    Wish I had seen your video before setting up my first CO2 system. All is good now but not before a few swear words were spoken. My 5lb bottle lasts about 8 months running 2 BPM (Bubbles per minute) on a 50 gallon and with exchange is $34. But that's here in good ole Washington State where they are tax happy and everything is more expensive. But anyway, great video.

    Nice one, concise video. I've just ordered all the components for one. I've been running the pressurised DIY C02 that runs in a cannister with baking soda/citric acid for sometime but lasts only 3-4 weeks. Of course that DIY system only manages to mix up around 100g of C02 for a 2 litre cannister as opposed to the real thing like you have demonstrated here which uses the full capacity of the cylinder.

    Great video, lots of useful information. A couple suggestions, even of bubble counter has a check valve built in, might want to add one between the diffuser and bubble counter. Also make sure co2 cylinder is secure, if it falls over the regulator can get broke easily, and if valve would break, the cylinder becomes a torpedo. Can't be too careful with compressed gases.

    • @TrafishAquatics
      @TrafishAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same 50psi, what really matters is the bubble counter as that is what controls tge fine tuning of how much co2 is being released

    Is this a single stage regulator? If so, have you experienced any issues with end of tank dump? Much of what I read seems to recommend a dual stage regulator to avoid this.

    Good explanation I don't have plants but I would like to get into the subject, question can I put a goldfish with a flying fox fish?

    • @TrafishAquatics
      @TrafishAquatics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's a true flying fox most likely yes, One thing you need to watch is if the flying fox is small he may end up being eaten by the goldfish, since goldfish we'll pretty much eat anything they can fit in their mouth.

    • @ian5661

    Hi Trafish guy, nice video on CO2. I am looking to set a system up like you have described, and being that it is my first attempt at a CO2 system, wondering if you can recommend a brand and or model number for the regulator that works well. Also, some of the more expensive regulators say that their benefit is they prevent CO2 dump as the CO2 empties from the tank. Can you comment on that as well? Thanks and really enjoy your videos/Jeff

    • @TrafishAquatics
      @TrafishAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The regulator that I used is linked in the video discription, I haven't had any issues with CO2 dump with this regulator.

    • @phoenix063071
      @phoenix063071 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff the dump you speak of is only at risk if you have a single stage regulator which looks like what this video has.
      You need a dual stage don't get confused with dual guage. Make sure it's dual stage.
      I have the Milwaukee and a co2 art.
      Also for the needle valve I never fill to the top. I do it 3/4 fill with distill water.
      Cheers

    • @phoenix063071
      @phoenix063071 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also placement of the diffuser is key to optimizing the use of the system.
      I place my diffuser low to substrate and then have a mini wave maker or mini pump to push the bubbles to circulate through the tank and all over the plants before reaching the surface.
      The way its set up here, the bubbles rise straight to surface and not a single plant is benefitting and wasting all that co2.
      Hope that helps.

    What PSI would you suggest for a 75 gallon tank? Would 50 PSI be too much?

  • @donkeyhodie
    @donkeyhodie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Curious how you have found the regulator you’ve chosen to work for you. So many conflicting reviews of regulators make the choice difficult.
    Also curious if you know how far you can run the from co2 tank to aquarium. Thinking of storing tank in the basement and running lines to first floor.

    • @TrafishAquatics
      @TrafishAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually got my regulator from a local fish store, the owner tried many different ones and found this one to work well, it still had the Amazon ID on it so I looked it up and found it on there also. So far it's been reliable. You can run it from further away but it will take longer to get the co2 to the tank when it turns on because if the distance, you can just tune your timer to compensate

    C02Art sells complete set up kits. I own two of their kits and they are very high quality.
    www.co2art.us
    (One note, though: C02Art no longer includes a washer in its kit. The company says you don't need it; it says the black sealing ring that comes on the regulator is enough. It is not. You will need to buy a washer either from C02Art or from your local hardware store, or the gas will leak.)
