Thanks so much! I hope that what i can do is to empower people to give it a go by providing formulas or helping people to recognise their own intuition and think through what makes sense. Happy mathing and knitting. :)
Lovely shifty Sweater you have on. The socks that you are knitting which have dark areas are actually quite nice. The Ebb Dress is looking great and you will get a lot of compliments in the future. I love your plans and I can't wait to see Ilha dress knitted in the lovely yarn. I go to Church on Sundays and if I am ill then I watch a video of my son Craig Eveleigh preaching at the Island Church Knysna. ❤❤❤
Hi Rosemary. Thank you for your lovely compliments on the projects i am working on. I am liking those sportweight socks more now but I do think they are more colours that will suit my daughter, Mia - and she likes them, so that is a win. It is nice to be able to have other options when you dont feel well enough to get to church. It is always nicer in person though, so i do try to get there if i can. That is so lovely that you get to watch your son preach. :)
I just found you, thanks to the Musselburgh hat. I'm enjoying your videos so much and we are the same size so that is nice too. Thank you for sharing!!
Thanks so much Bec. I feel weird not having a Musselburgh on the needles. I feel i have to remedy that. I think this week is going to be a massive cast on week.
Love all your podcasts so much, you are a delight and an inspiration ❤ I live in So Calif ( San Diego) wish I was traveling your way, I’d bring your bag kit and some local dyed yarn 🧶 we all love souvenir yarn, right 🥰
Thanks so much for the lovely comment Christie. My husband is actually travelling to San Diego in a couple of weeks' time to see his parents. I wish i was going as well. We could meet and knit and chat and shop for pretty yarn. He will be bringing my bag kit back with him which will be nice. I have started thinking about whether i "need" to purchase any yarn and have it sent to my in-laws....
Love your Shifty so much. Now I know it's slipped stitches I'm keen to knit this too. Thanks for awesome podcast. I have also started a Musselburgh. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm feeling like my knitting MOJO is back.
Thanks so much Karen. I am really enjoying making the podcast so happy that others are liking it and getting something out of it. Very happy you have your mojo back. :)
Your colorwork is amazing. I also love your 2 color musselburgh hat. I have knit 4 musselburgh hats for my grandkids but I want to try a 2 color version for my husband and I.I really appreciate you Linking your projects and sharing the yarns and colors you used
Thanks so much. I have to admit to a shameless copy of the colour choices of 'JHMade" (Jessie) on ravelry. I do love being able to look at others' projects and see a "knit up" version of colours without having to actually purchase it and knit it to make sure i will be happy with the end result.
Oh! I am so glad you asked. I forgot to link it. I have added a "Sewing" section to the notes and put the link in there. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I am glad you enjoyed the podcast. I am having so much fun making it. :)
Loved your podcast! I am an Australian living in Canada. Question: I have made one Andrea Mowry sweater and am doing the comfort fade cardi one now. They say to go up a needle size when doing the sleeves and I know the last one I did the sleeves were quite tight also.shipping is ridiculous!PS looks like Disney plus has “the Americans” here in Canada
I usually go up a needle size when doing the sleeves magic loop as I tend to knit tighter with that method. I think it is quite common. Something to do with starting a bit tighter at the change to prevent laddering. And then that tighter tension continues throughout the row. Thank you so much for the heads up on The Americans. I will see if it is going to Disney Plus after it leaves Binge. Thank you for your lovely comments on the podcast. :)
Weird request - You mentioned around the 6:50 timestamp that there are a few patterns that are similar to the Musselburgh hat pattern. Are you able to mention what they are?
Hi there. Sure. The main one i am thinking of is the All Ways Hat by Brooklyn Tweed (paid for). Also the WW2 Fatigue Cap (free). I have linked both below/ ravel.me/all-ways-hat www.vintageknitcrochet.net/free-knitting-pattern-vintage-wwii-fatigue-cap/ There was a bit of concern that the Brooklyn Tweed pattern (which came later) was a bit too similar to the Musselburgh hat. There are some differences by they are remarkably similar.
Enjoying the excursus in your knitting journey...it's a bit like what you said about already having the next seasons on a series 😊 you do have an unfair advantage being a math teacher 😂 I always tell people who do not knit how much math there is but they do not understand! I am really loving your Musselburghs I just wonder about the amount of knitting, but it is now on my neverending wishlist...these 2 colours are lovely. I always worry about possible color transfer but I imagine you already know your yarns well. Really love the shifty sweater, maybe that could be an easier color work project although it looks very busy...
The Musselburgh is a lot of knitting but it isnt on a deadline for me so i dont really think it about it too much. It is my portable, social knitting that I just like to have available. Yes - there is a lot of math in knitting. Mostly ratios. It all works so well until your gauge changes drastically. ;) The Shifty sweater is great. Just slipped stitches so much easier than fair isle. Also i find all the colours just kind of blend so it doesnt feel too busy when i wear it. Thanks so much for going back and watching my episodes and taking the time to comment. x
Hi Adrienne, I have a lot of video tutorials on my channel. If you click on my page "Mostly Knitting", you will see a Playlist for the Episodes and also another Playlist for the Tutorials. Hope that helps. :)
So, if you knit 1 color/side longer than the other, you can wear it so it fits your head snugly and still is a slouchy hat on the outside! Cool.
Finally, a podcaster who celebrates math and does not apologize for the need to do some. (From one math teacher to another 😀)
Thanks so much! I hope that what i can do is to empower people to give it a go by providing formulas or helping people to recognise their own intuition and think through what makes sense. Happy mathing and knitting. :)
your shifty looks stunning!
Thank you so much. x

For your fingering weight hats what size needle did you use? Thank you.
Hi sally. I used a 3.25mm needle. :)

Your students would be very impressed! See if they can work the math!

Love your podcasts but the sound was very soft on this one👩🌾👩🌾👩🌾
Thanks Susan. I am working on it. Hoping to get myself a microphone soon. Just need to do a little research. :)
