      You would be better off asking someone in your local paint supply store, but I would think a good quality spar urethane with UV protection should do the trick. Not sure how often it may to be refinished.

      I'm 2 blocks away from the exact center of the county, at the 3rd busiest intersection in the county. At times, it is a true nightmare. Occasionally, it's a blessing.

      I'm a country boy even though I am from NY. I need those wide open spaces and mts again. And the stars. Miss the stars.

    Aw, I thought you cut the groove on the laser. With 6mm wood it just takes making a long pocket just like you do with your inlays. I have done it and it works well.

      That is an option for someone who doesn't have a saw as an option. Since mine was already set up on the porch, I opted to use it.

      Cheapest thing I could find to safely pull and STOP my RV. Freightliner M2 Sportchassis. Bought it for less than you can buy a Ford F350.

    hey where is your miter gauge for that saw?

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wasn't making any precision cuts that required a miter gauge. The only thing that mattered in this piece was the edge for glue-up. Jointer handled that.

      I was thinking more for the safety of your fingers

    Isn’t it amazing how many clamps required to glue something together. You never have enough.

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      These pieces were like trying to glue two sponges together due to all the weather cracking.

    Sometime it is necessary to take drastic measures. If you have a severe crown, one way to fix it to rip the board down the middle of the crown, and joint the edges then glue it back together. This works most of the time unless it is too badly crowned.

      I made all three hangers from this reclaimed wood. Only the last two pieces in this video had an extreme amount of weather cracking. What I learned is not to waste too much time on boards like them. Toss'em and move on to the next pair.

    I guess its important to watch someone grind wood for about 10 15 minutes.

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No one said it was important. Some find it entertaining. Reclaiming wood can sometimes produce really nice pieces. In this case, two nice pieces and one not so much. But thank you for taking the time out of your day to make such an informative and educational comment. The world wouldn't be the same without your critical input.

    Sorry to be critical. I am sure you have been doing this forever, but safety comes first, and I would hate to see yo get hurt.
    When cutting the ends off your boards, you should never cut long pieces like the ones you have, directly up against a fence, especially if you happen to be using a miter gauge (which I am glad to see you weren’t). If for some reason the board get cattywompus during your it can throw the pieces trapped between the blade and the fence up and into your face. Just be careful is all I am saying, and speaking from experience.

      This saw is a nightmare waiting to happen. I purchased it from Vevor. The ENTIRE thing except the saw blade, motor, and base frame is made out of plastic. When stressed, you can see the saw blade move up to a quarter inch. You can't get an accurate or square cut if your life depended on it. You can't tell it in the video, but when making those questionable cuts, I was not standing behind the blade. I was off to the side. I've seen too many pieces take flight from saws. I need to get a better saw. Since I only use it occasionally to rip pieces down to size, this will have to do until I can afford better. Thanks for your concern.
