500 vs 1000Hz USB sample frequency reduces input lag, but doesn't speed up firmware upgrades ;-)

I'm really glad they made this. I am really happy with my V2, so I won't be buying this anytime soon, but Fanatec's decision to make the V2 successor with the same external design allows those who want to upgrade not have to worry about losing any mods or have to drill new holes to fit whatever rig they are using. It's good to know that if my current base brakes, I will have something compatible to replace it with in the distant future.
Just ordered one of these along with the Porsche 918 RSR wheel rim. Can't wait!

Has Fanatec been wisiting school and Math classes ? The currency is 1 Euro > 1 Dollar. for 1 Euro I get 1,150 dollars, which means, EU price should be Cheaper then US even or US should be more expensive price then EU

USD prices are always published without taxes (don't ask me why, maybe because they differ from state to state in the US).

The 1000Hz polling rate on USB updates the data/positions of the axes faster to the PC and sends FFB strength adjustments to the wheel. It will not give more bandwidth on USB. As an analogy: Like upgrading from a 1080p/60Hz monitor to a 1080p/120Hz monitor. If they were to go USB3 in the future, that would increase bandwidth.

I’m struggling to believe 500hz vs 1000hz is noticeable. Who can tell the difference in 1ms? I’m sure it’s not worse at the higher refresh rather but that’s such a small change I can’t see how anyone would notice it. The wheel may be better than the 2.0 but I don’t believe refresh rate has anything to do with it from 500hz to 1000hz. It’s so far beyond the capability of reaction time it can’t be significant.

Good review, I didn't see where or if you can add the optional hand brake and I like how u can start with cheaper wheels and pedals which makes it somewhat more affordable. Also my cat would have been sitting on top of the empty box. Later.

"Cogging" kinda like when you have loose gears..the bits of space between where the gears mesh together will give a slight "dead zone"... something you want to minimize in sim racing! :P

I have the V2 but I think I'll wait to the new base to upgrade, that it's been announced to be direct wheel. In my opinion the review maybe lacks a comparison between the V2 and the V2.5, that'd be interesting for Fanatec products owners. See you enjoy VR headset! I have both, Oculus & VIVE, once you get used to it there's no way for you to come back to triples. Show us some races!
Yea i understand but unfortunately i do not own the V2 so a direct comparison was not possible. I used the V2 several times and the V2.5 is definitely better (as is should be off course) And yes i also love racing in VR! I hardly use my monitor ever again! no way back indeed ;)

I wonder how much fanatec paid her? I had a T300rs and upgraded to the Clubsport v2.5. The fanatec had some advantages... Strength, a little less resistance to turn and the tuning menu. The Thrustmaster trounced it in the quality of the force feedback. More detailed and responsive and vibrations are far superior. If you want a good wheel buy the Thrustmaster, honest opinion from me, this woman has no idea what she's talking about.. And I pray none of you ever have to deal with their customer service, they really do not give a you know what about their customers.

Can someone give a input on this. I have a T300rs and with there upgraded pedals.I'm looking to buy the V2.5 and v3 pedals. I would like an honest opinion if it's worth it. I'm not talking about the money but, the feel. Is there a noticeable difference? Also trying to decide on the wheel I like the looks of the Porsche 918 RSR but, it looks big so I may go with the BMW. I mostly race GT3. Thanks for any input guys

Do you know that playing forza horizon 4 with csw 2.5 bmw gt2 has no feedback at all? How to adjust? I don't know how to train to have the ability to give back. It was originally.

I was wondering if this wheel has a little deadzone in the middle.
My g29 wheel has this and it feels really bad.
With deadzone I mean a little space the wheel doesn’t have any force feedback.

Is that amount of response lag acceptable? Not blaming the wheel, I’m sure it’s the display, but it just seems disorienting almost.

Hmm, I'm not sure if it was just a because of how this was recorded but it looks like you may have a huge amount of input lag. consider limiting your FPS and Maximum pre-rendered frames in your video card settings. SimRacingGirl in the sections where you are playing so for example in your introduction and at the beginning of the review where you are driving the F138, there is a small but quite noticeable delay from when you move your wheel and when the wheel on screen moves to match your position.
Ah ok! I put the pixel density to high up i suppose luckily i do not notice this in the Oculus :)
It's probably the TV that has a high processing delay. Input lag looks extremely high in the F1 clips, but the rift shouldn't be affected.
I like your reviews, and I will upgrade my CSL Elite wheelbase in may to the club sport 2.5
I got already the LC Elite pedals and I got the BMW GT2 rim and the Formula rim too.
I was starting with the CSL Elite, P1 and the 2 pedal set ... upgraded after a week to the LC pedal (by adding a 3 pedal and use the former brake as clutch.) Fanatec is in this midrange section for me perfect. All components are compatible and can be upgraded as you need them.

Great review, now other company can compare to Fanatec's level of visual realism in there products definitely not a you like other wheels.
You mentioned rAcing and Asseto Corsa, I am curious to know if you have tried RaceRoom and your thoughts of the sim?
Thanks! And i'm certainly a fan of RaceRoom, i did not use it for this review but i will certainly use it for upcoming videos. RaceRoom is great but underestimated by most i think.

Huh, cogging comes from cogs, thus gears. Not motor and FW usually. That's the point of explaining the belt drive without transfer gears/cogs.
Can I connect this wheelbase to pc and Xbox at the same time ?
The only difference between the versions is the data speed (MHz) something that no one will notice any difference. What should be changed as the noisy fan and the lag and none of it has changed.

hi great review i have one of these with the Porsche 918 RSR wheel rim, and the v3 inverted pedals, but i cannot get this to work with dirt rally, it just isn't recognised at all, i found a little post somewhere that said to delete 2 folders and then verify files in steam, etc, but still no joy, can you please help, as you obviously have got it working with dirt rally, thanks in advance

Anyway, as I also use the Fanatec CWS 2.5 I was wondering what your experiences are in PC2. I don't seem to get any decent tyre slip feedback into the wheel. Have you tried PC2 with the CWS 2.5 yet?
seems you have too much clippings in your FFB... ty to adjust a little bit and you have more "sensations" and effects.

My only complaint is the music is too loud and then she when she speaks the audio is too low. Hope you can keep going and improving. Fun to see a girl that has decent knowledge about sim racing.

Question, I have the csw1 and now I dont know if Im going to buy the csw2.5 or save up to the dd2. Its alot of money is it really worth it or 2.5 is enough?

What do you mean why a belt drive like this one felt this good haha you must be used to driving a direct drive but great review this truely is the only belt drive that feels like a direct drive just without the extra ffb but for me 8nm is plenty I mean plenty of torque most good racers put the wheel set at 100 on ffb in the wheel itself and then put the games at around 10 percent yeah only 10 percent lol crazy right lol

I just got the cal elite about 3wks ago. I really enjoy it. I thought I would go up to direct drive after a while but instead once I build my pc I'm going for this base.

Great product. Im coming from a v2 and 2.5 is really better. USB at 1000hz and new motor makes the FFB more fast and responsive. Sadly the rev lights still are not working in most of sims. Waiting for a driver update to solve this issue...

Fanaleds is not working on CSW v2.5 yet. they are working in a update. I have read that in Asseto Corsa the revs are working after latest game update.
Fanaleds is working. You can download a new beta from the fanatec forums (CSW V2.5 beta driver thead)! Not sure why it is not yet on the Fanaleds website.
Gui Carioni yes, you are right. rev leds working in AC on my csl elite anyway with last update. But i'm not getting rumble on my V3's from AC drivers. thats way i still running fanaleds. good luck
