How to measure CO2 in your tank? How to check if CO2 level too low or too high? Let us set up a drop checker and find out! Don't forget to leave a like if you liked it!
So wonderful to have people do videos like this, especially those who have lost the instructions and have started the hobby over again and forgot little details.
Thank you for helpful video. I like your clear pronunciation, since english in not my first language and i need to focus while hearing it. Also home-made CO2 set seems interesting, i will check your vidoe about it, too.
Thank you for the explanation i just finished setting up the basics of my fish tank like a air disc, a filter, plants and a good light source. I had no idea how to put the co2 reader in the tank or what was good and what was bad. Lets hope my plants will be alright though 😅.
thanks so much for the amazing video. i was wondering, if i add co2 like this to a tank that already has a betta fish some cherry shrimp and some nertie snails, will it effect any of them at all? it's a 10 gallon heavily planted tank
Thank you! All depends on the amount of CO2. They should be fine, just don't shock them with lots of CO2, but introduce it slowly. You can increase it later, once they adapt to new water parameters.
Why should you replace the liquid indicator every few months? Does it lose it color? I'm an analytical chemistry technician. I don't know what indicator it use, but I won't be surprise it last years. Please, show us a used 'worned out' indicator before and after change of liquid.
It changes colour many times, depending on the CO2 levels. So it can be blue in the morning, green 2-3 hours later, and then get back to blue if you switch CO2 off etc.
I got a co2 system and a drop checker online the drop checker came in early an I install it and it’s in green but my tank has no co2 it hasn’t come in yet can anyone help me should I install the CO2 system? Or what should I do I don’t want to kill my fish
No, it doesn't. But it's because API Co2 Booster doesn't add CO2 but carbon molecules. Plants can still use it, but it's not CO2 in gas form and will not be detected.
Hi, how many bubbles/sec should i set for a 125x50x55cm tank tht is 344liters approx.. depending on tank size i set it high like 12bubbs/sec for 6hours daily thru timer and my drop checker turned green as i placed it opposite side of the co2 diffuser.. and last week onwards the fishes in the tank started to die drastically.. my water parameters are all fine.. i installed an air stone for oxygen. So how much do i need to set the bubbs in order to get green i tried 3bubbs, 5bubbs, 8bubbs, 10bubbs none turned my solution green wen i kept on 12bubbs solution turned green but my fishes strted to jump out of tank and some died inside.. now i have switched off co2 frm.2days and just airstone is working.
Sorry to hear that :/ Do you have good circulation in your tank? It is possible that you have high co2 levels in one corner and low in another. But your bubble count is fine. How many plants you have? Is your tank heavily planted?
I was confused when I was gifted with the ADA drop checker kit. The instruction says put a drop of the solution and then dilute with aquarium water. Which I have never heard before. I have to double-check my knowledge. 😂😂😂😂
I have been fish keeping for many years now. I do have planted tanks that I do inject CO2 into but I never use a drop checker. To check my CO2 levels I monitor my PH and KH, I measure the Ph levels in the tank to know what my CO2 levels are. Personally I hate drop checkers and find them to be useless. With a KH of 5 I look for a PH of 7.0 for my CO2 levels. To measure my PH I use a Blue Lab PH pen. My tanks PH usually sits around 7.6 to7.7 without CO2 and I slowly bring it down to 7.0 with the CO2. That's it.
Yes, this is definitely an option if you know your parameters. But you know, drop checkers really help people especially at the beginning to figure things out and learn about CO2 levels. This is really easy and obvious method if you are new in the hobby. In the end, with experience and knowledge they are not needed anymore.
@@linussivervik2805 Exactly. There is air between the fluid and water in the tank. And it separates the both. As long as you don't mix the fluid with water somehow by accident - you are good!
Hi. Not this one - pressure would be to big. There are separate systems for this with much stronger cups and bottles. I keep it 24h/7 and have strong water surface agitation to keep the fish safe.

I have never heard of or seen one of those. Amazing & so helpful. Definitely getting one. Thank you 😊

Great video. One think you forgot to mention is get solution that's already pre- mixed.
Thank you!
Good video! Great information, just what i was looking for!
Awesome, thank you!

Glad it helped!
I'm definitely getting one! Do you suggest any specific brand?
No, just get any cheap one. This is only a piece of glass in specific shape. Don't let big companies lie to you ;)
Really good video
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Will this indicate CO² levels from liquid CO² additive or just the canister?

How long will the drop checker last? How to identify when to discard and fill fresh solution?
The liquid you put in needs to be changed about once a month
Hi, does the co2 checker change colour once per colour or it is changing depends on the water condition for a full month?
It changes colour many times, depending on the CO2 levels. So it can be blue in the morning, green 2-3 hours later, and then get back to blue if you switch CO2 off etc.
@@AquascapingCube thank you so much i was afraid it will only change once 😂

If it goes yellow do you have to change the solution or will it go back to green again if levels drop?
It will go back to green. You only need to change the solution every 3-4 months.
Kindly tell me if dark green is good? Or should it be light green?
Dark green is good enough in most cases. Just stay away from dark blue and yellow and you should be fine :)

Thank you very much! I appreciate it.
I love ur vids ur my favorite TH-camr I’d love to meat u someday
How low do u hang the c02 checker?
I hang mine few centimeters below water surface. So all of it is under water.
Why is my drop checker staying green? My Co2 comes on two hours before my light and it turns off one hour before they turn off 🤔

No it's fact. Cheers!
@@kosys5338 source?
ur co2 is flowing all around so cool, but then theres mine it just goes up in a straight line
It's all about the flow in the tank. Play a bit with the outflow of your filter and it can make a HUGE difference.
Do you have to change the liquid that goes inside the CO2 drop checker often?
Hi! I change it every 3 months, and it works well for me.
How do you do with drop checker during waterchange?
Nothing. It stays connected to the glass without any problems. After water change it takes some time for it to adjust the color and that is it :)
@@AquascapingCube ok so you just leave it where it sits and it will stay there and the fluid won't be messed up? Thanks for answer
