Dr William is a priceless fountain of knowledge. He's laying out the benefits of the foods he recommends with great clarity, from a scientific platform.
@@dougbopst1 Sure, the biggest takeaway was when the good doc said that the body metabolism has an inbuilt mechanism geared to automatically promote good health. Secondly, his testimony regarding disorders arising from inadequate sleep and the high stress levels medical students are put through. That was an eye-opener. Lay people are geared to think of doctors as robust individuals, immune to all ailments common to man. We view them as super heroes, out to save humanity
Dr.Sten Ekberg,Dr.Jason Fung,Dr.Eric Berg….fallowing and watching their videos,I applied what I learned from their videos…now my blood sugar back to normal and I’m not taking anymore maintenance drugs for blood pressure and cholesterol..I’m in LCIF
I love tomatoes, but I heard they have lectins that are very damaging unless you peel and deseed them. Also strawberries have an incredible amount of peticides that cannot be washed off their surface ( one of the dirty douzen) unless you you wash them with baking soda. He should mention these facts...
True we stopped eating strawberries because of that. Maybe the once in the farmers market those are safer to eat. I am not sure about tomatoes because so many different opinions so i only eat them sparingly. I now buy my vegetables at the farmers market they taste way better and are grown more ethically and i like to support our local farmers as well.
Dr. Li isn't going to mention the lectins because it's likely bogus information. Look at the doctor's videos who criticizes tomatoes - they're all sensationalized. He's going after click bait. He should be ashamed of himself for discouraging people from eating healthy food!
I fasted for 3 days.. absolutely wonderful,,,,fasted for 7 days, was the best. I felt renewed...I broke my fast with whole foods, no grains, flour or sugars, and my A1C became normal and my liver repaired. It is important to eat fresh homegrown veggies and the meat you grow or harvest. That's what our bodies need
Dr. Li's talks teach us how to live well, create balance, and have good health without going to extremes. I appreciate him touching on so many subjects that point to everyday wellness and true happiness and just being reasonable about the approach. I look forward to buying the book.
Dr. Li is a gem and I appreciate the research he has done to educate us. He might say something that you think is a waste of time but it might be info that someone else might find helpful, a vice versa. Good health takes time, attention, focus, and the right information, and I thank Dr. Li for going beyond prescribing pills.
The title said there was a specific fruit that burns fat! So why is that fruit not mentioned in this video? Is it just mentioned in the title to entice people to watcb the video or is it not mentioned so people will buy the book? This dr is excellent very knowledgeable probably one of the highest in his field, so why title the video about a certain fruit that isn't mentioned in the video?😢
@@delhargis2219 Alternate-day fasting (ADF) is an intermittent fasting approach. The basic idea is that you fast on one day and then eat what you want the next day. This way you only need to restrict what you eat half of the time. On fasting days, you're allowed to drink as many calorie-free beverages as you like AKA Water, Tea, or Coffee, but that's about it. 42/6 means fast for 42 hours, eat in a 6 hour window.
Eating everything in moderation is okay stay away from sugars, process foods, carbonated drinks and exercise stay hydrated. Getting old is part of our life journey but a good diet helps you to age gracefully. Respect 😊
I'm 86, so I have limited time left and need to keep busy on my goals, but I want to see what Dr. Li has to say. Thank you for giving me more time to work on my goals, by cutting to the chase.
HALELUJA!!! This video is a realy massive game changer! i was so confused about - what should i eat to get healthy again ( i deal with fibromyalgia ) - there was so many different thinks to do or to eat, sometimes the opposite from each other… (sorry, for my englisch, I m from German 😀) - but I cant feel it… WHY is there a big problem vor understanding in my body??? In this video the first time i have check the issue : its the DONTUNDERSTANDING from the microbiome to the brain… the microbiome will talk louder and louder and in the end there is a really great pain in the whole body… thank you so much!!! i will eat some tomatos now and drink some grean tea and will lern a little bit of the ZEN from the diet : learn to do nothing… (with only the brain and learn to hear of the language from the body) there is so much more, that i have learnt from this video but i m unable to say… thanks @ all and many blessings!!!
Dr. William, I have read your two books… can you help people who have Thyroid issue which definitely affect one’s metabolism system big time? I think food is important on a daily basis, but the stress and harmony trumps everything! So it’s kind of the thyroid issues overrides a lot of issues! How to deal with that disease? Thank you!
It would be very helpful if you include timestamps describing each section, that way for those of us who don’t have the time to listen to the entire presentation, you can choose which segments you want to listen to.
I just don’t get enough vitamins and good health by eating vegetables only, last time l tried l ended up with a vitamin B12 deficiency, seriously wasn’t a good experience. Great video thank you so much, appreciated.
A hard re-set is good to keep in mind. Get that sleep. Don't over stuff your body (good way to think about it), and stay hydrated. I really enjoyed this video, learned a lot!
Yes and actually poor sleeping habits is what can cause us to gain weight and not being able to lose it. Yes stay hydrated but there is a catch to that too, if you keep drinking excessively you are peeing out all the necessary minerals and it can actually be more harmful than healthy. So drinking those 8 tall glasses of water a day might not only keep you in the bathroom all day but draining your body of necessary minerals.
@@jackieburns8878 I read it may also be gut microbiome makeup related as well. When you have too many of these bad sugar loving bacteria, they can further fuel addiction, contribute to insulin resistance, prediabetes, type 2 doabetes, not to mention obesity as they lead to overconsumption of highly pallitable ultraprocessed high sugar calorie dense foods. Consuming more fermented foods like kefir combined with a high fibre fruit/vegetable diet I read can help squeeze out these bad sugar bacteria in favour of health promoting good bacteria
Fasting is wonderful but the eating windows should consist of nutritionally dense foods, this even helps you to be successful at fasting because you are providing your body with the nutrients it needs to function properly and keeps you satiated longer . I hear lot of people who claim to eat junk but think that fasting will help them to keep their weight down. The ignorance out there is overwhelming and sometimes these health doctors don’t go into enough detail to emphasize this.
Great show ! Not only we get the What but also the Why. Dr Li’ similes can help anyone understand Metabolism. All high school students should listen to this show so they can take care of their health and be comfortable with their body shape. THANK YOU for a good delivery of info, not just quick and easy.
I've spent many hours waching videos regarding this topic, but here Dr. William Li gave me many very practical advices that I can put to use every day. Thanks to this channel and Dr. Li.
Love all the knowledge surrounding why these types of food are important to our bodies! I'm interested in making sure my brain function stays healthy. Dad just died from Alzheimers. Thank you for taking your precious time to educate us so we can live a long, healthy life! The only thing I'm finding difficult in eating seafood is my location in Minnesota. Seafood is not as fresh, and it's super expensive. So I do supplements and chia seeds. But there is nothing better than fresh salmon from Alaska! You're so passionate about helping others.
I am very interested in reading this book. The idea that ready available and cheap foods are among the 150 is great. I've always got tomatoes in. That part about eating them before lunch to help burn fat is new to me and very interesting. I also like how the doctor enlightens us about Mediterranean countries. I also thought of them as mainly Italy and Spain.
This doctor is really knowledable and well spoken. But my daughter and me gained 20 pounds and it kept going. We both were perimenopausal. And it is a bugger to even lose 5 pounds. This is really frustrating.😢
I keep losing weight easily since I started a relatively low carb diet and when I reduced my carbs , it became really easy to do the intermittent fasting. I don't feel like eating all day anymore! I am a lot less hungry. I eat proteins, fats, salads, steamed veggies, eggs,. I don't eat starches, grains, sugars, processed foods, no vegetable oils. I only use Xtra virgin olive oil and avocado oil, sometimes a little coconut oil. It is amazing how my body responded to this diet change! I never feel deprived
Thank you for this valuable knowledge which you share with us , I'm learning a lot about my health. Most doctors here in TH-cam live in warm even hot countries where body doesn't need much food to keep the right temperature. If you live in warm tropical countries it's very easy to go on diet and eat less, but for those who live in countries with cold climate it's very difficult. I live in Scotland, it's cold here, we must save on using gas and electricity to heat our homes and bodies. You wake up listening to Dr. Lee but after the hideo finishes you go to the kitchen and eat anything you have in the kitchen to warm up your body. You don't want to do that but you can't because you want to eat or drink something which your brain is asking.
I now put spoon of good quality EVO in my coffee because sometimes i don’t have a chance to include it in my other food. It’s an acquired taste but it’s doable.
Dr. Bobby Price, Dr. Andrew Huberman (professor of neurologist at Stanford University), and Barbara O'Neil are persons that teach on healthy living (food, exercise, sleep, mind) that I listen. Barbara includes God, she's a Christian. However, in this 1 plus hour, I've learned a lot and, also, has reinforced what I've learned. It is the best interview on health that I've watched. This is the first time seeing this podcast, and dont know the host. However, I appreciate the interview style and great questions. Thanks to both. The ending is a bit abrupt though 🤭
Every time I fast I gain weight. What works for my body is to have 3 meals a day, portion control and remove the carbs 👍 I also fasted for 4 days before and didn’t get any results what so ever. I felt tired, weak, nervous, anxiety through the roof
Even if you don't feel it or see weight change, your internal organs are reaping the benefits. Those who have fast, tend to live longer (healthwise) because their body can reset.
I dont believe in diet just eat in moderation. I cooked heathy food and I watched what I eat. Stay active will help you I love to exercise and good vitamins. ❤ From California
Thank you I am a type 2 and realized in march 2022 that I was not dealing with carbs well. I removed all i could lost weight and brought my A1C into the 5s. Then it was like my body just stopped and numbers have gone back up. I was trying to maybe detox my liver but Drs only want to prescribe meds. Now I think I can reboot what I was doing and regain control once again.
So many TH-cam ad interruptions but this is valuable content. I’m not a fan of plant-based lifestyle and preferences were mentioned. I’m a keto fan and it is sustainable for me. Most of the recommended foods suggested here fit my lifestyle. I have never been obese but I have had family members who are. I believe anything with fructose tends to feed the food addiction. I believe restrictions may be imperative for these people.
I have much inflammation and was told to stay away from night shades. Is this true? I've stayed away from tomatoes, potatoes, chilies. Would like to know. Thanks.
after trying different combinations, I came to the conlcusion the best health and metabolic thing I could do to replace soda was to mix carrot and orange juice in equal parts with raspberry tea, so as to dilute the sugar, but have a punch that's nice, on par with something like koolaid.
It’s about balanced diet. Our bodies need variety of foods. All these extremes like vegetarian or carnivore diet will leave one with serious deficiencies down the line. Sometimes it takes years to ruin our bodies. Humans are omnivores just from one look at our teeth you can see we are meant to eat variety of foods. We should be looking to eat good quality foods. I don’t eat lot of the supermarket foods, meat or vegetables. We use our local farmers as the main source of our foods. Grass fed beef, pasture raised eggs, raw milk etc. vegetables from the farm tastes awesome. Supporting our farmers in the process.
Thank you Dr. William for providing us with all this information to knowledge us about our health. You’re so knowledgeable, and I enjoy listening to you. Thank you 🙏❤️
Getting old Is not reversibile..whatever we do we are not getting younger,we may try to be healthier than others but in the end our own body will betrayed us because it's the natural way of ending our journey on earth.. It's a fact.
Yup, something will get all of us in the end. I think the goal is to live as long as possible, as healthily as possible. (I.e. not having years of ill health & slow painful decline)
I'd rather die in a body that feels young (even though it isn't), happy and enjoying life, than fighting myself through my last years of life, being ill and waiting for the relief of my torture.
I do not believe we are all born with the same metabolism. We are not all born with the same micro biome. How our mothers ate, medications they took and their over all health, even vaginal birth vs C section, directly affect the micro biome we’re born with and the Dr. himself said the micro biome affects your metabolism.
Daughter had gallbladder surgery last year now she has been diagnosed pancreatitis, she has to change her eating habits once again. What foods will she be able to eat? No meat we are told.

@@dougbopst1
Sure, the biggest takeaway was when the good doc said that the body metabolism has an inbuilt mechanism geared to automatically promote good health.
Secondly, his testimony regarding disorders arising from inadequate sleep and the high stress levels medical students are put through. That was an eye-opener.
Lay people are geared to think of doctors as robust individuals, immune to all ailments common to man. We view them as super heroes, out to save humanity

The info about tomatoes is true, so I eat very few since I suffer with inflammation but I grow my own strawberries with no pesticides or sprays...
Thank you.. very much
I grew my strawberries and yes they tasted fantastic no chemicals
WELL ACCORDING TO SCIENCE THE BODY NEEDS GLUTEN FREE WHOLE GRAINS. IT DOESN'T NEED MEAT AT ALL.

It is all good, except that he included a bunch of BS as well
Dr. Li is a gem and I appreciate the research he has done to educate us.
Strawberries
Tomatoes are fruit
Grapes
But it is mentioned! Near the beginning, even: strawberries and tomatoes. For that matter, I think he says the same about kiwis in a different video.

What does 42/6 ADF Carnivore mean?
@@delhargis2219 Alternate-day fasting (ADF) is an intermittent fasting approach. The basic idea is that you fast on one day and then eat what you want the next day. This way you only need to restrict what you eat half of the time. On fasting days, you're allowed to drink as many calorie-free beverages as you like AKA Water, Tea, or Coffee, but that's about it. 42/6 means fast for 42 hours, eat in a 6 hour window.

Yeah i believed to what our doctor in Italy when he says .. "you can eat all but in moderation" and this is true:)
Tomatoes, strawberries, green tea, seafood, dark chocolate (cacao); Mediterranean and Asian ways of eating so far, halfway through the video.
Dr. William, I have read your two books… can you help people who have Thyroid issue which definitely affect one’s metabolism system big time?

Great video! My biggest struggle and challenge is beating my sugar addiction 🙁
Me too and I’m now close to prediabetic so I’m switching sugar to monk fruit.
Try acupuncture. It helped me. :)
@@prahleeI think monk fruit is still sugar.
Fasting is a great thing. It’s not extreme unless you take it to the extreme.. a couple days is good for you.. it’s what heals your body

Dr Kempner and the Rice Diet promoted tomatoes with lunch at the Rice House many years ago.
I so agree with you. I feel 8⃣ hours is plenty of time to fast (and in-between meals).
I cut out sugar and processed food and in 3 months lost 30lbs, and 2 inches from my waistline. I had to buy a load of new trousers.
This doctor is really knowledable and well spoken. But my daughter and me gained 20 pounds and it kept going. We both were perimenopausal. And it is a bugger to even lose 5 pounds. This is really frustrating.😢
For some of us the IF works well and toss that sugar bowl.

This is one of my favorite interviews of Dr William Li
And someone provides a detailed point by point summary below.
Is drinking lemon water first hour in the morning helpful?
Perhaps "fight" is not in alignment with harmony? Loved this interview, thank you.
"Dr. Li is extremely knowledgeable, and I have complete faith in what he says."
Every time I fast I gain weight. What works for my body is to have 3 meals a day, portion control and remove the carbs 👍
I also fasted for 4 days before and didn’t get any results what so ever. I felt tired, weak, nervous, anxiety through the roof
Even if you don't feel it or see weight change, your internal organs are reaping the benefits. Those who have fast, tend to live longer (healthwise) because their body can reset.
I agree I’m the same. Just as Dr Li just figure out what works best for you and do that. Fasting is great for some people but isn’t for everyone.

after trying different combinations, I came to the conlcusion the best health and metabolic thing I could do to replace soda was to mix carrot and orange juice in equal parts with raspberry tea, so as to dilute the sugar, but have a punch that's nice, on par with something like koolaid.
Very very interesting. I was about to try carnivore way of eating but after listening to this doctor, maybe not. He just makes sense to me!!!
An apple a day, salmon twice a week, eat some beans! Your heart will thank you!
