    Fantastic review, I've seen two great reviews so far for the v2 and really looking forward upgrading from a gt3rs to v2 base + 918 wheel. I had a v1 & wheels preordered on 8/3, they upgraded me to a v2 at no additional cost. Fanatec u guys rock!

    Hi Doug, nice review. Great to have a point of view from somebody that seems high-end enthusiast. you give the impression that your evaluations are genuine reactions to the gear in hand. As a result of your review, I've ordered and am impatiently waiting till they ship in 2 weeks time. Will send another comment with first-hand experiences ...thanks very much, vin.

    The tinted window protects the components better while still able to give the user access to view the innards.
    That's my theory anyway :D nice review, thanks!

    Great review Doug. U have never lead me wrong from my beginning into sim racing with the Fanatec CSR and elite pedals all the way up to my T500 and CSP v2 pedals. In my opinion my CSR wheel was more revealing about the tires and what they are doing than the T500 and it was less expensive. So with that said I really believe in the Fanatec products. Even the t500 had ffb fade when it heated up and it was very noticeable. I believe the CSW v2 is going to be a big step up for me. Can't wait to get this and the oculus dk2 :-) the only thing is I'm also buying a motorcycle next week, but my invite code for the CSW v2 expires in a couple days so I have to make my mind up fast :-/

    Awesome review, Doug. I think you've remembered enough there. Also thank you for the quick mention there, I hope your headache is gone by now though. haha :-)
    I finally put my father in my rig last night and he was amazed by how it felt. He was amazed by how real it felt and how powerful it felt. At times a bit too powerful for his tastes.
    Tonight he sad down behind the T500 though and there were 3 major differences he mentioned. 1. There is lag in the T500 which makes it feel indirect. Lag between the Physics in the game and the FFB being executed by the wheel, and input lag. 2. The wheel was less precise and strangely felt like he needed to turn the wheel more than on the CSW v2. 3. He felt like the T500 didn't have any torque/power at all compared to the CSW v2, and the T500 used to be a 'beefy' wheel in the eyes of sim racers.
    Those are my fathers impressions though, but I thought they were interesting so hence I share them here.
    Again, thanks for the mention and I hope everyone else will enjoy the read as much as you did. ;-)

      Thanks for sharing your father's thoughts. I think they are extremely helpful as a way to get a 'fresh' take on the base.

      maximum prerendered frames to 1 will eliminate most lag, off course ninja's might disagree.

    I really liked this review! In case of having cash I would go buy this wheel immediately :)
    I also like how you put the cosmetic changes as a minor and then started the real review :) Like whole 10 minutes about the wheel itself which is awesome! Anyway I don't want even to try one of these top-notch wheels, I like to keep my misleading idea about that my GT2 wheel is awesome and smooth and super precise.... haha. At some level it is, but racing with this CS V2 beauty must be absolutely another level of nirvana virtual racing.
    PS: Wish you all the best and keep up bringing your excellent reviews!
    I'm 34, but I'm sure I will be absolutely the same in next 10-20 years :) Holding a wheel in my hands smiling and being happy :)

    Nice review! I'm in the market to get a new wheel setup and this looks perfect. I have an Oculus Rift CV1 and it's going to be the mainstay in my race sim setup. No more monitors for this guy! If you haven't tried it already, it's an absolute game changer for immersion.

    Difficult question: When you would give point 0-100. How would you rate the Fanatec Wheel Base v1, the v2 and some Thrustmaster products (or other) in comparison? I am asking to understand how much better the v2 is comparison to all others.

    Gotta be honest maybe I’m a fool. But I just bought one that was pretty much never used looks brand new. To replace my Logitech g920. Was it mistake? Or did I make a good choice budget wise buying into the eco system and eventually just needed a csl dd drive?

    I hope we see a very nice and thorough test video of you man-handling this wheel at high settings using the usual top sims but ESPECIALLY using rFactor 2. RFactor 2's FFB is probably the best in the business, it is extremely dynamic, raw, "alive", and just overall thrilling. RF2 is probably the best sim we currently have in terms of testing a wheel's FFB to it's max potential.
    By the way, with the CSW V2, the wheel apparently has so little natural damping that Fanatec had to add in artificial damping. When playing proper sims though, you should just let the sim itself take care of this. In order to remove Fanatec's internal, added-in damping, set the drift mode (DRI) to 5 (default, I believe, is "Off"). Now the wheel is using purely the game's FFB, and that's it, no artificial Fanatec damping added in (you might want to enable it, though, for other games that don't have as good FFB as the top sims like rFactor 2, Game Stock Car, iRacing, etc. do).

    Greetings from Australia my fellow iRacer.. Long time viewer here, just wanted to say keep up the good work with the reviews! I have had my t500 for sometime and was seriously contemplating getting the v1, though numerous "horror stories" on the iRacing forums and users telling me it's not worth the risk I held off and now the v2 is here! I'm curious though, seeing it's a "beta production version for reviewers" from your time with the wheel and what you have felt would there be any changes (even minor) that you think would make it feel even better? In other words, with your experience do you think fanatec could improve the v2 further before mass production starts if it has not already?

    • @SimRacingReview
      @SimRacingReview  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. I think it is in the finished product with just software tweaks to polish it off. I think the main reason for the extensive beta testing was to reassure themselves (and us) that it could be used hard and long without issues.
      And thanks for the kind words.

    now i'm in the process of making DIY sim racing for myself. And I need some mechanical example. Can you help me please?! I need more specs of pulley, belt, motor and 3d mechanical of this fanatec sim racing. Can you help me please?

    I've never tried a wheel and at first was looking into getting the Logitech G27 as my first. However, after seeing your reviews and learning more about the CSW V2, I really want my first experience to be with this product. When do you expect Fanatec will make this available to the general public? In other words, when will the invitation only period end?

    • @mariusmodalen1863
      @mariusmodalen1863 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will never end, and you will allways have to have an invite code. I recommend you buy a CSR or a Porsche wheel with Clubsport pedals v2 (since what else suits Clubsport wheel base), and if that wheel doesn't fit your exspectations and needs, then you can buy a Clubsport wheel base.
      And a second tip, you doesn't nessesary become a better driver by getting a sim cockpit.
      So a CSR wheel would be a great start, after all, you have never tried before.

    HI Doug, I've got a question and maybe something you would want to try to do for "ALL" of Us Dumber the Dirt people that know "Very Little" about PC's and How To Load the Drivers & Firmware in the Fanatec V2 Wheel Base's. MAYBE, You Could OR Want to Make a Video with STEP by STEP Instructions on doing this? I know Myself and a Friend of mine WOULD Really Appreciate this Video So Much. Please, atleast think about this to help an Old Friend out. Please. May God Bless.

    If you are an owner of a V1 base, is this product THAT much better that it warrants the purchase of a V2?

    • @SimRacingReview
      @SimRacingReview  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      That all depends on your financial situation and your desire to have the 'best' equipment. LogiForce86's comments about his Father's first take on the base sums it up pretty well.
      I would if I could afford it.

    • @TheBallisticSerb
      @TheBallisticSerb 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      LogiForce86 being smoother and more consistent will result in you being quicker. Just like moving to a loadcell pedal setup can make you quicker due to being more consistent on the braking and being able to brake through the turns for quicker entering/exiting from the apex. Everyone is different though. I found my times went down a lot once I upgraded to the clubsport v2's and more again with hydrolic pedals

  • @nclabs5957
    @nclabs5957 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    May I ask what is your setting on the V1 wheel?

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      nclabs My final settings ultimately depend on the car and the rim I use, but here's a good starting point: SEN-900, FF-70, SHO-70, ABS-36, LIN-0, DEA-0, DRI-0, FOR-100, SPR-100, DRP-120. If I change anything I start with FOR and SPR and up them to 110. The next (Assuming you are using Clubsport pedals) is the ABS up or down just a tad.

    • @nclabs5957
      @nclabs5957 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    sorry, but bad review.you say you felt the heat on your V1 coming out of the back,strange, v1 has no fan there :-) . 25%more torque, wrong, its 75%. v1:5.5nm, wrong, lets say 4 :-)

    • @SimRacingReview
      @SimRacingReview  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheFaro06 Sorry, but bad comment. The torque on the V1 is 5.25nM while the V2 is 7nM. And mentioning the heat coming out the back was just an error while talking about V1 and V2 as if you have a V! you would realize that it exhausts out the side.

    • @TheFaro06
      @TheFaro06 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      no,it has not, why do you think fanatec themself states 75% more torque than v1, i measured myself v1 and v2, v1 has 4, v2 7
