    It is simply amazing how your one neckline was that much bigger as a result of difference in yarn. The no stretch in linen yarns affects the neckline as well. It in fact helped me with the cast on of new hat where the yarn had no stretch. Love the item from the Vault and the Ranuculius., musselburgh hat, socks. Plans for the future my goodness. Your daughter's birthday so congratulations to your daughter. I am delighted that yiur Dad is improving. Take care and have some hot chocolate ❤😊

    I can’t resist another comment- I took care of my father for several years- he had a blood cancer & then got the flue & could not process fluids. (You commented in a video that your father was struggling with that also) I also have terrible “gut" issues ( I feel like doctors can never figure tummy problems out) & have to have a colonoscopy quite often. I love to knit, sew, weave (I teach weaving) and we are both Christians. This is the wonder of the modern world where people across the world from each other can connect. Anyway lovely sweaters today…have a very lovely day.

      Thank you so much for your lovely comment Annette. I love the connection with others around the world. I hope you are managing to keep your gut issues under control. Mine have seemed to resolve mostly recently, so I think stress had quite a bit to do with it. I love that you teach weaving. Wish i could take class with you. x

      Thanks so much for the feedback on the neckline Michelle. I think it will be fine for a dress but if it was a sweater, it would probably bother me. The nice thing it will be wearable as it is but if i find is bothers me as i wear it, i have an option to pull it in a little without too much time and effort. And thank you for the lovely comments about the Sunset Highway colours. I feel happy when i wear this one. :)

    Another wonderful fun episode Tash. It’s so lovely to see how excited you get about knitting, I feel the same way. Thanks for the nice words, my husband was walking by just as you were saying this and I was like hey honey listen to this 🤭🤣 glad your dad is improving and how lovely you can be there for him. I do love Dr. Google myself, I’m too curious by nature! My son and his girlfriend graduate medicine this year so my curiosity will be able to be upgraded. Glad all turned out well.
    Ha ha 18 and going to clubs! I never drank but I did forge ID so I went clubbing extra early 🤭😆 not so easy in todays digital age but I’m sure I would find a way 🙊 necklines ….. it’s like Goldilocks, I’m fussy and now I know what I like I tend to size down needle wise (even cycling up needles 2.75 then 3 then 3.25 each for a few rows) and aim for a stitch count I’m familiar with and yep linen etc 😬 it’s a learning curve. Happy knitting and I’m going to watch the next episode soon 🥰 Karen

      Thanks so much for commenting Karen and for sharing a bit about yourself as well. I love to hear what others are up to in their life and in their knitting. I love your ravelry photos. I am determined to work on my photography skills this year. But of course i want to edit better and, and, and. Trying to work out what i want to do first and not just spin in a circle wasting time procrastinating on choosing - and then just picking up my knitting and not choosing anything except a few more rows. ;)

    Fantastic - thank you SO much for all the neck fitting details, so very helpful. Thank you also for trying on sweaters to demonstrate your knitting and fitting issues as it helps it all make sense and has helped me immensely as I have a slim neck . I have visited similar sweaters to you on Ravelry and look forward to your Cumulus Tee in Ballerina - I was going for the same thing. Introduced to Knitting for Olive by Danish Musings, who enjoys the Danish yarns and mohair. Keep going - you are doing something very individual and good!

    Are there yarns that are similar to Knitting For Olive produced in Australia? I’ve been trying to source locally produced yarns that have the same qualities as the European yarns that I desire. Thank you for layering the text on the screen. I’m visually impaired and can not see any text on the screen ever. This is such a treat! Thank you!💗

    • @mostlyknitting
      @mostlyknitting  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Sarah, That is such a good question about similar yarns to the Knitting for Olive. I was looking for something comparable to the Pure Silk and the Cotton Merino and didnt know of anything offhand but perhaps another listener does? It is so hard to tell until you have them in your hands. As i am knitting with them, they dont resemble any yarn that I have knit with before. I have knit the Holst Garn Coast yarn and I dont really like at all. I much prefer the Knitting for Olive Cotton Merino. I will ask the question in the next podcast episode and see if people can reply in the comments.
      Thank you so much for letting me know what is helpful for visual impairment to make it easier to see the text on the screen. In my segments, i have black text over a yellow background. But for other information, I have sort of a white text with a purple outline. Can you read both of these ok, or is it better to have a solid background like i have with the black text over the yellow background? I really appreciate the feedback.
      x

    I love the wider neck on your new sweater dress. But if it is still bothering you, you could also try a crochet chain around the cast-on edge n the inside of the sweater. Traci from the Grocery Girls has also done this for the same reason.

    Hello! Just found your podcast and have binged my way through to this one. Love your style! Just a thought re magic loop and how you don't like having to shove the stitches back onto the left needle when they've tightened on the cable. Perhsps try using an interchangeable cable with a much smaller needle on the left, this might help? Looking forward to catching up to the latest episode 😊

    I love your videos and your choices and knitting. That pink is definitely your colour! Beautiful. 👍 I had to change a neckline on a sweater as well but I did the whole rib with a smaller needle. Is it better to do the first row with smaller one? Thank you!!

    • @mostlyknitting
      @mostlyknitting  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks so much Wendy. I think it can help to bring it in a bit if the neckline is going to be too wide. As long as you can get it over your head and it doesnt bring it in too much so that it ruffles. So one needle size smaller for the cast on and first row can help. :)

    • @wendykelcey1246
      @wendykelcey1246 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Actually what I meant was, I did the whole inch of the neckline rib with the smaller needle. It’s brought it in very nicely, but was I in error in doing the full inch ( rather than the first and second row) and THEN changing to the larger needle? Thank you so much!:im really enjoying your podcasts! 👍

    • @mostlyknitting
      @mostlyknitting  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I dont think that is a problem to do the whole rib on a smaller needle. If you like how it looks and doesn't flare out under it, that's great. :)
