Hey Dan. I bought a leather rope 30 years ago. Used it for about 2 weeks then gave up. Because of your channel and a couple others I started again with that same rope last April 5 days a week. That leather rope broke early August. I immediately bought the crossrope get lean set and I’ve never been happier with a jump rope. I’m 55 and slim and trying to lose a little belly fat. So far so good. Also last Friday I got up to 25 minutes and 19 seconds straight with no stops. Thanks for your motivating videos. Keep up the good work.
That's amazing dude!! It makes me so happy to hear people find their flow and crush their fitness goals. 55 and showing up men half your age, I bet! Keep doing the thing!
That explains a lot. A beginner here with the speed cable style rope and struggling. It is a really light rope and I get tangled a lot. Thank you, I appreciate you.
I’m a beginner, really uncoordinated and my body hates impact, but I’ve got a beaded one to try and get going. It’s much easier than the ones I’ve tried in the past that made me just give up
I want to log here that I lost 25 kgs and improved my stamina from 100 reps to 1200 reps in a single interval. I am so so so thankful and Grateful to having discovered this channel. I was 117 kg now 92 kg and on my way to 75 kg. Thank you team. Love you guys. I will update my progress soon.
Seriously?! That's incredible!! Do the damn thing! 💪🏻 Please update me on your progress and consider submitting a transformation story: www.jumpropedudes.com/transformation
Am just starting out (cant break 100 reps yet) at 70 years old. What a workout though. And so happy my arthritic ankle has stopped hurting. Using a cable coated vinyl heavier jump rope that is adjustable length. Am 6 foot 3 and using 9.5 rope.
I've mostly been using the 1/4lb. and 1/2lb Crossrope for the last couple of years but I recently got a 3oz. Crossrope and absolutely love it. I wouldn't have thought that one ounce less would make that much of a difference, but I get about the same amount of feedback as I do from the 1/4lb. rope and it's much easier to turn over.
I use a weighted handle leather rope. I always find the leather has a much better feedback than the pvc. The handles are also usually better than the skinny handles on other ropes.
Agreed. If you have the money, go for the good stuff. I dunno about you, but I exercise A LOT and if you're going to spend so much time doing something you might as well enjoy the experience with good equipment.
Good video. I started about 5 years ago with a cheap plastic rope from one of the big box sports store. Within a couple of weeks, realized that I was going to need a higher quality rope. And this began my @Crossrope journey (which some may call an obsession)!
haha it's been called an obsession for people who know me for a long time! 🤣 but you're absolutely right! There's a reason they're the best jump ropes available and there's a reason I rep for them so hard. I cannot stand to jump with any other type of rope.
CrossRope is made in China and I won't give a penny to China as they're our countries #1 enemy. Plus for the price of CrossRope they should be made here in the USA. That's a lot of money for a jump rope made in China
Beaded ropes for me all the way. 1. Repairable. My last rope I bought for less than $8 bucks. It was 16 feet long. I cut it down to just under 9 feet. Now I have extra beads that will last me for years. 2. They are very inexpensive. 3. They are slower than other types of ropes. Not slow. Just slower. Sufficiently fast enough for a great workout at any fitness level (I believe). Definitely sufficient at my fitness level. At the 6 month or less experience level a fast rope does you little good IMHO if you're constantly tripping on it. Switching to a slower beaded rope drastically improved the length of time I could jump without tripping and overall jump duration. 4. A ballbearings in the handles option exists for beaded ropes. I bought mine for $20 but I see them online now for $8. Those are a little faster but still slower than cable or PVC.
I’ve got one that’s vinyl covered with a steel cable inside. Only had it a week but once it gets less challenging (it’s already getting there!) I’ll be investing in a weighted rope. There’s a company here in the UK that manufactures them in England and they’re pretty much a system like Crossrope so I might consider buying British made and supporting home-grown companies 😊
Great vid Dan. Never really understood what you and Brian meant by feedback but since I've been using the Crossropes for a couple of years now, it's one of those things where you say, how did I ever live without them?
Exactly! Once you feel the difference you won't get it, until you jump with a superior quality rope, you just can't wrap your head around how it could be that great. But it makes such a big difference in the quality of your workouts!
I just bought a rope less jump rope from Target for about $10 and change. I would love to obtain the cross rope one but it's just out of the budget right now maybe for Christmas however. Or look at the budget one from cross rope that's twenty dollars..for now I'm staying rope less and I'm going to do my best to use this often for regular exercise.
I practice "skipping" for the last 4 years. Used three types of ropes, which are cloth, beaded and speed. Cloth is really about "nothing", since it's like a feather and too hard to spin around. Secondly, I used beaded for at least 15 minutes and sold it out, the same problem. Finally, practiced the speed rope all that period of time. There's no specific "why", but here's the catch: for a moment I haven't thought about any other types, and this way I still get "a lot of watermarks" for each new trick.. Recently I figured around, that it's time to change the material as well, at least I gonna try pvc. Thanks man for the video.
I’ve tried soooo many different ropes and I honestly love the differences between all of them. But honestly the “box rope” just seems to give the best overall experience for me
I like beaded ropes for outside jumping on hard surfaces and for travel when I can’t control where I jump at. I like pvc and pvc with wire in the middle for more controlled situations.
1lb ropes are the best, personally i enjoy them a loooot more than lighter ones, and you get used to it, to the point you can almost handle it like a 1/4lb, amazing workout, i love it
I always loved rubber jump ropes, not too heavy, not too light, didnt hurt like beaded ones can when you miss. Downside was I would wear through them quickly, the rubber would break, which is likely why I cant find them for sale anymore. But I would still buy them if I cold find them. They were only like $5 at Wal-Mart.

Engineered for ultimate performance as part of our Pro Series, this rope boasts ergonomic rubber handles that ensure a comfortable grip even during the most intense workouts. Customization is at your fingertips with removable weights in each handle, letting you fine-tune your training intensity for maximum results. I have a basic PVC rope because I’m a beginner… but this rope also kind of has an irregular shape so it’s not a clean circle.. what PVC rope holds the shape so it’s a smooth half circle to jump-through??
Im up to 7 ropes now and the best feeling and easiest rope i have is the 5 dollar wal mart rope i bought on a whim. Its complete garbage but the weight is perfect. Its around 6 mm vinyl. I need a better rope thats the same weight. My number 2 is my 1 pounder.
I love my leather jump rope. It has ball bearings, weighted rubber handles The trick is to run the rope under hot water before use. That makes the leather perfectly straight and heavy for great feed back... and sounds amazing. There you go.
What do you mean by "feedback?" I bought a Cross Rope jump rope and I love it but I'm a long way from the Zen jump rope experience and I still trip a lot - even after over nine months (your videos about that topic did help a lot). This mystical "feedback" that you speak of must be the secret.
Feedback is being able to feel the rope swings around you to time your jumps. Imagine jumping rope with a shoelace.... terrible, right? there's no feedback, the string doesn't weigh enough for you to feel the rotation and know when to jump. But don't worry because you got the Crossropes you're good on feedback 😎 Hope this helps!
@@JumpRopeDudes Yes I don't have very good coordination but I'm getting there slowly but surely. Your videos are super helpful and the Cross Rope is great. Thank you so much!
I wasted a lot of money trying to get a cheaper version of CrossRope and a mat... buy cheap, buy twice! Since then I have bought a range of 4 ropes from CR and a mat - and the AMP handles with subscription and I could not live without them. That being said, I also bought Rush Athletics "moneyrope" which is PVC - I didn't like the handles. And I bought Dope Ropes Cardio 2.0 speed rope and their beaded rope. Love both of those too, and I typically use them whenever I'm either trying to learn a new skill or I am going somewhere that I just need to pack very lightly and can throw the PVC rope in there (like the basement car park at work during lunch sometimes). The handles on Dope Ropes are great cos there's somewhere to put my thumb and it feels "firmer" in my hand. But, yeah - CrossRope rocks!
Useful video. I only have an Everlast leather rope, but the handles are weighted with a nice grip. Maybe because I have had them for a long while, but I think the leather on my rope had loosened so it's not as stiff as the one you showed. But I agree on the speed ropes cause they really do nothing for me. For steel in vinyl, what are the best brands for those? (I'll look at Crossrope, I swear, but I wanna see my options first haha)
I actually wanted to ask you about my rope. I bought a cheap rope from ali express, its like pvc. I bought a 0.5 pounds and 0.25 pounds. The 0.5 one is great, I really feel the feedback and the weight helps me a lot. Been able to learn many tricks. But when I use the 0.25 one its feels less heavy, but the speed is the same and it lacks feedback. I wondered if crossrope 0.25 is thiner because of the steel cable weight that helps it cut through the air, but crossrope are too expensive for me… what do you think?
it's hard to say because I haven't used the ropes you're talking about. I wonder if the .25 lb rope you're using is legitimately .25 lbs? Because with crossrope jump ropes, the steel cables are evenly weighted and give great feedback, even the .25 weight. Regardless, feedback is 🔑 so use the rope that helps you nail your rhythm and timing.
Love crossropes. I actually have a beaded rope on the way just to play with and check out. I've also been eyeing rush athletics for no reason other than to try them. Great video as always!
Hi, I am Arun from Bangkok.I love your TH-cam channel. I am 56 and want to get back to jump rope but my left should neck and right knee hurt. Kindly give me some advise how to overcome this. Many thanks 🙏🙏

1/4 lb Crossrope. Hands down best rope out there. Make the investment in yourself if your serious about jump rope. In the long run it will be pennies but the rewards will be huge! Keep up the great work!
You're so right. Have you heard when you buy cheap you buy twice? It's hard to explain to people that these ropes will save you money... get the good stuff and you don't have to replace it every 2 months! Thanks for the support!
I got a speed rope as my first one. I really dont know much about jumping rope, other than the fact that I love it haha I tore my achilles and im just starting jumping, so i hope I dont tear it again haha
Hi, I recommend the 1/4 lb rope because it'll give you just enough feedback to learn to skip well without being so heavy that you struggle to swing it around. We have a starter set that comes with the 1/4 lb, check it out → www.crossrope.com/jrd-starter use our code DOTHETHING for a discount!
I thank you very much. Will order in Januaray for the start of winter Group figure skating class, I will forward all the good info to the Coaching staff at Oakland Ice Center@@JumpRopeDudes
What I hate about the cable jump rope is when you trip and get whipped. the pain is much worse than any other jump rope. my favorite is a steel wire rope with silicon coating. It's not 3/4 lbs though.
Hey man I'm new to your channel. Can you recommend 3 brands of jump ropes that aren't made in China? I refuse to buy anything made there. It can be made in USA, Japan, USA or anywhere else..Just not China. Thanks
I completely agree about CrossFit one. So light, useless. Having several years experience of skipping, last years jumping easily 30 min of intensive speed, I prefer leather one. Yes, old school leather, especially I enjoyed rdx heavy version. It was best experience. Now I use simple light leather rope I buy in casual store. Also fine, durable for outside (as usual it lasts 3 months, good period, if to have intensive regular skipping). I fully agree with Dan regarding heaviness. In my case, if I don’t feel massiveness from rope, then it does not give real appropriate effect and it gets boring to jump
I started with a leather rope, but after 18 weeks of jumping i got the crossrope get strong set and never picked up my leather rope again (i'm jumping for 41 weeks 90 min a week).
Cross rope was the best gym investment I’ve probably ever made definitely worth the money I I have the quarter pound and half pound just bought the 3oz speed rope
Wow, what a coincidence! Those are also the three types of jump ropes I hate the most 😂 Well that’s not fair to leather since I haven’t tried a leather rope yet (and see no need for it after purchasing my Crossropes). But I’ll have to agree I’m not a fan of either cloth or speed cable ropes after trying them both out
Yeah, no shocker here why those ropes are a waste of time. Be glad you didn't make the mistake of a leather rope, and now you've got the best of the best!
My homie Brandon is off doing his own thing and exploring new ventures, and yes, there's a video about it: th-cam.com/video/mNTRjIN9B0s/w-d-xo.html He sends his love to the JRD Nation, and we keep in touch!
Leather is also bad for the environment, if you look into leather production. It may be biodegradable but the chemicals and process to turn hides into leather is extremely harmful, both for the environment and the people who work it. That’s mostly hidden from us in third world countries though. So it it’s lose lose unfortunately
Great video Dan I started out with a leather jump rope from Ampro which has been established since 1950’s. I still have it and use it every now and then, but once I bought 1lb and 2lb crossropes (and then practically all the crossropes that they make) it opens up a totally different feel to jumping rope.
Greetings to you Dan, Would really appreciate if you could make a video/vlog on the best shoes, ideal shoes for jumpropes..which are available worldwide. Many Thanks, Big fan ❤
3 types of rope Dan Hates: 1. Leather 2. speed cable 3. cloth here is why: Feed back is horrible. ... the leather ropes are too light, the leather is very stiff speed cable rope has no feedback as well and it's seen in cross fit or cross fit games, and also you get no upper body workout from the rope, calorie burn is so low. The cloth rope is made for kids and jumping over a cloth rope makes it worse to spin. Jump ropes you should use 1. PVC, 2. steel cable heavy ones, 3. 3 beaded ropes
With all due respect I don't necessarily agree with you Brandon I own a jump 🦘 rope 🪢 from Dick's Sporting Goods & waiting to be able to buy a jump 🦘 rope 🪢 from JDR dude 's channel.
I would love to start jumping rope again. Then my left knee discovered my intentions and screamed "Fuck that Shit! It ain't happenin'!" I'm going to have to check out that ropeless bolo thing you had at the end of the video, that looks interesting.
Oh man, that sucks! Knees betray you sometimes. Try the ropeless! I've used it when I was resting a sprained ankle and it helps! Keep doing the thing 💪🏻
Yeah feedback and you need some weight to the ropes. Leather ropes SUCK they are not good I agree when I started yes I used them but there are far superior ropes out there. Leather ropes are for people stuck in the past.
Before I knew about crossropes i went to Dick's sporting goods and picked a $40 jump rope. While I was standing in line for the cashier the handle fell off the rope (broke off) just from me standing there ! It's actually more expensive if you buy cheap ropes because they won't last. I Iove the crossrope get lean set. 1 year and going strong
haha that's a funny story! But you're right and that's what I've been saying! It's more expensive to keep buying cheap ropes and replacing them over and over plus (most importantly) they aren't' fun to workout with like crossrope!! Do The Thing!

It's not 3/4 lbs though.
what about this one from Rival boxing? RIVAL COMFORT GRIP SPEED ROPE (ADJUSTABLE)
Regular price
$19.99
probably not it's the speed one's you dont like so much..
Hey man I'm new to your channel. Can you recommend 3 brands of jump ropes that aren't made in China? I refuse to buy anything made there. It can be made in USA, Japan, USA or anywhere else..Just not China. Thanks
PVC all the way. Cheap, reliable, no fuss and does the. And a ropeless backup for traveling when staying in hotels.
Solid choices
My point exactly. I'm glad you didn't waste any more time and money before getting the crossrope!
Cross rope was the best gym investment I’ve probably ever made definitely worth the money I I have the quarter pound and half pound just bought the 3oz speed rope
Nice! It's worth the money not having to replace ropes and having something that is enjoyable to use
Wow, what a coincidence! Those are also the three types of jump ropes I hate the most 😂
Well that’s not fair to leather since I haven’t tried a leather rope yet (and see no need for it after purchasing my Crossropes). But I’ll have to agree I’m not a fan of either cloth or speed cable ropes after trying them both out
Yeah, no shocker here why those ropes are a waste of time. Be glad you didn't make the mistake of a leather rope, and now you've got the best of the best!
Hi can i ask you a question where is the other person that used to jump rope with you ?
They uploaded a Video about it :)
My homie Brandon is off doing his own thing and exploring new ventures, and yes, there's a video about it: th-cam.com/video/mNTRjIN9B0s/w-d-xo.html He sends his love to the JRD Nation, and we keep in touch!
I'm purchasing the Hererope 1/4lb and 1lb next month
Nice!
Been jumping for 3 weeks.. thanks for the inspo!! Ima jump rope dude now 🤙
Hell yeah! DO the thing! 💪🏻
YES YOUR EXACTLY RIGHT DAN!! ALWAYS LOVE YOU OPINION AND HONESTY!!❤❤❤❤💯💯💯💯😊😊😊😊🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
Thanks! 🙏🏽❤️
@@JumpRopeDudes your so very welcome!😊😊😊❤❤❤
You forget one reason someone might want leather. Might be someone that wants to get as much plastic out of their life as possible.
Leather is also bad for the environment, if you look into leather production. It may be biodegradable but the chemicals and process to turn hides into leather is extremely harmful, both for the environment and the people who work it. That’s mostly hidden from us in third world countries though. So it it’s lose lose unfortunately
the green crossrope is a game changer
Dang… I’m just getting started on my jumprope journey and I bought a speed rope and a beaded rope 😅
🫣
Mine one is PVC but light weight and the handles are wood.
Great video Dan I started out with a leather jump rope from Ampro which has been established since 1950’s.
I still have it and use it every now and then, but once I bought 1lb and 2lb crossropes (and then practically all the crossropes that they make) it opens up a totally different feel to jumping rope.
💯 great insight. The leather ones look cool though...
Greetings to you Dan,
Would really appreciate if you could make a video/vlog on the best shoes, ideal shoes for jumpropes..which are available worldwide.
Many Thanks,
Big fan ❤
I have a video on that here: th-cam.com/video/sx4DV4DYmb4/w-d-xo.html but new content coming soon!
@@JumpRopeDudes thanks for acknowledging, waiting for new content....new shoe information. ❤❤
Honestly, I use the Chris Hemsworth jump rope and I love it! I also use a $7.00 rope from Walmart and it’s fine for me!
Do the thing!
That's it 🎉
I once bought a “classic” jump rope with light white rope that was like jumping rope with a shoelace. What a mistake.
great description! It's so annoying! 😬
I am using cotton jump rope but it's gave me best results
I'm from the Philippines sir can you give me a jumping rope. I'm using a diy rope.im already 50yrs old no work..
3 types of rope Dan Hates:
1. Leather
2. speed cable
3. cloth
here is why: Feed back is horrible. ... the leather ropes are too light, the leather is very stiff
speed cable rope has no feedback as well and it's seen in cross fit or cross fit games, and also you get no upper body workout from the rope, calorie burn is so low. The cloth rope is made for kids and jumping over a cloth rope makes it worse to spin.
Jump ropes you should use
1. PVC, 2. steel cable heavy ones, 3. 3 beaded ropes
💯 #dothething 💪🏻
And I just bought a speed cable yesterday... 🤦🏻♂️
Depending on where you bought it, you might be able to return it. And who knows, who might love it? 🤷🏻♂️
Can you make a video abt jump rope + abs in 50-1hour please?❤
50-1hour?
@@JumpRopeDudes ye:))
Twins muay thai pvc rope is my rope of choice
How heavy is it?
Just shy of 1lb I believe
Oh nice!
Walmart speed ropes, my favorite.
Cool, do the thing! 💪🏻
Hell yeah those things are a reaaaallll good bang for your buck compared to a lot of other stuff out there
With all due respect I don't necessarily agree with you Brandon I own a jump 🦘 rope 🪢 from Dick's Sporting Goods & waiting to be able to buy a jump 🦘 rope 🪢 from JDR dude 's channel.
Use what you got Brian, and do the thing.
You forgot to include the crossrope
Yeah feedback and you need some weight to the ropes. Leather ropes SUCK they are not good I agree when I started yes I used them but there are far superior ropes out there.
Leather ropes are for people stuck in the past.
💯
I can't jump rope for shit regardless, lol
Crossropes and a mat. Never used anything else😊
Brilliant!
Recently bought a speed rope. Agreed. It was trash......
Ugh, lesson learned...
Boy, that thumbnail could be a lot better
lol hater
@@JumpRopeDudes hehehe i jump to your videos every day 🥰
Before I knew about crossropes i went to Dick's sporting goods and picked a $40 jump rope.
Awesome bro your big fan 😊
Thanks for your support! 🙏🏽
*hi dear sir iam professional thumbnail designer on fiver i want to design your thumbnail eye catching at cheap price*

Can I get a free crossrope?
Unfortunately no, but they're running awesome sales right now! - check it out www.crossrope.com/jrd-yt
Did you ever try getting your leather wet?
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎🏴
😎
175€ for your lean set... of course you hate let's say 3x100 types of jump ropes 😄
I am simply recommending the best 😎. I hope you find a rope that works and do the thing!
Yeah. Speed cables are trash. Stay away form them.
💯
Time has come to unsubscribe you, cause the reason why I subscribed 2 years ago is now not showing in you channel.
Bye 👋
Take care!
My favorite of all time is an "extra long" kids jump rope with the little plastic tubes. Weightier than you would expect and I like the feedback.
AKA beaded I guess. Great ropes.
Yeah surprisingly the old school beaded does a great job of providing some weight and feedback
Ahomie . leather jump rope es the best rope ever I used 😂😂
Well, do the thing
@@JumpRopeDudes Ahomie jump rope with stainless steel handles and 10 mm leather core for $65.99 is good value price !
Great vid Dan. Never really understood what you and Brian meant by feedback but since I've been using the Crossropes for a couple of years now, it's one of those things where you say, how did I ever live without them?
Exactly! Once you feel the difference of the crossrope ropes you never want to go back.
