2019+ Corolla Hatchback: How-To Install OEM Toyota Spoiler

- Install was pretty simple and straight forward.
IMPORTANT NOTE BEFORE YOY INSTALL! READ BELOW!
Since I did use the template, I come to find out, that the drivers sits more flush, and the passenger side has about 1/4 gap. This was due to me incorrectly applying the template. To avoid my mistake do the following below
Updated Fix! (What I did NOT do in the video)
- When using the template, each taping point is marked in numerical order.
- Apply masking tap in numerical order (ex, 1st tape, 2nd tape, 3rd tape etc)
-Align the template so that it doesn’t overlap the hatch line onto the actual body of the car. (Like In my video)
Once again I do apologize for this error and hopefully your spoiler will come out properly installed and centered!

Since I did use the template, I come to find out, that the drivers sits more flush, and the passenger side has about 1/4 gap. So my suggestion would be to AFTER taping the template on. Place spoiler on top of the template and align the sides so they are flush, so you can then dial in exactly where you need the drill. The template may be slightly off.
I wish I read this part, I guess its off by a bit...I honestly don't wanna rip it off and center it, feels like imma do more damage doing that
@@NobleONE17 yea I removed the spoiler and had to remove the double sided tape, reapply new tape, and drill new holes. This time I just centered the center bolt with center of the car, now it sits little further back but has about .25 gap on each side but at least they now match. Spent about 2 hours total for everything. Key thing is to have the right tools and mindset for doing this
The Corolla Hatchback is an amazing car dont sleep on it

I wasnt able to find a 9mm drill bit only standards, I looked up the converted measurements and it says 3/8. Id love the help on what exact size i should use. I just got my SEIBON Carbon Fiber spoiler from Japan and im extremely looking forward to installing it as soon as possible

Thank you! Yea if you have 2019+ Corolla hatchback it should fit, however I do always recommend confirming with dealer or seller before buying to be 100% sure and safe. To my knowledge Corolla hatches have been the same for the E210 platform to current

@@mr.typical3169 Was $80 of labour but that was my rate, usually is whatever 1 hr of labour is for your dealer. I work on all my cars myself (see my channel lol) but I just didn't trust myself with lining it up right.
Highly recommend it, car doesn't look complete without it!

Great video. I also used the template that I got from the Toyota dealership near me. Did one side come our more flush than the other? The left side of my spoiler looks perfect but the right side is not completely flush. It's probably less than a quarter inch so you can barely notice it. Just wondering.
Yea mine is exactly the same way lol. It bothers me a little but I got over it

Does the spoiler come with the bolts or do they have to be purchased separately?
Yup! So if you purchase factory painted spoiler from Toyota it comes with 3 center nuts/bolts mounted to the spoiler. So all you have to do is still the holes then tighten with supplied nuts
Any water leaks from the holes you drilled?
Not that I’ve noticed. Been good so far

Yup! They should be able to! It depends from dealer to dealer. I recommend just calling and see if they offer the service

Gonna fit one of these on… was just going to use VHB tape. U think it will work? Not keen on drilling holes.
I have seen several people use only double sided tape (DST) as well. Do you have oem spoiler with bolts or a replica spoiler without bolts? The 2 main important things when only using dst, is 1) clean prep mounting areas where tape will stick 2) use a quality, durable dst that is intended for body moldings/exterior use
I bought a cheap $100 XSE style wing on eBay and was gonna use 3M VHB tape to mount to my GR Corolla
@@bbb4019 oh nice! Yea if thats the tape they supplied with, use that. If not, just use any 3m products designed for weather/body molding
Is the section on the hatch that you have to drill through steel or plastic? My car is arriving March and I have opted in the spoiler as I love it. However I want to make sure the dealership prime and paint the holes after drilling so there is no rust if it is indeed steel in that section. =)

@@FujiboHeavy Thank you! I’m excited to get it. Oh, no sorry not the spoiler material. I meant the car itself. The top section of hatch/boot of the car where you drill into and make holes, is that steel or plastic? The actual part of the car you drill into. I hope that makes sense.
@@a.a.e so the part where I drilled the 5 holes were plastic. All standard hatchbacks have like an oem mini hatch spoiler which is a plastic material (similar to like bumper material) hope that makes sense! I never drilled into any steel/metal material during the spoiler install

Aaron Kim nice man! So yea you can order locally from your dealer! I’m not sure how much they would charge to install. But it may be better to have dealer do it, so if they mess up they fix it lol. And/or if they order the wrong part

I had to order it from the dealer as a separate part. Unfortunately, the oe spoiler does not come with it, which doesnt make sense 😅
Will this spoiler also fit on the corolla touring sports?
I’m not sure. Is the Touring also a hatchback? Would happen to have link to photo of the car?

Anyone knows if adding the toyota spoiler affects performance? Or is it mainly cosmetic?
Heard it provides more downforce on the car, so it can help increase speed while being stable at the same time
Its a econo hatchback that makes 140 whp, no it wont add any performance increase lol

@@FujiboHeavy the small one, I assume the big ones goes to the top corners. I'm thinking the smaller ones have to line up with the black trim under the stock small spoiler

Hey man, I’ve tried for months to order one but I keep getting told that Toyota won’t sell it and they are on hold with no eta. What should I do? Order a eBay one?
Really? I ordered mine from parts.lakelandtoyota.com/ , but not sure what the inventory is currently. It really depends if you want oem or just get replica and have it painted and applied with just double sided tape

@@yeti986 I dont have much experience with ebay replica spoilers unfortunately so I cant really recommend it personally. However if you do decide on ebay spoiler check seller's feedback rep and when installing, make sure to use good 3m double sided tape, and clean spoiler/mounting surfaces before sticking onto the car

You may have to contact local Toyota dealer. They should be able to run your vin and verify the paint code then , they should be able to order you the correct color matched spoiler:)

@@Shaylesety probably start with a design first, then come up with a mold, then go from there. You need to contact a company or someone that specializes in creating custom fiberglass/polyurethane parts. Depends how much money you want to invest in it as well
Mate I got my rear spoiler from online it's not factory made but I didn't get any screw.where can I get screw
You may have to go to local hardware store and see what bolt will fit best. Does it have drilled holes to screw in the bolts?

@@weejaay2632 got it. Yea just make sure to use high quality 3m tape and make sure the paint surface is completely clean with no grease/wax/oils. And it should hold well, but if you want to add in bolts it’s completely up to you

Dj Mesa just got off the phone with Toyota of Orlando, and their service dept does not do the spoiler install. However they did give me the direct number to the body shop dept which is: 4072986006. They open 7am mon-fri. So if you wanna give them a call and see how much they’d charge, or I can. Whoever gets to it first lol
