    I'm looking for help from viewers if you're interested. I'm making a video on customer feedback on the 2019 Corolla Hatchback. If you've seen one in person and/or test driven it, I'd love your feedback. If you have an iPhone, you can record 10 seconds to 1 minute video of yourself talking about it and text it to me....If anyone is interested, I'll pass along the number....YOU CAN BE IN ONE OF MY VIDEOS..Jeff

      Hondas were way ahead of their time when they released I remember seeing them for the first time I couldn't believe they were hondas and there wasn't any other car as good looking as those hatchbacks at the time. Now of course competition is coming in but honda already did it's job. And also I think the new accord looks really good it stands up there with the Camry

    For me I'd opt for the SE trim with manual, save money and not really losing much from the gimmicky of xse as compared to Honda hatchback LX vs Sport trims where there is major difference. Toyota has a winner here!
    Japan has this car in 4WD and in hybrid.

    • @Toyotajeff
      @Toyotajeff  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's pretty wild they have this in 4WD and in hybrid....the hybrid not so surprising, as smaller cars and gas mileage are crucial overseas.....the 4WD is surprising to me though....I wonder how it sells...thanks for the feedback and please keep watching and commenting...Jeff

      Toyotajeff in Raleigh the car goes on sale next month and only expecting to sell like 3K. The market is outside Japan. They have two different engines, 1.8(gasoline and electric motor for 120HP) and 1.2 turbo for 114HP with 4WD and cvt. They also have option for really nice seats!USDM has the bigger engine with more power.

    Great video. Really lays out the differences in a clear and understandable way. If I were a Salesman, I'd show this video to potential customers so they could decide which model they'd want.
    Clearly, the XSE is nicer. But both cars have the same engine and transmission. There's nothing on the XSE that would cause me to pay a huge premium for that model. Now, if the XSE had a sunroof, that would be very tempting.

    I would want a 2022 Corolla hatchback with 6 spd. manual transmission. NO CVT. and NO SUNROOF.
    Need blind spot warning system.
    SE VS. XSE COROLLA? Not sure yet because I will get a 2022 or 2023 model.🤔
    Prefer 16 INCH WHEELS as it offers more cushion / protection on bumpy roads full of potholes that we have alot here.
    I don't want low profile tires that do not cushion the ride.
    I want a comfortable soft ride with tires that last long and don't cost alot that wear out fast like low profile tires do.
    Low profiles tires cost more at REPLCEMENT time.
    Those bigger fancy looking wheels are cosmetic in nature to me and get stolen that attract unwanted attention from thieves.😡
    Big wheels cost alot 🤑 to repair/replace from theft.
    Bigwheels are more prone to CURB RASH.🤢🤮.
    I would prefer Corolla in white or windchill white exterior color.
    RED INTERIOR WITH RED LEATHER SEATS IF AVAILABLE OR POSSIBLE.🤔
    I NEED TOP OF THE LINE TOYOTA STEREO SYSTEM.

    I'm gonna be honest this should be the North American Hatchback of the year just look at it. It has amazing features on a hatchback this will totally crush the competition in terms of features even tho some competitors are similar, but this offers very important safety features standard it has good amount of power great looks it's the perfect car for college teenagers trying to look for they're first car:). Plus something very rare in this segment is that the corolla hatch has full LEDS even blinkers as standard I can tell this will be selling like hot cakes.

    Got one of these a couple of weeks ago just like yours...blizzard pearl XSE with manual (no spoiler though). Love the car. Handles very well; 6 speed is fantastic, love the rev matching and all the safety features! I've only driven it 200 miles so far but overall I love the car; the road noise on the highway is more than I would like but otherwise I think it's great. It is a *small* car; much smaller than my previous Accord but you don't feel it in the front seats. Back seats are a little cramped but doable. Trunk is small but with the seats down is quite roomy for cargo. I opted for the XSE for a number of reasons, not the least of which was that the Entune 3.0 plus also includes an HD radio, which I really wanted.

  • @terminalbrd
    @terminalbrd 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I'm considering one of these in the XSE trim with the 6 spd. manual as my next car. My only hangup is that it has about 40 hp less than the cars I'm cross-shopping (Civic Si, Hyundai Elantra Sport, GTI, etc). Toyota needs to come up with a TRD trim with somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 horsepower and I think they'd have a winner.

    @dominicfong6341 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I prefer the less adorned SE over XSE. Fog lights are really very rarely useful, don't like the chrome piece and the non-directional alloy rims. If I could I would delete the humongous tablet, as it is too much of a distraction and possibly block forward vision. Would be nice if I could have a traditional lever mechanical emergency brake on the manual transmission. With the exceptional fuel economy on the CVT it is a no brainer for me. If Porsche could do a 7 speed manual years ago, maybe Toyota can offer one too.

    Also the CVT has a launch gear from 0-25mph then it switches to CVT. It does away with the rubberband feeling with traditional CVTs and makes it behave more like a normal automatic. Also I believe it's only the CVT has true radar cruise control where it will automatically make the car come to a complete stop. Whereas with the manual it will only slow down the car to a certain speed.

    Another great video . well done sir . Great comparison , Just one extra note to be added . you could get " blind spot monitoring " on SE version if you would buy optional package which is almost 1500 $ extra to the base SE and it has to be on CVT transmission of SE . ( optional upgrade( blind spot monitoring ) is NOT available on "manual transmission " version of SE ) , sorry ..... Also you could ONLY get 800 watt sound system( JBL ) and wireless charge feature on XSE 'optional package" which is another 1600 $ ..... So to summarize : The full and complete car can be made ONLY on XSE which is costing you almost 27,500 dollars .

      sir , I am very sure this numbers are based on 24 month lease . I was mainly interested for 36 month lease and base on my research the 36 month lease the " average residual ' value came out around 54-56 % for 36 month lease , very similar to Avalon 2019 . thank you so much for this .

Love all the XSE options except for : Dont like the 18" tires and wish the wheels were SE size but XSE design. Don't like the chrome around the front grill. Hate chrome, the 60's where over long time ago. Not yet sure about the fog lights. I like them but dont think they look right where they are. Have to say the CVT because I like the shift paddles on the steering wheel and the blind spot option, even though I dont trust the CVT. That's my ideal best Corolla ever! Bought one 2 weeks ago. I got SE. Few things I would have like XSE would be the upgrade gauge display, seating is big, im 6' with some lower back issues, i dont feel confined. Auto trans' still fun to drive. You cannot change all setting while driving, dont understand why i cant change eco set while driveing to normal..( has eco, normal sport) but you can do sport with either one...same with settings on the radio, if i can one thing i should be able to change everything. I really love this car, galactica aqua blue, its my first car.every. and first post 2k. Few things not mentioned in the review, center storage is limited, unlike the 2018 civic hatch which we bought.my now ex 6 months prior. Civic is a little more practical in that sense and with the usb and charger placement....Toyota if your going to put the plug in the middle console, make a little more room for it and somewhere to secure my phone close by. The little compartment under the radio is not large enough to secure my phone, but it inconvenient while driving. Although the HP difference is very little, civic seems to jump quick from 30mph +. Although the launch gear in the toyota is def a plus when turn left with traffic... last thing. I like to open the door when i reach my destination, grab my stuff and shut the car off, in doing so, the door chime is constant...ill be investigating this issue. I e had the civic and corolla, want to know anything else hit me up....Great review. Keep it up

    My wife recently purchased the SE model with the 6 speed manual and she loves it. The colour she picked was Smoked Paprika. She didn't want XSE since it came with 18" wheels with lower profile tires since they give a harsher ride. Just for fun we pushed the button for rev matching and let the car drive itself from a stop without touching the accelerator, it did it without stalling, cool!

  • @aca2983
    @aca2983 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    My choice would probably be the XSE because I like the display, and the front grill bling and foglights. However, I live in area with rough streets and I think the 16" wheel/tire package from the SE would probably ride better than the big 18"s, although the 18's look good. Thoe wheel tire/differences do have a noticeable fuel economy difference though. I HATE the optional rear wings shown. Ugh, I'm over 40 and if I wanted a hideous looking Civic I'd buy one! I'm a little disappointed that neither trim has a moonroof available, as that is a feature I'm used to and like. Never owned a Toyota, but this is the first one that has ever seemed appealing to me.

    Hi Jeff, Thanks for the detailed comparison. I am confused as to how it is possible for the manual SE and XSE to get the same MPG when the XSE has much larger tires. With the automatics the SE achieves much better MPG than the XSE. Buyers should also consider that over the life of the vehicle replacement tires will be substantially cheaper for the 16" wheels. From everything I have seen so far there is no indication that the XSE has bigger brakes or different suspension components than the SE. In the end, you choose between lower price, better mpg and smoother ride with the SE or features and handling with the XSE.

    • @Toyotajeff
      @Toyotajeff  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great observations and thanks! I'll look into the reasons that would account for the same MPG for both manuals.....I'll give some more insight when I uncover more details....

      Agreed, unless you have a performance car, the 16" wheels and tires are just fine. Like you said, better gas mileage, much cheaper tires when you have to replace them, and much less likely to get stolen.
