I don't know if you will read this, but I wanted you to know that your channel helped me out of a downward spiral I've been stuck in for years. I was fighting off a depression caused by my inner critic (that I didn't even know existed) and you have given me the resources to, not only, beat my critic, but also improve myself once again. I hope you are still pursuing your goals.

Honestly this is such great advice, thank you for sharing. I’ve been trying to figure out how to feel how I used to feel about 5 years ago and even beyond that like my childhood but have always felt the same. This balance of life idea is like a lightbulb going off in my head, I now know there is too much order, predictability, and boringness in my life. The problem is getting out of my comfort zone and doing it. Thank you!

On the topic of nihilism, what saved me is that this meaninglessness is a double edged sword. It means theres no reason not to try and thrive! Who cares if you embarass yourself and fall on your face?
Its a thousand times more fun to try and grow, becoming the best version of yourself then feeling sorry for yourself because everything seems meaningless, even if it truly is.
    One must imagine Sisyphus happy!

Have you read Ecclesiastes, a book in the bible. Even if you're not Christian its a very good read - there is this concept of "Hevel" (translated to english as meaningless/vanity) that means smoke or vapor. The author tries everything in life (money, fame, sex, power, pleasure) and finds everything is meaningless. He goes on to explain his stance on meaning and what best to spend our time on in this short period of life. It's very similiar to Marcus Aurelius' meditations. Cheers.

I volunteered for in patient substance abuse treatment in the military and I gained so many skills, shit was like a utopia I never wanted to leave 😂 It was sad how many people there just didn’t want to get better and I understand that, but I loved the concept. My day generally consisted of doing 30 mins meditation with my counselor first thing, then a healthy breakfast, art therapy, group therapy, outside meditation, playing soccer, then AA meeting at night. The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy exercises I learned there have been a huge help for my anxiety.

Thanks for the awesome video. I'm an INTP and I literally have had a tattoo of a version of the taiji (yin/yang) symbol on my chest for the last 20 years. Even so, your video was a wake up call that I'm probably too much in the 'white' side again right now. It's also a great reminder that INTPs should not feel guily or depressed when we're stuck in the "why is everything going so well but I'm still miserable?" loop. It's okay to welcome a bit of chaos.

Hey Tyler, enjoying the content. I really relate with a ton of the things you are talking about in your videos.
I’m struggling to figure out what to devote the majority of my time and energy into. Business has potential to be rewarding, but can seem pointless. Passions like music and writing seem fulfilling but destined to be done from the van you call home..

I can't give you exact answers. You have to be able to pay the bills so you need a decent job. You don't necessarily have to like the job as long as it pays the bills. If you are a young INTP you can begin planning a good career plan for yourself. Preferably something working around less people and less customer service focused. Your free time is really where you can open yourself up for side projects/hobbies. For me, besides the occasional youtube video, is stock market/cryptos, sports, and spending time with my family. This would be a great topic for our Discord.

  • @dragonofdeath1
    @dragonofdeath1 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video as always.
I've actually been thinking about things similar to this, in particular, having to do with the INTP's weaker functions like FE Inferior.
What I think has to happen is that the INTP needs to become more objective of himself-herself by using TI to counteract FE in before social situations begin.
This may include things like looking up how to be social, looking up how to increase emotional intellegence, and in general learning to question and analyze oneself for the right ideas or answers, even if that means going to others for them, as long as this doesn't become excessive.
This also applies to SI by becoming more objective about SI's rules for comfort and how they don't necessarily serve your interests when engaged in them all the time by looking at times when you may have engaged in more chaos vs times when you haven't.
It's all about becoming less subjective, in my opinion.
Btw, I use terms like subjective and objective very differently.
Subjective having to do with emotions, or emotional, and/or moral based opinions.
Objective has to do more with ideas, facts, etc.
Similar definitions but something I maintain because sometimes objectivity can be missunderstood based on the outcome.
For example, When people think of objectivity, typically they think things like fair, balanced, unbiased, when those descriptors are the outcome of objective thinking, but not necessarily objectivity itself.
A bit knitpicky of me, I know, but I have my reasons for making this change to the definitions that would be extra-complicated, and take waaaaaay to long to explain in a comment.
Anyways, thanks for the videos, they they are really helpful, and help me refine my ideas for my podcast itself.
I might end up either making a youtube channel, or another podcast specifically for INTPS, or INTP-related topics.
I've just got to refine my ideas and do a lot more research.
PS: I also think that for an INTP, they much become more objective about their TI use as well.
This is not completely refined and formulated in my head yet, but it basically means becoming more objective about what you believe you know, what you believe you've figured out, etc.
The reason why I say this is because Sometimes, I see INTPS, use objectivity to much upon others that they see, but not as much on themselves, which could, and often does, make them dogmatic, trolls, berating people for being stupid, etc.
I think it is, or can be very important to call others out for their inaccuracies and mistakes, but, In some, if not many ways, we must be more vigilant with ourselves, otherwise we could fall victim ! inaccurate information ourselves.

Hey Tyler! Wow, I'm late to this video. :| Anyways, fantastic topic. I love Jordan Peterson. He has excellent advice and I'm glad to see more of his ideas being incorporated into your videos. I also wanted to say that I like that you're playing around with your video editing skills. I enjoy the long format, lecture-style videos, but it can be easy to start tuning out after a period of time even if I'm highly interested in the topic. I think the chill background music helps with that issue to some extent. However, I, in my complete lack of video editing experience, would like to suggest fewer quick cuts to the PowerPoint? I'm enjoying the ability to read the main point as you're introducing it, then watching visuals as you're driving your point across. (The part that I'm specifically referring to is between 7:34 and 7:37. The cut to the presentation was jarring.) Just my two cents! Can't wait for the Discord when it's ready.
