Thank you for this video. Lesson learned for me when I installed mine was…make sure you loosen the roof racks prior to placing the pins in the hole to mitigate scratching your paint.
A concern for me was the bottom of the male pin putting wear on the door gasket over time. Wiped on some silicone lubricant to help with friction.
Thank you
Does any know if you can mount a bike on it?
Hey! Quick question!
Are the original plugs any different than the new plugs ?
Yes, they are different I believe because the new ones had larger holes in them for little nubs on the rack to insert into. I just re-watched the video and they seemed to be a bit sturdier as well.
Thank you man!
WILL IT LEAVE MARK OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PAINT?
THX.
I don’t think so! But maybe over time, it could leave a mark. If you take your time and be careful, should be no scratches. The tool that it came with makes sure that you don’t over tighten it!
Hi anyone hve a number to order the key please let me know thx
Any idea how much weight these are rates for? I can’t find specs at any Toyota dealership website. It would be nice if they would list the weight capacity and how long the bars are.
75 KG / 165 LBS Evenly Distributed - 37.5 KG / 82.5 LBS per Crossbar
I’ll have to get back to you on the length.
@@iceplant1 hey thanks I appreciate the response. I was able to find the length specs but not weight specs anywhere. Not even my Toyota dealership could find it for me. I’m only wanting to carry a 60 lb kayak so these will work. Thank you.
I think that weight limit is extremely low. I'm sure Toyotas legal department had something to with that number cause I pitched a tent for me and my fury friend and we must be at least 300lbs with the tent and gear combined 😊
@@datninja408 what tent did you use?
Did you buy just for looks too?
It’s not my car. The owner bought the rack to put a kayak on top.
Does anyone have the part number for the new plugs? I just bought a set and it did not come with the plugs.
Did you ever find the plugs? Going to buy a used set of cross bars today and not sure if they’ll come with the plugs
Hey, does it matter if you use the original plugs instead of the ones included?
I believe they are slightly different. I thought the same thing, but ended up removing the original plugs and installing the new ones. Just curious, why do you ask? Did you lose one of them?
@@iceplant1 I bought some used and didn’t come with the new plugs
@@jordansanluis8373 if anything, the holes might be slightly larger. I’m sure u can modify the original plugs to make it work! Please let me know how it works out. Thanks!
What does torque to 3NM mean? 3 nautical miles?
Newton meters. 1 Nm = 0.738 ft-lbs
So 3Nm would be 2.21 ft-lbs.
The reason I used 3Nm is because that’s what the OEM tool is specifically set for.
it means when it clicks its tight enough
Looks stupid, increase air drag & fuel consumption
You know that these serve a practical purpose, right? If someone just puts it on for looks, I can understand that line of thinking, but they're not meant to look pretty or improve aerodynamics, they're to help you carry stuff that won't fit inside the car.
