Everybody dropped the ball here. Giles undermining Wesley. Faith betraying Buffy. Giles leaving Faith hanging. Angel trying to do a junkie intervention. Wesley overreacting by arresting Faith. Buffy telling Xander he was a joke to Faith.
Sheesh.
The worst was Giles. He KNEW Faith was lying, and let her walk away without telling her what he told Buffy. It was an accident, and he should have reassured her. It happened during a vampire attack. The Slayers ARE in a war, and bystanders are going to get hurt.
Now, the second most dangerous human on earth has gone bad.

I like to include little things to make us repeat watchers feel seen. Most Buffy reactors are first timers, so they don't have knowledge of the inside jokes, references, important lines and moments that are meaningful or will have call backs in future episodes. It truly makes this channel different from the others. It is my way of saying, "I see you! Maybe not everyone who watches us will get this, but I know you will. "😉

I think Consequences was a brilliant, but disturbing episode. Even though Xander had lost his virginity in The Zeppo, we still see his Innocence here where Faith sexually assaults him, and tries to choke him to death. The juxtaposition here is brilliant writing where Faith is the one with power, and Xander is the helpless innocent, showing that sexual assault and murder are crimes of power over the vulnerable. Brilliant writing again. She has the power 'I see, I want, I take' Xander proves here his is still somewhat innocent, even though in The Zeppo he became more grown up and adult. An interesting line is drawn here with later episodes, as Faith has a soul and is deliberately acting like this in a fully conscious way. It shows here that sexual assault and murder are crimes of power over the innocent and vulnerable irrespective. Faith is now 'drunk' on power, and just thinks she can do what she wants to anyone, and there will be no Consequences! Teaming up with the Mayor catapults the show into the stratosphere, the build up from now until the two part Finale is totally brilliant.

what is it with reactors thinking that faith has some master plan? has she shown an abundance of skill or inclination for planning up until now?
I think Bel just hopes that Faith isn't as bad as she seems, and that there is a way for her to redeem herself. Little does Bel know, we've only scratched the surface of Faith's downward spiral. Also, she's never seen this show before and it's perfectly fine for her to have theories. No matter how wrong they may be.

it's certainly fine and i didn't mean to imply otherwise; it's just an odd pattern i've observed with newbies reacting to this episode. genuine heel turns must be rare in modern media that so many people are so confused by them.

Kinda bizarre how you jump to Angel and Wes/Cordy have this perfect relationship that feels tailor made yet you watch stuff from this season and cringe. Also I've only dated one person who was 4 years older than me but I find the way they play off cordy as jailbait this season is off-putting. Not because thats gross inherently but because it doesn't fit with the Angel show

Who would have thought that something with such a questionable name. I'm not sure how I ever gave the show a shot. Buffy the vampire Slayer sounds like a terrible show like it's got to have bad writing and just ridiculous characters that or just pointless. Then I watched a few episodes, I could not have predicted that it would be one of the best shows I've ever watched. Seriously it ranks really high on best of the best all time TV series.🔢🔝
I have to admit, I avoided this show for many years bcs I thought it sounded stupid. Lol! Thankfully, I did not keep that mentality.
