I have had bad headaches for 10 years, mainly when I sleep, on my right side.
All the pillows were too hard for me, I end up using extremely soft animal cushions,
    mainly on my neck,
but the best sleeping position for me is sitting up without leaning my head to anything.

Thank you for the information! I love learning about the human body, & if I had a whole new life to start new from, I’d probably end up in some field that focuses on all the wonders of the human brain & body, & how they react to all kinds of situations & the many actions & types of beneficial, naturally occurring chemicals we can take, to prevent pain & illness, & to help improve , &/or sustain our health. But, maybe next life time- if I get one.
One thing I found odd & had to question, at the beginning of this video, is when you said we’re “lucky” that our necks don’t react the same way as our arms would, were our arms holding out a bowling ball in front of us.
I don’t believe it really is “lucky” that our neck muscles don’t respond to holding our heads in a stressful & strained position, the same way our arm muscles in would respond to your bowling ball example.
I can think of 2 likely benefits, if our necks did behave the same way our arms do- experiencing the same burning, discomfort, & eventual inability to continue holding a stressful position. The first, & most important, is that after holding our heads in a painful & unhealthy position for any extended period of time, it would be good if our necks simply stopped being able/refused to continue holding our heads in that position, because it would prevent us from developing the poor posture & calcification of the muscles that it creates. The second, is that holding a weight, still, at arm’s length is an isometric exercise, & of the many positive effects of isometrics (strengthening muscle fibers, lowering blood pressure, & building cartilage, among many others), one of them is……better posture!
So, perhaps it actually quite UNlucky that our necks don’t react to stress the same way our arms do. Because if they did, it would prevent us from being capable of putting our necks through the prolonged stress that we do; &, by strengthening the muscles & cartilage in our necks, they would be able to hold more & more of the weight of our heads & lessen the strain on our spine, & it would improve our over-all posture & benefit multiple other aspects of our health.
So I thought maybe you’d like to consider editing out the word “lucky”, or “luckily”, before saying the muscles in our necks don’t behave like those in our arms. Just a thought! Thanks again!

With headaches, there can be a lot of reasons why you have them. The advice in the video tackles the most common reasons, but it wouldn't be wise for me to tell you a diagnosis without an examination. If the advice in the video doesn't help, you will need to see your chiropractor or MD.

Hi ! Late comment but I have a question. I was very stressed and working hunched over for a few weeks applying for a new job, as well as working on the couch for over half a year looking down at my laptop. I was a stomach sleeper anyways I had a nightmare and extended my neck as far our as possible on one side while I was half aware I remember pushing it so hard. Woke up with stiff neck on that side than headache on back of head on the same side. With muscle relaxants went away in a week but than scalp soreness , overall temple headache etc for a week and a half. Doctors said it was due to stress and anxiety. It went away for a month than felt it again more so on the right side but less severe than before for like a week. I just wanted to know , what could I have done during my sleep that caused this ?

My head is not forward and my spine is aligned and I still get headaches, why? The answer is my back and shoulder muscles pull on my occipital bone to which they are attached and relaxing them is a problem because at 85 my hyuralonic acid levels in my fascia are low. This stops muscles moving smoothly when one do the stretches you suggest and makes the situation worse. What is needed is massage to release the fascia.

I move my head left and right and the back of my head cracks 😭 is that bad ? (Not directly left to right, like I’m cracking it)

    • @COREChiropracticHouston
      @COREChiropracticHouston  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

If you're just moving your head and not putting any force into it - cracking is fine. It's releasing areas that are stuck. If it's happening a lot, you have some tight muscles that need to be stretched and/or need to get adjusted. The cracks on your own are rarely the vertebra that needs to crack. It's usually the one above or below the bad one.

    • @COREChiropracticHouston

You can put your laptop or book up on a stand to read. You can use an external keyboard or mouse and use your laptop as a monitor. You don't have to look down on your phone to use your phone.

Hi, I often get headaches in the back of my head, close to the base, with back and forth head movement or looking up and down and turning my head while walking. Along with the headache, I usually start feeling nauseous. Sitting down and looking straight ahead doesn't seem to trigger it. I do often find myself hunched over while working though. Do you think this could still be related to the neck?

Once a day is plenty, but you can do it a couple of times per day when you first start. If you get sore, give yourself a break.

Can this cause neck pain as well? I’ve had a headache at the back of my head that’s turned into neck pain for a week now. I’ve worked at a desk job since January and my postures been bad and I’ve been cracking my neck a lot. I also had a family medical emergency that has caused a lot of stress and tension

@@thembbsyatri8551 hey! So I was having really bad anxiety at the time. I tensed up so badly and it was also because of the job I was at. I talked to my doctor and they gave me muscle relaxants to relax my body to relieve the pain (and to help me sleep) so that helped after a few days but my doctor said it’s definitely muscular tension because of anxiety. It’s gone away now as I learned to relax again and tried to focus on breathing and posture. I hope you feel better soon!

Yes, because it can affect your vascular system. That's not a common trigger for most people though.
