Good video, Natquascape! I highly recommend that you use mineral oil in your CO2 bubble counter (regular baby oil is the same substance). The problem with using water in the bubble counter is that it will evaporate. As CO2 is diffused through the water, it will 'pop' at the surface and take turn that water into an aerosol (or O2). This O2, along with CO2, will flow down and will exit at your CO2 diffuser. In most cases, you will find the bubble counter low (and most often, without) water within 1 to 2 weeks. The benefit of using mineral oil is it's viscosity. You will have a more realistic result (and representation) when measuring the 'bubbles per second'. In conjunction with your CO2 drop checker, the position of the CO2 diffuser adjacent to the outflow, you will have an optimal CO2 setup for your Nature Aquarium. I hope this helps!
Do NOT use mineral oil in the bubble counter, it clearly states on the packaging not use use Mineral water, ive also checked this with the guys at CO2 Art

Hi, I have been getting a few comments about using an inline check valve. I just checked my video and I am deffinately using a check valve made by jbl with the neo diffuser which worked well in the demonstration. I must have done this as a safety precaution and did not realise that the bubble counter also acts as a check valve. Having an extra check valve is no harm if it works, looks like my other check valves are not suitable for use with an inline co2 diffuser (works with in tank diffuser like the neo diffuser just fine). A brilliant and insightful video that ticks 99% of everything I needed to know about the installation and use of a Co2 injection system. I have one question though, what reason would the intank diffuser need to be placed on the opposite side of the water outlet/ water flow? Would it not be more beneficial to have the diffuser located directly next to the flow of water to allow for dispersion of bubbles within the tank?
Great info. i have a diffusor in the outlet of my filter, but to eliminate bubbles I also let it flow through an extra filter, in my case the small Eheim Classic, without using the pump. The filter is filled with raw filtermaterial and pieces of egg crate. In this way the CO2 is completely aborbed. No bubbles.
Great video! I have a quick question. I followed step by step however my working valve is at 120 once I turned the CO2 on. I can’t adjust it to 20-30. Do you know why? I can still adjust the needle valve and control it like that. Thanks

@@allaboutvisual hi there, I have just come back from holiday, looking at my co2 art regulator I would suggest you replace when it gets to about 250psi. Ensure you check the working pressure, mine is set to about 45psi as I am using in-line co2. Hope that helps
Is your recommend regulator Pro art cga320 standard fits my co2 tank which i bought locally here in Bahrain? There are codes WP15 and QF 2A markings mentioned near the nexk output of the tank. Your help ia highly appreciated
Great video, very informative thanks. Question, I have a 6ft (500 lt) tank that l want to install co2 with an inline diffuser, problem is my canister filter has large tubing, 22/28 roughly and l cant find any diffusers to suit so l would have to install reducers on each end of the tubing to make the 16/22 fit which of course would restrict the efficiency of the filter itself. Do you see this as a problem, should l just install an in tank diffuser? Cheers in advance.
My advice would be inline co2 for 6foot to ensure co2 distribution. You would have to go for reduction adaptors my friend. I have had a look for larger inline diffusers and have failed to find any. I think you will be OK interms of filter performance.
@@Natquascape Ok thanks for the advice, looks like inline for me. Being new to this co2 stuff my only worry is my tank looking like a big sprite bottle lol. Anyways take care. Subscribed!
Hi, great vid. Really helped as i just bought that co2art model. So how do you purge excess co2 from that regulator when bottle is empt? ..cause i heard that excess co2 can blow the gauses. I'm using sodastream for co2 with co2 supermarket adaptor. It has a dial on top that lowers pin to open co2. So once i turn off co2 of empty bottle then what..?. I want to do it the safest way without damaging regulator. Thank you. I just subbed.
@@Natquascape I dont have an adjustable reg so i cant adjust my working pressure. I was wondering whether i should open my main tank turn valve on the cylinder fully?
@@uraninite8151 hi there, without fully knowing what setup you have I can't say if you should open up fully or not. I wouldn't want to recommend unless I know exactly what setup you have for health and safety reasons. I wouldn't want you to have any mishaps that may cause harm
I'm new to CO2 and I'm finding your information delivery very good. Curious about not using CO2-proof tubing on the output of the inline diffuser. Possibly because it is in the water return, diluting the CO2 concentration? Thank you!
Hi, so any residual CO2 when reacted with water will turn to carbonic acid, which in time, could slowly degrade the tubing. I think the tubing will be full of co2 and water will react to give carbonic acid, the concentration of which I am not sure. The reason I did not use co2 resistant tubing is because I got fed up of it not fitting tight onto the inline diffuser outlet haha, silicon tubing just worked better

Last night I put the diffuser in the tank to soak this morning I put the co2 tank on the psi30 and the bible per count is 1 but the diffuser is hardly letting out much bubbles
Hello! I really enjoy all your video guys. I have a quick question. Is it good or bad to place the Co2 diffuser just next to the suction pipe of my external filter? I'm thinking like this the Co2 has more time to dissolve in the water before being injected back to the tank via the outlet pipe. But maybe the Co2 concentration will be too high for my beneficial bacteria inside my external filter. What are your thought about it ?
Ok - best thing you can do is get some timers that plug into a socket. I have just switched from mechanical timers to wifi programable timers, game changer for me. Get one for co2 and one for the air pump. Check out my video on how to set up lights for planted aquarium, you can buy this for lights (the one I recommend) from amazon: www.amazon.co.uk/Aquarium-Modulator-Lighting-Controller-Intelligent/dp/B07M59NWVD?pd_rd_w=k8rrT&pf_rd_p=81ce6caf-beb7-4fac-8db2-f73b3de1e5da&pf_rd_r=0WDZGJN0JPKPMJFCCHNR&pd_rd_r=c81d7bf3-fa02-4c3d-860c-31587337b802&pd_rd_wg=6Vo4X&pd_rd_i=B07M59NWVD&psc=1&ref_=pd_bap_d_rp_3_i Ok - so in the first phase of setting up, 6hrs of light max for about 4 weeks, then either ramp up intensity or duration. CO2 1-2hrs before lights; co2 off 1-2 hrs before lights. THEN, time the air pump to come on 1hr after lights go off. let the air pump run over night and to turn off 2hrs before CO2 comes ON ithe next day. Hope this makes sense and that I have been helpful.

13:23 did you passed that cap all the way to others end of pipe? 😅.
Bravo!!!!!!
Subscribed!
One of the best videos on this i have seen, some great tips..really helped my first Co2 set up 👍🏼
Thanks so much mate
Where do I put the check valve if I’m using an inline diffuser ? I guess anyplace between the bubble counter and the inline diffuser ?
Hi, great vid. Really helped as i just bought that co2art model. So how do you purge excess co2 from that regulator when bottle is empt? ..cause i heard that excess co2 can blow the gauses. I'm using sodastream for co2 with co2 supermarket adaptor. It has a dial on top that lowers pin to open co2. So once i turn off co2 of empty bottle then what..?. I want to do it the safest way without damaging regulator. Thank you. I just subbed.
Nice video, I’m getting an inline. Should I open my co2 tank valve fully or just a bit? I see people who do both.
I just open the front valve so that the working pressure is around 35, for inline co2. Hope that helps
@@Natquascape Its virtually the same as yours, except my regulator is non adjustable and not dual stage. But its ok.
Nice vid! Thinking of getting c02 for my 60 gallon tank. Just bought the oase biomaster Thermo 600. Seems like inline is the way to go.
Hi! Thank you! Yes....if you have an oase 600 I would definitely go with inline. I've always got better results with inline co2
Yes, definitely go inline if you are using a canister filter.
Hi bro..
Im planning to buy co2 kit which include mufan dual guage regulator, solenoid, bubble counter, and inbuilt check valve, is check valve def inbuilt is that ok or need to connect check valve seperately. Is this mufan brand good..? Kindly suggest me bro.
very detailed and average pace talk. thank you!
Thank you so much
Very helpful and detailed video. A question though, Is it ok to use a sodastream cannister with that exact type of regulator? Thanks!
Hi Ky, thanks for subscribing. Co2 art actually do adaptors so that you can use sodastream bottles, here is the link:

Dude holy shit thank you so much, such a good video that answered so much of my questions, won my sub instantly and will be looking forward to your content
Thankyou so much for the positive feedback. It really helps me to know what people think. Your comments and feedback will help to ensure I make content that is useful for you guys, which is the over all aim for the channel.
@@Natquascape thank you, will be showing my friends this channel
Would it work to diffuse the c02 in the return section of my sump 🤷🏼♂️
That co2 bubble counter on de pro se series has already a integrated check valve in it so that check valve is not needed
Yep! You can have it as an extra precautionary but your right, now needed. Cheers
I have 75 gallon fish with FX 4 canister filter the intake is on the left side Near the wavemaker on the my right side of the tank is the outtake can I place the diffuser on the right side their is more flow coming out of my out take
Hi, 100% place co2 near the outflow pipe, never near the intake pipe.
@@Natquascape thank you for letting me know I set the co2 up the way u explained it on your video I will have it start running tomorrow thank u so much
@@rosidragon40 your more than welcome, my pleasure 🙏
Does the check valve come with the CO2 Art set? Im waiting for mine to be delivered didnt think about the check valve xd
Can I keep the air pump running on 24/7 or only at night when using co2?
Ok - best thing you can do is get some timers that plug into a socket. I have just switched from mechanical timers to wifi programable timers, game changer for me. Get one for co2 and one for the air pump. Check out my video on how to set up lights for planted aquarium, you can buy this for lights (the one I recommend) from amazon:
www.amazon.co.uk/Aquarium-Modulator-Lighting-Controller-Intelligent/dp/B07M59NWVD?pd_rd_w=k8rrT&pf_rd_p=81ce6caf-beb7-4fac-8db2-f73b3de1e5da&pf_rd_r=0WDZGJN0JPKPMJFCCHNR&pd_rd_r=c81d7bf3-fa02-4c3d-860c-31587337b802&pd_rd_wg=6Vo4X&pd_rd_i=B07M59NWVD&psc=1&ref_=pd_bap_d_rp_3_i
Ok - so in the first phase of setting up, 6hrs of light max for about 4 weeks, then either ramp up intensity or duration.
