    Excellent review. Thanks for pulling off the back cover to give us a chance to see the changes inside the wheel. I beta tested the V1 wheel and also experience ffb fade and a couple other issues. Seems Fanatec has taken the right steps to improve the overall performance and durability of the CSW.

    Is this wheel night and day different from the Accuforce? I have the v1 with BMW rim and really don't like the feel it provides. Always feels like the wheels are oscillating and oval racing isn't great when tires heat up.

    I already preordered the CSW v2 base, BMW m3 gt2 qnd formula black wheel, and the club sport shifter sq. I am wondering if I should get the accuforce instead. I currently have a 911 turbo s with the 911 gt2 base, club sport v1. Pedals and an obutto ozone with oculus rift dk2.

    My V2 will be showing up on Tuesday. A couple of days ago, I received my Xbox One Universal Hub. I can't wait to use it on Forza 5/6, F1 2015, Project Cars, and when Asseto Corsa, releases on the consoles.

    I hope they can get support for both X1 and PS4 so I can get an all in one solution for all platforms. Then I just need to upgrade my seat to be a bit more stiff. Hopefully I can just modify my old PlaySeat v1 somehow because seats are hella expensive.

    Just read a good article from Bernie of Accuforce fame...the new wheel soon to be released!! Going by his views you should steer clear of anything with a belt( or belts as in the V2!!! ) as the only reason for belts is to increase the FFB because the Motor itself is too puny and weak ( read cheap!!!). Sure it feels stronger and smother than say a G27 but it also masks alot of the FFB signal. And there are other pitfalls too like rotational speed!! Cant wait for you to test the new Accuforce wheel. Your review will decide for me whether I go with the Bodnar or Accuforce!! Can't wait. I currently use a G27!

    Great videos...Question...I actually drive slightly better (we are talking a couple tenths here) with the Thrustmaster T500RS than I do with the Fanatec Clubsport Wheel V1. The T500 is not as smooth as the CSW V1 and possibly not as instantaneous either, but it's (T500) extra power/torque, rotation speed, and just the way it outputs the FFB in a more obvious and "in your face" style, makes me just that touch faster with it when really looking for that last 0.1 - 0.25 seconds...
    - How does the CSW V2 compare with the T500 (in terms of pure driving, not build quality, aesthetics, price, warranty, cooling, plastic/metal, leather/rubber, etc. just the pure driving and FFB itself)?
    - I'm assuming that the CSW V2 caught-up to the T500 and possibly even passed it in terms of raw power/torque?
    -What about the V2's top rotational speed (which I think suffered quite a bit on the CSW V1 even though it's very, very initial reactions were probably superior to the T500)?
    - What about the general "style" of FFB? I think you said that it's not as "muted" on the CSW V2 as it is on the V1. So if you were to setup the V2 so that it's torque/power output was the same as the V1, would the FFB of the V2 still feel less muted than the V1? In other words, if the V2 was setup to output the same amount of power as the V1 (through the in-game or wheel's control panel power adjustment), would it then feel no less muted than the V1, or would it still feel less muted?
    I hope you can answer these questions. I am extremely picky and extremely sensitive to different FFB, and having these 4 questions answered would really make a big difference for me, and would be VERY much appreciated.
    Thank you kindly.

    Thank you for the excellent preview. Can I assume that your statements "it's a definite improvement over the v1 base" also apply in comparison to the CSR Elite base? I don't know how they differ, but I have the Elite wheel. I should be receiving a pre-order code soon, and I'm really thinking about taking the plunge on the purchase.

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would think it would as the CSW is mostly considered to be a better feeling and performing system than the Elite. But, it's been a while since I had the Elite base, and don't have one now to compare.

    Hello Barry!
    I highly admire your reviews and so do many many people.
    Very few have a good experience like yours and dare to disassemble hardware same as you do.
    Now, I have a question and hope you can help me with it.
    My Fanatec CSP V3 brake pedal is good to be used for RIGHT FOOT BRAKING when fixed in center position, but I have to UNSCREW those 2 screws and fix the pedal a little more to the left every time I am driving a car that doesn't need to use the clutch (I mean moving it like 1 inch towards the left to make LEFT FOOT BRAKING easier).
    The only one solution I thought about is buying a BIGGER brake pedal that is drilled with the same patern.
    Do you know any mod that is a bit bigger to replace my Fanatec Clubsport V3 brake pedal?
    Or do you think I can buy any plate or any DIY solution?

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Don't know if any. If it were me I would just cut out some 1/8" aluminum plate to the width I needed. Drill some counter sunk holes that match Fanatec's pattern, and install. There are some 3D print services that could probably make what you want, but it would cost a bit more. I found this company with a quick search, but have not dealt with them before: www.shapeways.com/product/62HJBG4AC/fanatec-clubsport-brake-sparco-tilton-style

    How would you compare it to the fanatec DD1

  • @Spinelli__
    @Spinelli__ 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I noticed the video says "preview", and also that it's much shorter than most of your wheel videos. Will you be doing a longer review of this wheel (especially regarding the actual driving and FFB part)? I would love to see how you think the actual in-game performance (FFB) compares to the T500RS and the T300RS/TX if you've experienced any of those.
    I have an invite code for the CSW V2 and am absolutely torn on if I should get it or not. I just sold my T500RS, and I've heard a couple people say that the Thrustmaster T300RS/TX FFB is better than the CSW V2 even though they have less torque. They say that just something the way the Thrustmaster outputs the FFB, something about the feel, that Thrustmaster have just nailed it and therefore offers a much better experience (again, even though they have less torque). Then again, I've heard others obviously say the CSW V2 is better.

    After enormous reliability issues with my Thrustmaster and Fanatec products I'm thinking about taking the plunge and getting a true high end wheel base instead of the V2. The Frex looks like the best deal in regards to price vs quality vs rim cost. Have you spent any time with it? Is there another brand you'd recommend instead? Any advice you can offer would be hugely appreciated.

    How do you prevent the clipped? Just lower the amount of FFB? You had yours set to only 12%. What causes the clipping? Do you set the FFB to 100 on the wheel, and then adjusted it in iRacing?

    • @simracinggarage3026

      Yes, 100 in driver, and adjust to taste in which ever game I am using at the time.

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      MStreppelhoff Not a dumb question at all! These are grooved serpentine belts. Similar to what is on our car engines to drive motor accessories, as in AC compressors, alternators, power steering pumps and the like.

  • @IgnazioPinella
    @IgnazioPinella 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not relegated directly to the wheel, but I remember you where using a HE pedal set. If it is still the case, then why you put the brake force factor to 1.80 in iRacing? It should be set to 0 to have the best feeling from a load cell pedal. :)
    As for the wheel, I'm really curious to test 1, I'm still with a G27 and was nearly ready to buy a CSW V1 last June, maybe it's the right time now ;)

      Sim Racing Garage i completely understand now, thanks for clarifying :) BTW, nice review. Most people seems pretty happy about this new wheel, i just think that it hit the 1000€ mark with just a wheel and shipping, i want to see how the AccuForce will be priced for us in Europe and then i will make a choice, even if i think that it will be a lot considering VAT 20% (IVA for us in Italy, which is even more, 22%) and shipping. But this is a passion so maybe i will end buying the best i can afford :)
      Cheers

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      This Beta base has improved on the V1's immediacy. To me it is better than my T500 base now. The Bodnar is still levels above anything out there as far as FFB quality. But of course for the price difference, it had better be! Still, we have to wait to see what the SimXperience Accuforce wheel can deliver!.

    Quick question and a little off topic, but I am curious if there is a significant difference in weight between the BMW and the new Porsche rims. I have read that the Porsche rim is lighter, which I would assume would mean improved ffb strength and effects.

      The CSW V2 to me has more precise FFB feeling. My T500 is a great, dependable base. It just gets the job done. I sold my CSW V1 once I got my T500 because of FFB fade issues I had with the CSW. The T500 could stand a refresh I think with all the new wheel systems coming out soon. Then again, usually that means more cost for us. So, have to be careful what we wish for.

    How does this CSW V2 base compare to the new thrustmaster TX base?

    • @Davy15
      @Davy15 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a tx and a csw v2 the best way i can compare them is the csw v2 has the presicion of the tx but also the muscle ffb strength the thrustmaster t500 and you can make more adjustments on the csw v2 on the fly with the wheel's tuning menu on degrees of rotation ffb strength and shock strength how much deadzone you want if needed you can change or linearity in the wheel you have a lot more adjustiblility with the csw v2 and theres more options in the tuning menu then what i just said and you can create 5 setups in the menu for different racing titles and the other difference is the csw v2 is compatible with both ps4 and xbox one and even ps3 and obviously pc now the tx is compatible with xbox one and pc you can adjust to 4 different degrees of rotation on the fly 270,360,540, and 900 and on the tx you can adjust the sensitivity of the wheel it has 4 different sensitivity and u can change more different settings in the TM driver on your pc anyways hope this answers your question

    Is it possible for you to test your wheels (especially in terms of FFB testing) using rFactor 2? RFactor 2's FFB is probably the best in the business, it is extremely dynamic, raw, "alive", and just overall thrilling.
    RFactor 2 is probably the best sim we currently have in terms of testing a wheel's FFB to it's max potential.

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. I think rfactor2 has some of the best feedback today. I do test the wheels I use in rfactor2 and Assetto Corsa. I just don't show it in my videos. And sometimes it is not as straight forward to configure some hardware in Assetto Corsa and especially rfactor2. I have to jump through hoops to get my Bodnar to work correctly in rfactor2. And when a new build comes out, it seems I have to start all over again. And sometimes I just don't have time to play with and "tweek" the .ini settings. iRacing continues to be the go to, "plug and play" Sim racing package. And I really don't understand why the other Sims can't do the same, although I will give credit to Assetto Corsa, for being a lot more hardware friendly than rfactor2. Remember, I don't do these reviews for a living, only for the fun of it. I have a real daytime job like most of you. In the future I will try to show pedal set and wheel system use in all 3 of the major sim racing packages out now. But due to time constraints, I can't promise it.

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Chris D The Accuforce is a completely different animal than the CSW V2. Really no way to compare them, apples and oranges and all... If you have the funds for an Accuforce, I would recommend an OSW FFB
      wheel solution for the best FFB experience. But the Accuforce does have it pluses.

    • @lxxdakinexxl
      @lxxdakinexxl 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sim Racing Garage Thanks so much for the prompt reply. I would love to get a direct drive like the Accuforce, but not sure if I can swing the funds. As far as the CSW V2, how does it compare against the Thrustmaster T300 or T500. One option for me would be to get something cheap like the T300 and then upgrade to a direct drive later. The CSW v2 is in between and I'm affraid I will be wasting my money for not that much improvement over the Thrustmaster. Thank you!

    • @jamesdean4992
      @jamesdean4992 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Chris D For the same price really, do the osw project hands down. This fanatic cost a 1000 dollars and the osw project is about the same to do (with a more generic wheel that is) As far as the thrust master's go, they are not quite what the fanatic is. They do not have as much force feed back strength as the fanatic or dd, then again in real life (gt3 cars for example) don't fight you that much through the wheel as said by the racers themselves when on dd's. Some types of cars do how ever more so (like heavy no power steering cars), but generally I think not as much as what most sim racer run. I think the thrust masters are good wheels for budget minded people. They get the job done and they are pretty accurate...plus it's a hell of a lot better than a controller lol.

      Marco Forestieri No, it is not as good as the Bodnar system. The Bodnar is a couple of levels better at FFB than the Fanantec, IMO. But, again, these two wheel systems couldn't be any more different from one another. Really not fair to try and compare the V2 to a the Bodnar.

    Please add the disclaimer "Don't try this at home!".
    I disassembled my base by unscrewing the front side of it (mistake), and now I'm trying to figure out how to assemble it again.
    The reason I disassembled, because my Fanatec universal hub buttons and paddle shifts are not working until I try many times so I thought first about cleaning the dust in the wheel and in the base.

      You disassemble the base because the universal hub buttons aren´t working? That doesn´t make any sense :D Good luck bro

      @@azaralamouri5140Asks for "Don´t try this at home" disclaimer, opens his base for no reason (on the wrong side!), can´t reassemble it. Calls himself professional engineer. Sounds about right

    Nice and noticeable improvement but at comparing cost/performance ratio vs say the accurforce wheel, i'm waiting for Accurforce wheel. It's a bargin compared to the v2. $2000 for the Accuforce. That'll give you around 16Nm torque (if not more) and that's both continuous and peak. Also the complete absence of any transmission (i.e. direct drive) meaning ffb characteristic is consistent in all modes of rotation (from static to max velocity) because it's direct drive.
    Based on those performance differences one can except from such a wheel at only $2000, i believe the relative price of the CSW V2 (with a rim included) should be no more than $500. At $900 for the porsche rim and v2 base....it's either totally overpriced or the Accuforce is tottally underpriced. I'm thinking more the latter which is a great thing for me ofc since it's the one i really desire.

      +DrR1pper Huh? That's more than twice the price. It's supposed to be better. They each have their own market. If you want bargain for performance, go the OSW route. Cheaper than Accuforce and much better.

      john ulmer Yeah, i wrote that with the information i had at the time.
      OSW for sure the best price to performance ratio but still think the Accuforce has a better price to performance ratio than the CSWv2 if talking about motor output performance (i.e. torque and responsiveness since non DD wheels require additional transmissions to increase their torque output at the cost of speed which translates to less power output).

      Well, that's obviously very subjective and nowhere near being an objective viewpoint. I have a V2 and have used an Accuforce. If the V2 is dialed in properly, which takes a bit of work, there is nowhere near as big of a difference that you are implying in my opinion. The Accuforce is better, but not twice as much so. It's not as big of a difference as say going from a G27 to a V2. Of course, that falls under the law of diminishing returns.

      john ulmer Fair enough. I've not tried either so i will defer to your better judgement with first hand experience.
      So do you consider one to have a better price-to-(ffb)performance ratio over the other?

      DrR1pper keep in mind, that my answers are also going to be subjective. To me, the price to performance crown goes to the TX wheel base. The V2 is better, but costs a good bit more. For me, the price of the V2 was still reasonable so I switched to it. When I tried the Accuforce, the difference felt a little bigger than from the TX the V2. But it certainly wasn't $1000 better. Especially considering the quality of the modular accessories that come from Fanatec. In the end, the V2 hasn't left me with any feelings that it is lacking. The cheaper wheels I used in the past always had drawbacks that drove me crazy. The V2 is the first one I've had that didn't give me that feeling. I went from a Momo, to a G25, to a G27, to a TX, to a t500, quickly back to a TX, to a V1 (step down from the TX), and then quickly to the V2.
