    Hi Tash, I love your videos and appreciate your yarn and pattern choices. It's terrific that you wear older knits and talk about them too. I like your personal sharing and hope your new diet is proving to be helpful (I'm sympathetic to GI issues) and am glad you can run again. Your soft voice and quiet energy and beautiful knits are delightful to knit along with....thanks!

      Thanks so much Constance. I have knit so many sweaters and shawls over the years, it is nice to breathe some new life into them and remind myself of ones i havent worn in a little while. Thanks again for your lovely comments and for taking the time to leave them. :)

    I’m having a Tash binge today! I’m a huge fan of interchangeable needles, so when I have something like your ranunculus I always have the left hand needle much smaller and do the sleeves on a small circumference so they just glide by without much effort. I do that with any knit where I have to “push” the stitches onto the needle. Ageing parents is not for the faint hearted. My dad took an ambulance ride this week (he’s fine) he’s stubborn but thankfully my son and girlfriend were there to help. Hope all goes well for you, Karen 🥰💪🏻

      That's such a great tip Karen. Thanks so much for the reminder. I am going to switch to that right now! I am glad to hear your dad is doing better. It is hard to be sandwiched between raising teens and caring for parents and trying to work at the same time. I have been trying to work on not attempting to do too much. It doesnt come naturally. But i am not superwoman and i will fall apart if i dont cut myself some slack. I am actually really proud of myself for not doing all the usual school holiday jobs and just focusing on the essential tasks and taking more breaks. :)

      @@mostlyknitting Good for you Tash! Balance is key and that is from someone who has burnt out 😬🫤 I’m an ex over achiever and now dance to my own rhythm, drives my manic father insane. He’s a warning poster for me…. Danger ahead, avoid at all costs ⛔️🤭

    Thankyou for another great episode. Great progress on your WIPS! Glad you got so much done on your hols as knitting really soothes the soul. Especially when you have other stressors going on. I am home with a cold so was super happy to see another episode up. Had to pull one of my WIPS back. It’s a lace shawl and tried to fix it last night but nope counts continually wrong. Drives me batty and of course not very tolerant when feeling under the weather but I am determined to get it! On the last season few episodes of “the Americans” I will be sad when we are finished it! Have a great week❤

      Thanks Michelle. Hope you are starting to feel better and got that stitch count sorted out on your shawl. We still havent found a streaming service with the Americans so may have to pay for it on Apple TV. Meanwhile, we found a new show with Keri Russell called The Diplomats which looks good. Take care and get better soon.

    Hi Tash, I took one of your classes. I just related to your story about your dad. My mum broke her hip last year and refused to do the Physio from the hospital ( she does have dementia so she can be pretty uncooperative), but went back to her care home and is now walking fine, in fact, being there made her want to get moving and keep up with everything. We were worried also but it turned out fine. Enjoying your podcast and love your projects with all the details. Thanks, Claire.

      Hi Claire. Nice to see you here! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with your mum. That is so encouraging. I know my dad is depressed at the moment in the hospital so it can be hard to be motivated to do anything beyond just getting through the day. Hopefully he will be more inclined to start moving when he gets back to his facility. Thanks again for taking the time to leave a comment. :)

    When it comes to the Exploration Station the main thing to think about when deciding the 4 colours is that your one main colour, that frames the other 3 has enough contrast to frame the other 3 colours. You can decide any combination you desire for the 3 as long as the framing colour contrasts. Placement of colours for the 2 colour brioche might matter to you, but as to knitting the brioche section itself you need not be too concerned about difficulty as is it very straightforward. Unlike the chevron patterns or designs in other shawls where there are a lot of increases and decreases in the brioche, this shawl is a great one for a first go at brioche as it is simply back and forth which makes it easy to get into a rhythm and see how it works.

      Thank you so much for the tips on colour choices and the general construction of the shawl. I appreciate that so much. I plan to finish the Pebble Beach shawl within the next 2 weeks so will hopefully cast on Exploration Station by early May. Really looking forward to it. :)

Thank you for your prayers and thoughts for my family. xx

    All of your projects are just so beautiful. I was drooling over your Olive top, so I was very happy that you told us what it is. I agree with you about the highly variegated yarns. They really have the most effect as a small accent on a garment. It can change the whole feel of the piece without making it too busy. Yours is just so fun while still looking so sophisticated. Thank you for this video. As a brand new knitter, I find a lot of these types of videos very intimidating because while I’d love to make everything in everyone’s videos, I’m nowhere near that level. Even though you are making some pretty impressive pieces, your videos feel very inviting and safe for someone like me who has no idea what she’s doing yet! I hope you enjoy getting back to running. I’m more of a power walker. I seem to injure myself every time I attempt to run. My form is probably poor, so I just stick to what I can do and still get a good workout.

      Hi Jenn. Thanks so much for your lovely comments. I am glad you feel this is a safe space to watch and get inspired. I hope that a mix of the sharing and the tutorials is helpful for people. I have learned so much along the way. Everything is doable - one stitch at a time. I find it hard to narrow down plans as I want to knit everything that looks pretty - and there are so many pretty patterns and yarns. Narrowing it down to what i want to knit more than the others is the hard part. ;) As an encouragement - if you have learned to knit with even tension, that is the most important thing. After that, it is just new techniques and these are all just small building blocks.

    I have started the Musselburgh hat using magic loop for the increases. Should I go next to a 16” circular needle for the body? It seems a little small to me and the pattern doesn’t say. Thank you for any advice you can give me. If the hat turns out I will definitely be making more for my two grandsons.

    • @mostlyknitting
      @mostlyknitting  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Adrienne, I switched to a 16" circular once I had finished the increases. It may seem a bit small but by the time you have finished all the increases and done a few rows, you should be fine to switch to a 16" needle. Let me know how it goes. :)

    Tash, I am almost finished the body on my comfort fade cardi by Andrea Mowry and I really need to find a tutorial to help me pick up all the stitches for the outside of the cardi and the shawl collar. Any suggestions of where I can find something on you tube?

      Hi Michelle. This is something i havent really come across myself on TH-cam although I am sure there are videos on this. It is something i have been thinking about doing a video on. I teach a class on this and it would be good for me to have a video for students to refer to. If i dont get one done before you get to that point in your cardigan, i like Roxanne Richardson's knitting tutorials and she probably has one on this. She is very knowledgeable and experienced. :)

    How in the world do you get so much knitting done? How many hours a day do you knit?

    • @mostlyknitting
      @mostlyknitting  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do a lot of multi-tasking. I knit if someone else is driving, reading, watching TV, meetings if I don’t have to take notes. I am not sure how much that amounts to a day. But obviously a fair bit…. The way I knit is quite economical as well so I can get through rows pretty quickly. :)
