You know I have high functioning autism and I'm in a wheelchair and I get depressed sometimes but I have to say your video made me feel better during the video I was like I like these people so now I'm going to subscribe because you guys remind me of myself you're handy and resourceful and smart
Wow Caleb, that is a very high compliment thank you. I am glad this brought you joy. You listed a lot of obstacles upon yourself but all of them can be mastered by you. High functioning autism makes you unique, you see things a different way and sometimes (a lot of times) we need a different way. A wheelchair is an obstacle for sure but I always tend to look at the bright side of things, it is the only way I survive, so for me I would find groups of people in the same predicament surround myself with people who understand me then we all go to theme parks and get first inline at everything! Depression sucks, I have loved ones who have bouts of that as well. Find someone to talk to, practice mindfulness (TH-cam has a ton of videos on this) and above everything find the silver lining and focus on that. In every situation there is a silver lining, even if it is miniscule it is there and that is where you direct your attention, hang on to those thoughts and then when you are prepared, focus on the not so pretty, work through it but never lose track of the silver lining. Hang in there Caleb, things will get better!!!! Thank you for sharing your story with us and I hope you find some of our other videos entertaining for you as well. Take care.
LOL which is why we needed AC lol. People always tell us not to camp in the summer but with kids we don't have much of a choice lol. The heat is no joke!!
This has been the most helpful camping video I have found! I have been watching TH-cam camping videos for a week straight before I stumbled across yours! I really appreciate you taking the time to post this. You gave lots of helpful information.
Thank y'all so much for taking the time to post a video like this. I'd love to see a post-camping clean up vid! Setting up and shutting down are the most stressful for me when camping
A lot of it is in the mind-set, for me. Setting up and tearing down is part of the fun, an associated activity that's also a pleasure, due to the association. I'm not a morning person, so that's my only thing about breaking camp. There's a tendency to rush, because you want to get somewhere by a specific time, etc. That makes it work, for me. One strategy is to begin packing up the night before. Get it down to just what you need to sleep and make breakfast. You can do the same thing setting up. Do enough to get dinner and bed time taken care of, and finish spreading out the next day. Do it in stages. Not everyone can set up for a week or more at a shot. Weekenders should probably not get too elaborate, but that's where I come back to the "associated fun" idea. Some people enjoy the setting up and breaking down. Those chores are just part of the experience, just moving around out in the fresh air, enjoying the fresh air and the people you're with.
I pitch a tarp on top of my 10 person tent. Its not one of those cheap heavy tarps but made for actual an actual shelter. It has reflective material so it reflects the sun. It does a great job of keeping the temperature down. But This is an awesome glamping set up
Thank you! We thought about a tarp like that but then thought that having the mesh open would still make it hotter than what our goal was. Your way sounds easier lol.
We love the kitchen too, just hate that it scratches so easily. We do need a bigger griddle, the larger our kids get the more space we need to cook haha.
I have a similar set up for camping. Where I usually camp at I get 5g service ( tmobile) I have the samsung s22 ultra and used a dex adapter to a projector to a projector screen (ozark trail) and watch live UFC PPV on a Saturday night while camping. So many people around the campsite watched my projector from afar . And because the projector also projects behind the projector screen I had 3 campsites watching also. I caused a ruckus lol.
That's great hahaha. We have TMobile as well, sometimes we get lucky with service and other times we don't. I bet you made a lot of people happy with your UFC haha.
In the beginning of the video you mentioned watching your step for the lines on the canopy. They can be super hard to see so for mine I use pool noodles. Just get a brightly colored one cut into whatever length you want and use a razor blade to cut a slit for the string to go through and pop it on. Makes it way easier to see especially at night. And if you do get caught on it offers some padding. Also light way and easy to transport.
We appreciate that, thank you. I think when something is unconventional it receives criticism but it does not bother us. We slept comfortable and cool at night haha.
What I do with my tent is, is put a tarp over the top before adding the fly... This way is a double barrier for rain, keep heat in and or when running your air conditionor. Just a suggestion. But great set. Enjoy camping.
@judiantonacci475 we have seen that done before and thought about it. We have since switched to a pop up camper but still tent camp with cub scouts. Only our set up with scouts is much simpler lol.
Good video. This is real life, and to think it`s done by one time or no " mistake ", is not how it is. - Thanks for a great vid. and thanks for sharing.
We have a large 5th wheel toy hauler and for a few years the wife and I loved hauling it all over because our son was very young and it was easy to contain him inside and have basically a home with us wherever we went. The problem with a travel trailer is that many state and county parks within 3-4 hours of where we live can't accommodate trailers, so we were kinda limited as to where we could go. Places built for trailers are usually like large asphalt parking lots which is not much fun. So we are going back to tent camping now that our son is older and will enjoy camping and fishing in the country and we can get to the more rugged destinations that require 4WD and a tent. You guys really go all out with your camp, looked like fun. How long do you guys stay when you set up like that with everything?
We like to camp a minimum of 3 nights. Will only camp less on special occasions and when the weather is a bit cooler so we don't have to go to the extremes. We actually update to a popup now and love it. Have you thought about a popup? We now only tent camp with boy scouts.
@kelvinlowe7316 Thank you! The disco bed made a huge difference to the comfort level of both sleeping and not feeling cramped when all of us are in the tent. Happy Camping ☺️
Aww thank you! We had to say goodbye to our Ezra doggy in May 😭. We brought a Goldendoodle into the mix in March, have not taken him camping yet. Hoping he is as great as our Ezra was.
A duel hose AC unit is the way to go with tents. A single hose creates a negative pressure and sucks hot air back into the tent making it not work as well.
I've only primitive camped and thinking about trying glamping. FYI your A/C link might need to be updated. I do have a question about tent A/C use. Which will work better in a tent, a unit with air exiting the top or the side?
@punktexas thanks for the heads up, I have updated the link however our model is no longer out but this looks to be similar. amzn.to/4bCwxEp I think a unit with air exiting the side would be better because it is likely that your tube will be coming out from the floor of your tent. Primitive camping is "ok" to us LOL, we just are spoiled and want to sleep with AC. Good luck and happy camping!
I have a few questions… I’m a new Jeep owner n part of a Jeep group that caps out a lot. It could be for 1 night with no water or electricity or an entire weekend with a shower and bathrooms. I’m quite interested in the Dewalt storage that you have, but I did not see a link to the one that you have. First let me say I am not a Fufu girl, but I like AC! I did not see where you posted your favorite portable AC unit….. 100 degrees sucks, but will not stop me from camping n trail riding with my JEEPers. What was your favorite AC unit, and does it also put out heat? Another question, where did you find the table with the sink. Big Question, I’ve been sleeping in my Jeep for camping….I don’t want to anymore. I’d like to buy a 4-6 person tent with windows to open if great weather, also love the mesh top, but will give that up to stay cool when it gets hot. Should I not get a tent that has the mesh top, your husband did mention about getting another tarp to put over the tent. Do y’all think it’s best to forgo getting a tent with the mesh top?
@brigittewalker6904 The DeWalt storage "kitchen" was a hand-me-down sorta speak. It was my husband's when he worked construction, we love it! Here is a link to a new model they have now: amzn.to/3XJTIGF The AC is magical but on the bigger side, not sure what you are towing with your jeep and we have never tried it with solar power, we always camp with electric: amzn.to/3Y6767N The AC does not have heat, we bring this along on colder nights: amzn.to/3XrjX4g We recently bought a buddy heater but have not camped with it yet: amzn.to/3JoiDez The sink is a dream but Lifetime stopped producing it (not sure why). This is similar but does not have the same nozzle: amzn.to/3XJUUd7 As for the mesh it is pretty difficult to find one without mesh in Texas and not pay $$$. We prefer no mesh to keep the AC/heat from escaping however mesh for you would be helpful in the summer months when camping off grid. So I guess you have to decide which you do more camping of and if you are willing to spend the time to cover the mesh on days you are using AC/heat. Thanks for watching!!
Try pine pellets from Harbor freight for your toilet. They are five dollars for a huge bag that will last you all year camping and it smells like fresh pine and it’s biodegradable and not harmful like the clay kitty litter that doesn’t break down also absorbs urine a whole lot better than the clay kitty litter as well. Hope this helps. I just learned this last couple years myself.
We camp every weekend, takes us 30 mins total setup and tear down, how to you get the courage to setup and pick up all this stuff, hope your staying at least a week, insane
Haha set up and take down is roughly 2 hours. We camp for 3 nights most of the time, we enjoy it! One day we hope to get something like an Opus though to go over landing.
Aww, thank you! So at first Ezra wanted to eat Mousse haha. He thought she was a toy that never stopped moving, so for 3 or 4 months Mousse stayed in our daughter's room with the door always closed but this helped him get used to her smell. From there we would have them meet a little here and there and then one day during Snowmagedon in Texas we lost power and had to stay with a friend, all of us crammed in one room. It was during that time that we saw they became friends, they were actually cuddling. From then on Ezra does not even blink an eye to Mousse bouncing around everywhere haha.
@@thestegmonsters I just ordered a vango air tent from the uk to California. Took about 2 weeks and had to go through customs but it was worth it. Happy camping.
@frankenstein3163 yes the tarps are sun reflective. They make a HUGE difference, without them, A/C or not you will bake during the day. We like Be Cool because they are light and the mesh like material allows the wind to penetrate so it isn't a giant hot box. And thank you for the compliment ☺️
@@thestegmonsters yes I did actually comment on the wrong one but I watched yours now and I enjoyed all of your tips! Thank you! Can’t wait for our first camping experience 😁
@joshuasmith8988 we use a Uhaul to lug it all around. Set up for us would take exactly an hour and forty-five minutes sometimes pushing 2 hours depending on the kids or animals we had with us.
Yes, we camp primarily at state parks using an "RV" spot. There is a pedestal at the campsite with a breaker box and outlets. We bring a heavy duty extension cord with us to use. Near the electrical post is a water spout where we put a 2 way connector on and then hook up our water hose. Does that make sense?
Was ur AC unit attached to a power outlet from the camp site or do you guys use a power station like a jackery? And which projector is that. Thanks I love your detail will do more research on camping during hot days will be with 2 babies during our camp trip
Hello we use shore power from the state parks. I will check on the projector and get back to you. Thank you for the compliment and best of luck camping with the littles, it can be done, just takes patience. We normally leave the car running on really hot days while we set up, it keeps the kids contained until they can find relief in the tent or jump in the lake.
We bought the RCA projector from Target but I found the exact model on Amazon. amzn.to/3MzzSLd We like that is is not crazy expensive and it does the trick for movie night wind down in bed.
Great set up but I am wondering how long you camp at a time because it seems to be a lot of work? I am an old disabled grandmother that camps in my 2010 dodge grand caravan and everything I need is inside. But I especially love your sink! And since I Usually camp off grid I couldn’t take an AC but boy I would love to❤
Thank you! Set up takes roughly 2 to 2.5 hours. My husband was in the military and he told me his days of roughing it are over. If we camp, we will camp in comfort 🤣. We typically camp for 3 nights at a time and I am sure we will downsize once we are no longer totting the kids along for the ride but until then these comforts make our time with them more enjoyable. Happy camping!!
@@thestegmonsters Dad was the same way. "I did all that stuff in the 82nd. I learned two things: How to survive and how comfortable my easy chair is at home, by comparison."
For the cot we have the Hbaid Roll Up Memory Foam bought from Walmart. For the floor we use the QOMOTOP Camping Mattress Self-inflating, 4" Ultra thick We like both of them! The one bought from Walmart is more narrow, great for a cot but on the floor it is not as comfortable but still beats a blow up. The Qomo is awesome.
We have never had a theft problem in the 2 years we have been camping. At night we put some stuff in the U-Haul and during the day our doggie stays in the tent, he is an old boy who doesn't fuss so no one knows he is there.....unless they tried to come in the tent.
@@thestegmonsters that’s good. I’m going to start camping alone and was thinking about what to do. Like every time I leave camp will I have to put everything in car again.

Are you talking about the splitter that we have or our water hose itself? We got the hose from AutoZone of all places. www.autozone.com/wash-mitts-chamois-and-other-wash-and-wax-accessories/sprayer/p/proelite-50ft-high-pressure-hose/895997_0_0
@JasonXBeats It is actually HOWEVER we have had to patch up the floor faster than expected and the zipper between the cabins doesn't zip all the way. Core will supposedly replace the tent, we need to get in that and find out for sure though. The zipper could be wear and tear from 3 littles, I do expect better for the amount of money we paid for this tent, I will still be a happy customer if they do replace it.
@@thestegmonsters I always get insurance on any tent I buy I just bought 3 tents all insured. I love y’all’s system in this video I’m still watching it lol
Also another thing I don't like about this is the very front cabin the doors into the tent has a thin netting panel along the bottom and this is not very helpful if you're in a torrential downpour and your site is a little sloped it's also not great because little bugs like ants and tiny spiders have a better chance at getting in. Aside from all of this though lol I still like it.
Hello, This is our AC model ☺️ www.homedepot.com/p/Toshiba-10-000-BTU-7-000-BTU-DOE-115-Volt-WiFi-Portable-Air-Conditioner-with-Dehumidifier-Mode-and-Remote-for-up-to-300-sf-RAC-PD1013CWRU/314620248
Past the AC we use Be Cool Solutions for the tarps and a misting system. All of this together really knocks down the temp during the day when the sun is at its hottest.
Ugh, really dislike some people!! No we have never had that problem. If anyone has tried we wouldn't know about it, our dog stays in the tent when we are out and about. He's an old boy that doesn't bark but he would if someone was coming in the tent lol so that would likely scare them off. We know of people who padlock their tent when they leave, it isn't fool proof but it is a deterrent!
Hello, this is a link to the A/C that we have. This one works really well however we are looking at getting a dual A/C soon so the intake isn't drawing from inside the tent but from the outside. This will help keep the tent walls from sucking in and we think it will make things cooler in the tent. www.homedepot.com/p/Toshiba-10-000-BTU-7-000-BTU-DOE-115-Volt-WiFi-Portable-Air-Conditioner-with-Dehumidifier-Mode-and-Remote-for-up-to-300-sf-RAC-PD1013CWRU/314620248
It’s very important to be able to vacation without breaking the bank 🏦 a cheap hotel 🏨 room can cost you No less than $150 a night that is not sustainable for a family of four or five if you want to spend a week or more out away from home in a nice fun place for adults and children.
We camp in state parks so predators coming in would be rare and we have our dog as a deterent as well. Our tent always remained cool, she always had fans on her as well. We have had her for 4 years now and she does really well on adventures. Now we camp with a pop up camper with 2 ACs so she is always in a cool environment. Mousse Mousse is always our main concern when on adventures
I mean that's not really true. You guys come up with bada$$ overland trailers lol. We love camping, no need to die of a heatstroke to do it lol. 107 is HOT!! Also we like comfort 🤷♀️ in fact we just bought a pop-up camper!

It was during that time that we saw they became friends, they were actually cuddling. From then on Ezra does not even blink an eye to Mousse bouncing around everywhere haha.
Too bad we cant get the same Coleman tents they have in Australia. You'd be shocked to see the blackout and led tents they have there.
We do have some blackouts and LED tents here. We would like one of the air/inflatable tents personally.
@@thestegmonsters I just ordered a vango air tent from the uk to California. Took about 2 weeks and had to go through customs but it was worth it. Happy camping.
I'm a glamper, I loved your walk through. Thanks for sharing.
We're did you get your dresser? I really could use it in my tent.
It does not seem to be in stock right now but this is what we got. amzn.to/3LRwomZ
Thank you for the compliment, happy camping!!
Love you're setup. Are the tarps sun reflective. I'm trying to make a cheep temp setup like this with a tent, ac Wile I repear and work on my RV.
@@thestegmonsters :)
Love the view! Which Cabin was that? I’m trying to book a cabin now and your video was the first good tour I’ve seen so far.
I think you commented on the wrong video. Which cabin video are you referring to? InnHabit or Lazy Buffalo?
And thank you for the compliment 😊 we appreciate it!
@@thestegmonsters yes I did actually comment on the wrong one but I watched yours now and I enjoyed all of your tips! Thank you! Can’t wait for our first camping experience 😁
How do you haul all of that stuff? Do you just pack the back of a truck or do you need a trailer? Also, how long does set up take? Thanks!
@joshuasmith8988 we use a Uhaul to lug it all around. Set up for us would take exactly an hour and forty-five minutes sometimes pushing 2 hours depending on the kids or animals we had with us.
so this is camping with water and electric hookups? If you can show us how the power comes to your campsite
Hey, your videos are awesome! Lovely setup! I wonder how are you using a AC on a camp site? How are you doing that? I always figured it will blow..
Thank you!!! The AC works great and we never have any issues at State Parks camping with electricity.
Got it thanks!!! Keep posting your videos!!
We bought the RCA projector from Target but I found the exact model on Amazon. amzn.to/3MzzSLd
We like that is is not crazy expensive and it does the trick for movie night wind down in bed.
Lol that's great.
(Your comment never popped up that there was a response. Sorry for the late reply) 🤦♀️
what was the brand of pad for the cot that your husband was using?
For the cot we have the Hbaid Roll Up Memory Foam bought from Walmart. For the floor we use the QOMOTOP Camping Mattress Self-inflating, 4" Ultra thick
We like both of them!
The one bought from Walmart is more narrow, great for a cot but on the floor it is not as comfortable but still beats a blow up. The Qomo is awesome.
What tarps are those? I hate the wind going inside the tent.
Are you asking what we put over the mesh? This is what we bought, I think we bought 3 of them to cut up. amzn.to/44aUSx4
Your privacy room or restroom tent, where did you get that at?
Here is the link, it is great because it is short enough to be inside. amzn.to/3xJR5cT
@@thestegmonsters Thank you!
Where did you get the 3 large tarps
They are from Be Cool Solutions bought from Amazon
When u leave the camp do u worry about someone stealing your stuff?
We have never had a theft problem in the 2 years we have been camping. At night we put some stuff in the U-Haul and during the day our doggie stays in the tent, he is an old boy who doesn't fuss so no one knows he is there.....unless they tried to come in the tent.
@@thestegmonsters that’s good. I’m going to start camping alone and was thinking about what to do. Like every time I leave camp will I have to put everything in car again.
@@kayepperson189 we camp predominantly in state parks and have never had an issue, we hope you have the same kind of luck!
I put a paddle lock on my tent and make friends with security 😁
Do you use a cargo trailer? Amazing video!
Thank you! Yes, right now we are renting from U-Haul until we find a trailer we want.
@@thestegmonsters we are in NC and are looking at a shop called Hickory enclosed trailers, great prices! What is your AC unit?
This is our AC Unit 😊 www.homedepot.com/p/Toshiba-10-000-BTU-7-000-BTU-DOE-115-Volt-WiFi-Portable-Air-Conditioner-with-Dehumidifier-Mode-and-Remote-for-up-to-300-sf-RAC-PD1013CWRU/314620248
Is the tent normally this high (height wise), or did you make an addition?
Did not make an addition, that is the height of the tent.
What brand of hose nozzle and holder are you using?
Are you talking about the splitter that we have or our water hose itself? We got the hose from AutoZone of all places. www.autozone.com/wash-mitts-chamois-and-other-wash-and-wax-accessories/sprayer/p/proelite-50ft-high-pressure-hose/895997_0_0
@@thestegmonsters I'm talking about the thing clamped to your camp sink attached to the hose.
@@VanLe-ne8eg oh, that came with the lifetime sink we purchased from Amazon.
Do you use generator for power?
No, we camp at state parks with electricity and water hook ups.
Instead of kitty litter , try horse pellets from tractor supply or wherever, works much better
Never heard of that, can you tell us the differences between the two? Thanks for the suggestion as well!
@@thestegmonsters much better absorption, no smell
Sweet! We will check that out, always looking to approve. Thanks!
Is that CORE tent still holding up?
@@thestegmonsters what is that black duffel bag you have on top of the dresser thing, link?
Thank you! We normally buy insurance on stuff....maybe we did this go around? A lot of life has happened since we bought this lol.
What is the cooling system?
Hello,
This is our AC model ☺️ www.homedepot.com/p/Toshiba-10-000-BTU-7-000-BTU-DOE-115-Volt-WiFi-Portable-Air-Conditioner-with-Dehumidifier-Mode-and-Remote-for-up-to-300-sf-RAC-PD1013CWRU/314620248
Past the AC we use Be Cool Solutions for the tarps and a misting system. All of this together really knocks down the temp during the day when the sun is at its hottest.
Awesome!!!👠🚌👠
Thank you!
where do you get power?
We camp at state parks using their sites with electric and water.
Isn’t that Ms. Marvel? (aka Brie Larson) Must be in her ‘camping wife’ disguise, but I think she gets her power from outer space 🪐😂🤓🙌
Do you ever have anyone take things from your tent when your away? I had someone steal items when we were away.
Slauceum Kingdom?
Possum Kingdom, sorry the edit here made it a little choppy.
You didn’t talk about the a/c
Very very true!
That rabbit's scent can attract predators not to mention the heat can kill your bunny. Camping with a bunny really puts him or her at risk.
I see four beds but five families members? Where does mom sleep?
There is an air mattress sitting on the top bunk, we put that on the floor for dad to sleep on at night then pick it up during the day.
