see it but not everyone will notice. Remember you never noticed that the ice cream spelled TONYS.
Looking for the thanks tab on TH-cam, but it is nowhere to be found. Am I missing something?
Others were doing the super thanks during the stream. Don't know why you weren't seeing it. But I see from your subsequent post, you found it. Thanks.
The best part of your videos are the fact you are a down to earth teacher, humor and all. I like the fact that all your videos are for the Roly only unlike the others. I do follow them, but yours are the most interesting.
Awww...(blushing).
Suggestion. Make your coupon code, keyed to their name, good for one or two or three files a week, their pick.
I am working with my webmaster to find a plug-in or means to set some limitations.
It’s melting. Wipe down the Paduk with acetone before finishing may help to prevent that. The horse is out of the barn now, but future reference.
Sorry I missed the live. Was in the shop. Get soooo iritated with glued spots in the Baltic birch that pop up right in the midst of my project - happened with 2 different pieces, and yet a couple days prior, it was perfect.
Are you using my https:hobowithwood.com/premiumbalticbirch?? I have never had glue spots with this product. Not once.
@HoboWithWood Sadly, no. I bought a couple boxes from Amazon before I found you. Once the first is gone I will be buying some of the premium you list. Hey, thank you so much for the cut and paste video. It was awesome. I am working on a design and was ready to completely redo it that is, until, I saw how you broke apart those pieces. I accidentally welded something together early in the project and when I finished and went to cut it out, what I wanted left in, fell out. But, with the new info I have, thanks to you, I don't have to reinvent the wheel. I knew there was a way!!
I agree that the grain in the Paduk looks like a scoop of ice cream.

Sorry I was busy last night. Great video again.
Great design idea!
That Roly cuts nice thin lines
Thank you!
Another great video steve thank you
great video steve, i love the website gravini and loveheart, they are beautiful sites tankx
Hey Steve. Time difference screws up me seeing live streams except your Saturday streams - Got those locked in. don't you dare look at editing videos, Your explanations on how to fix stuff ups is a major part of the voyager.. You need to show how you break down your timber down to useable stock for the laser
To breakdown the 3/4" Maple required the use of a large commercial band saw to rip it into 3 pieces. It was a large 220V saw. And it was still bogging down if you went too fast. And that was with a new Carbide tip blade. A benchtop band saw would've never done the job. But once it was ripped into three equal pieces, I ran them through a planer to clean up both sides. It was a lot of work but I triple the sq footage of material.
