As we get older we realise less is best, i've just had my 2006 Hawkeye's first remap to around 320 bhp and that's it, standard stickers are removed, definitely no dump valve but I did purchase a Tomei Extreme Ti as my JDM was far too quiet, slotted discs to front and to finish off with Tein suspension. I'm over the moon with the car now. When I start the car up when I'm out shopping people walk past and say Holy S--t because of the Tomei. Great video by the way 👌
Interesting perspective. I’m also coming to the conclusion that leaving them (mostly) stock is the best way to enjoy these cars. I’m actually intentionally going to revert my FSTi to stock and sell off the thousands of dollars worth of mods I made to it for this very reason.
I currently still own my 07 wrx Sti I fully understand I did a lot of mods full e85 bigger turbo but living in California that all caused me more problems on top of maintenance and fear of breaking it. Just recently I put it basically back to stock now it’s a simple Cobb stage1 tune, Cobb AOS, and SPT Intake. Everything legal in California to have car runs like a champ. I can hop in it and go less worry. A couple of racer guys wanna take it on I just and watch them run off into the sunset. I’m totally happy cause it’s my dream car so just driving it is a pleasure.
Wow you only got that much experiance, of subaru's, owned my first and only scooby for 20 years and still ask for advice, and still feel like a novice. but love my car as much now as day one. and yeah did a lot of ruining it, but still have it running strong, and 90% very happy as it is. great heart felt vid.
So much wisdom, thanks for sharing 🙇. I have a 2011 STI GVF with a few mods making 350 and I'm at the point where I'm thinking if I went too far already regarding the sound with equal length headers, huge single exit catback, and catted dowpipe. It sounds very good but a bit too loud. Initially I wanted to go the racecar way but it's my daily car so being realistic I'm thinking of putting back the stock downpipe and keep the single exit in hopes of reducing decibels but still having a good sound.
No heating lol mate the two things I really regretted, and spoiled the driving experience for me where , headers ,standard ones sound so much better and front mount added to much lag for my liking. Your right the perfect sweet spot is 330 350 fantastic drive at that level 👏
This is a great video as it’s all about learning and some times people become embarrassed about making mistakes but it’s how you learn. I had a blitz nur spec exhaust and it was obnoxious with out loud it was - mistake! Coilovers for a road car also a mistake and that ruined the drive of it.

@@racedynamix Absolutely loved the seats in my bugeye WRX. Felt slightly disappointed after I upgraded to a widetrack Blob STi and have longed for the bugeye seats ever since.

It’s no total loss to me. 330 is my bottom figure for these I desire. As for cage, I’m still looking for the 6 point dash dodger for a 4 door so I can keep the interior.
