The tip about securing an electric site so you can setup a fan is brilliant! I’m a new to camping, and was absolutely miserable last weekend when trying to sleep in 90 weather. Thank you!
@@zacharyhardin426 sorry to hear that. For most of my life, I spent summer vacations up in Wisconsin & Michigan where the nights were cooler. Thanks for watching and sending this note.
Excellent pointers! I wrote everything down and will keep it handy to refer to when I get ready to go out on my first camping adventures in my new/old minivan! Thanks so much! Great information!
Fantastic set up information. At 62 years of age I have been a camper since age 1 so I've set a few camps up. A tip for guy lines I get pool noodles at a dollar store I use half of one and thread my line into it for the ones that my be a trip factor it makes them very easy to see.
Great details on choosing, setting up, arrangement of a campsite. Almost 55 years of camping experience would consider you an expert camper. You've traveled far and beyond when camping. I enjoyed watching and learn something every time I watch one of your videos. Thank you for sharing. Take care Frazier D... Friend. 🇺🇲
Thanks Jason, your are about the most knowledgeable person I know about backpacking. Around here people go on 2 or 3 overnight trips in good weather and think they are experts. But, You are THE man.
I've saved this so I can go back a few times and make notes. Disorganization requires chaos. If you're organized, it doesn't matter that you don't know what you're doing, it'll look like it. In this case, that means that we'll have a much better trip for having crossed your path so if you're still around, thank you...
Another thing to help keep camping easier is to have dedicated storage bins and dedicated kitchen equipment. My wife and I bought 3 large totes to fit most of the gear and kitchen equipment into. That way we don't have to raid the kitchen for utensils and pans. Tote 1 - camp fuel, propane tanks, table torch, lights (lanterns, flashlights, solar lights), ropes, tarps, tripod grill, fire starters, table cloth. Tote 2 - propane stove, utensils, pots, pans, enamel plates/bowls/cups/silverware, other kitchen stuff Tote 3 - blankets, first aid, bug spray, and we'll add batteries and games. Then when its time to pack the truck we grab the totes, a cooler for the perishables, canvas bags for non perishables, luggage, tent, screen dome canopy, cots, cot pads, sleeping bags, tiki poles, and tarp poles. Much easier with dedicated storage and dedicated kitchen gear. Get your storage bins and kitchen utensils either at dollar tree or walmart to keep costs low. Ocean state job lot has stuff for cheap like batteries vs going to a home improvement store. Camping equipment is an investment so there is some upfront cost if you like camping. I DONT recommend going cheap on your tent - buy quality. Cots are better than air mattresses because it won't leak or tear and you have a foot of space from the ground, and pads for them make it almost like you're on a real mattress. Buy quality cots and pads.
@@moderntentcamping I have an '09 Ford Ranger. The bed gets full and the rest goes in the child seat area in the cab. It fills up good. As we hope to have kids, we don't know what we'll do at that point. Probably have to take two vehicles! Buy a 20x16 tarp and use it as a roof for your tent. Have one end lower than the other (where it makes sense) so if it rains your tent doesnt get very wet, if at all, and you have a dry area to sit outside the tent.
This is a common practice in the Smokies where it rains several times a week. We just sit in our kitchen tent or go for a ride. Thanks for the comment.
