    This wheel looks so great, I wouldn't be surprised to see some real Porsche drivers check this out, perhaps even getting into sim racing because of this wheel. This video will probably pop up when anybody does a Porsche 918 search on TH-cam.

      @RichardNavone-RimanDk 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think any Porsche driver would get into sim racing - why would they, when they have the real deal just outside the door? =) Aside from that, I fear this rim suffers from the same issue as the BMW rim I have, which is crappy button placement. The only buttons I can comfortably reach while racing without having to move my hand about are not button, but joysticks..

      A lot of people that race for real, also sim race. Check out some of the iRacing forums, pros and amateurs enjoy it as a pass time.

    I think you should lower the brightness a bit.
    Those are some fucked up prices. Typical Fanatec bs. I mean rim alone is 250bucks! I can buy a fucking car for that money.
    But in reality they don't spend 50 bucks making it. Fucking greedy bastards!

    • @JonasRosenven
      @JonasRosenven 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Greedy? How much is their profit after costs for designing it, manufacturing it, paying the rent on the building and paying the workers? A real Porsche wheel just covered in leather is easily 1500 bucks.

    • @JonasRosenven

      I'm baffled too. Maybe he's talking about R/C cars? :)

    • @RichardNavone-RimanDk
      @RichardNavone-RimanDk 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** Except, it's NOT 250 or 350 or, in this case, 400, for a peripheral. It's that much for HALF a peripheral - the other half of which already sets you back 499. Suddenly your price is 899 for the full peripheral + shipping. + taxes, if you live in the US. I have been a Fanatec customer for 3 years and I fully agree that if you are going to do something, you should go all in and do it right.. but let's not kid ourselves. This stuff IS helluva pricy!

    • @JonasRosenven
      @JonasRosenven 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually find it pretty inexpensive considering the quality and how many years you can enjoy yourself after spending the money.

    • @RichardNavone-RimanDk
      @RichardNavone-RimanDk 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jonas Rosenven that's a pretty funny comment, as the only abysmal pitfall Fanatec has is reliability. I bought a Porsche Wheel Turbo S. Worked 1 year, then the ffb motor left the building. Bought a CSR-Elite with pedals. Less than 1 year and the sensors on the steering column went. RMA. They sent me a new one. Half a year with that and it started to disconnect at random. 1 year and 1 month and the ffb motors started acting erratically. Got sent a a replacement motor that I installed myself. All well until it started acting up again with random disconnects making it impossible to do any serious driving. Retired it (sitting on my couch right now as backup) and bought a CSW with BMW rim, which I've had for 3 months now. Guess what? It's already starting to fall apart. Yeah, they look awesome and while they work, they are fantastic.. but talk of YEARS of enjoyment is a highly overrated statement.

    Your reviews are extremely helpful thank you for posting! I am most a sim pilot but also hold a real private pilot license and I am getting into sim racing. I just purchased a DOF P3 and this opened up a whole can of worms. My brother loves racing so I will let him come to my house and use my rig. Your reviews really helped me decide which sim gear to get. I ended up going with a Fanatec Clubsport V2.5, ClubSport Porsche 918 RSR wheel, V3 Pedals with two dampers, V1.5 Shifter and the V1.5 handbrake. I spent about 1800 bucks and rig was 3K after shipping. Gets expensive very fast! Now I have break out my old Puma Ferrari Shoes and start learning proper shifting techniques! Thank you once again for your vids!

    Anybody have any issues with deadzone (five degrees left an right) on the standard fanatec csr wheel? Mine does this an makes it incredibly difficult to make minor adjustments whilst turning as the game doesnt recognize the wheel turning until im out of the deadzone an the forcefeedback kicks in

  • @fernandorosebush6594

    looks to me like Fanatec is suporting you more than Darin, good for you Shaun

    • @RichardNavone-RimanDk
      @RichardNavone-RimanDk 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it's a question of Fanatec supporting anyone as such. I think Shaun and Darin have different opinions on Fanatec hardware and it shows in their reviews, that's all.

    • @RichardNavone-RimanDk
      @RichardNavone-RimanDk 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did I say that? No, I did not. So, what's your point?

    • @RichardNavone-RimanDk
      @RichardNavone-RimanDk 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's correct, that's what I said. I don't understand how that brought up your answer to that. Me saying that Darin has a different opinion to Shaun on the subject of Fanatec in no way expresses whether I think he is biased or not.

    • @Mr.Everything
      @Mr.Everything 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I remember seeing (or hearing) in one of Darin's newest videos they are no longer going to be covering Fanatec stuff. I have no clue why, he just kinda interjected that comment in. So I guess now Shaun will have a great opportunity to be the best place to go for Fanatec stuff (especially since I pretty much only watch this and ISR for sim racing.)

    I have had this rim for a few days now and I am very impressed and very satisfied!
    The LED shiftlight at the top are perfect and the leather even smells like the leather in a real new BMW or Porsche :) Really enjoying it!
    Weight and feel is spot on, not too heavy to impact subtle effects but not too light so it does not feel authentic.

    • @RichardNavone-RimanDk
      @RichardNavone-RimanDk 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How does the leather react to sweat?

    • @TheRoggan123
      @TheRoggan123 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Richard Navone It reacts just like a leather steering wheel in a real car = its very resistant. My hands tends to get very sweaty when racing for longer times, I have been using this wheel for about 10 hours driving time so far and the rim and stitching is like brand new, not a single trace of any wear.
      I have had suede and alcantara rims before and after that use they would show clear signs of wear at this point.
      The leather is exactly the same as in e.g. a BMW or Porsche, it even smells like it :)

      @JohnGeorgeHill 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Richard Navone
      Easy fix, wear gloves. I prefer inexpensive leather driving gloves found online. Every real driver uses gloves, it's a matter of practicality. Also helps the wheel look great forever.

    • @TheRoggan123
      @TheRoggan123 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      John G. Hill It helps with gloves, I have use Sparco's and OMP gloves with my suede rims (geniune OMP Superleggera suede) not to wear them down after just a few hours. But even though it helps there are still clear signs of wear even though I have always used gloves with the suede and alcantara rims. The grip with gloves and suede is awesome though.
      High quality leather is significantly more durable and stays fresh for much longer, gloves or not.
      Also its much more relaxed and cooler to drive without gloves beeing indoors and without the fire hazard (which is a key reason for mandatory glove use in real racing). With the leather rim you have the option to use gloves or not where as with alcantara or suede you are more or less forced to.

    Could you see if it works on Xbox. Because it said it’s not compatible but the clubsport wheel base is compatible with alll rims.

    • @Pulv0rtoastman
      @Pulv0rtoastman 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The clubsport wheelbase is only Xbox one ready. You have to use the right rim to actually make it compatible. The 918 RSR Wheel is not compatible with the Xbox One and so is the wheel base if you use it with the 918 RSR wheel.

  • @NickG40
    @NickG40 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would really love to have the 918 RSR rim, but at $400, I'll stick to the plain-old formula rim for now. I'm quite content with that rim anyway.
    But the Porsche wheel is pretty sexy looking...

    • @RichardNavone-RimanDk
      @RichardNavone-RimanDk 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      In terms of responsiveness and raw ffb it would disappoint you anyway. Pretty much any wheel you would bolt on after the formula rim would disappoint in that regard, because it is as light as it is. The BMW rim, which weighs in almost twice as much, can feel quite numb compared to the lighter CSR-E (more or less same weight as CSW with formula rim)

    • @NickG40

    Wow you build a nice interior for your car, but is it your everyday driving car ? the seats haven't got any cushion ^^ ? The just carbon is pretty slick.
    NB : I wish the bottom part of the wheel was flat instead of making the wheel a full circle.

    • @SuperMMCK
      @SuperMMCK 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      They do have the universal wheel hub, that lets you mount any wheel to the CSW base. And one of the addon wheel is the GT rim that is exactly how you describe it.
      This is a full scale replica of the original 918 RSR wheel and that one has no flat bottom.

      Women comes and goes but Sim racing is here to stay.
      I find it kind of tragic when men settle down and get dominated by their woman.
      You only live once and being a lapdog for a woman is just a waste of time in order to get some pussy now and then.
