Think about this. These are 5000 pound trucks running 14.5's. That was Mustang GT acceleration back in the early 90's. So we basically have stock trucks that with some more tuning could dip in the 13's. We live in good times.

Want to wake it up a touch, but just dont want to jeopardize the warranty if that lazy shifting 10 speed does happen to grenade. If its tuned and it does have a problem and needs dealer work, can you flash it back to stock and make it so a tune was undetectable?

Stock for stock the ecoboost ran 14.64 @93.77mph. The coyote ran 14.66 @95.61mph. The coyote trapped about 2 mph faster. The ecoboost reached the line first by two one hundredths of a second.
The tune somehow made the ecoboost only marginally faster for such a big gain on a dyno chart, trapping about the same as the stock coyote but dropping 3 tenths, which is decent. The coyote went a tenth quicker and trapped slightly slower with a tune....? Not sure what else to say. Go to Lund or AED for a coyote tune.

I was surprised when I saw the time difference with the ecoboost after the tune. I don’t know if they did more runs than that one, but I think something was off or the tune was off. Especially since on the dyno it only gained 30 rwtq. I’ve seen much bigger gains from tunes only on ecoboosts.
I can tell you from personal experience that a good tune makes a MUCH bigger difference than what they had. I’ve seen a TH-cam video from fast lane trucks that had before/after at a drag strip with tune only and although I don’t remember the 1/4 mile times, the 0-60 times went from 5.9 stock to 4.4 with tune only. 1.5 seconds for 0-60 is going to be a much bigger gain in the 1/4 mile than what these guys had.

I didnt feel this "mountain" of low end torque people keep talking about lol. Had alot of turbo lag. At about 50-60 mph it felt a little more peppy. But that 10 speed sure wasn't as quick shifting as Ford advertised them to be.
Not trying to knock your truck. Just didnt have the experience everyone else said they have when they drive it. And I was coming from a 2015 quad cab 4x4 ram with the hemi and 8spd. The 2019 f150 did not feel any quicker. Also test drove a 2019 Silverado 4 door 10 speed with the 6.2L. Again...not impressed. @Tony The Truck Guy
I’m with you on the no trust in twisting the nuts on a squirrel to make a 6 run like an 8 cylinder, regardless of the platform(car vs. truck)!!!
As far as whether the Eco-flop sells more than the 5.0 Coyote, that has more to do with those near tree huggers and idiots who think they are getting better performance initially than the truth over time!!!
When I was growing up(back when it was Mustangs making these kind of numbers and trucks couldn’t touch low 16’s) if you were going to add a turbo or a supercharger to and engine, the very FIRST thing you did was to overbuild the bottom end of the motor(forged crank, forged pistons, splayed four bolt main bearings, stronger piston rings), then you upgraded the heads with studs for fastening hardware, roller rocker arms, better lifters and improved push rods, then you added the turbo or supercharger!!!
I can guarantee that none of that has been done for these mass produced, short life, exploder motors!!!
The fact that there aren’t massive complaints about major engine failures with these eco-bitch motors is simply because Ford manufacturing has got to be suppressing the information!!!
For all the reasons I just pointed out, those eco-bombs are just that, bombs waiting to explode!!!
Yes, every engine is capable of a catastrophic failure regardless of it’s make up!
But when the engine is built small to begin with, then you add a device that increases internal pressures exponentially, without building the failure points stronger to prevent failures, FAILURE is the best you can expect!!!

Eh, it's similar to how the old 302 windsor was in the F-150's. It was okay, but it didn't have great low end grunt so you had to be willing to get on the gas in order to get the thing moving at a decent clip. The Coyote is a high strung engine, it makes most of it's power at higher RPMs. Fine for a Mustang, but not ideal for a truck. The 10 speed really helps the Coyote more than it does the EB. With the older six speed trucks, the EB had a decisive advantage, it's got gobs of low and mid-range torque (which is what you want in a truck), so it moved the truck around with less effort. The ten speed brings the coyote up to near parity in terms of outright performance as it keeps the coyote on boil when you're on a full-throttle run. The EB doesn't benefit as much from the ten speed as it has a wider powerband.

I love my EcoBoost 350 I put a tuner on it a cold air intake on it I love it it's fast I'm taking it to the track done roll racing with it go racing starting from 40 miles an hour I was running 10 seconds in a quarter mile the truck moves out really well especially when you build up boost before you leave with my tuner I went from 19 lb stock to 29 lb of boost

Also any negative effects on changing tune back and forth to stock? thinking if I know I'm going to tow I'll do the tune them change it back for the daily commute? Thanks great video!

In November of 2017 I went to the Ford Truck dealer, and told them I want a truck with electric windows and mirrors. I drove away with a 3.5 EB with more power than any car I ever owned before. Score. I think I own one of the few 2WD, standard cab, long bed F150 in my area. Lovin' it to this day.

This is truly impressive when one considers that in the early 70's it took a bit of tuning to make a small block Mustang turn these kind of times.

5.0 is my preference. I admit the Eco is quick and has a good power curve. I just believe the 5.0 is so much less complicated and cheaper to maintain in the long run. I find it interesting that people I talk to with the Eco will brag about their fuel mileage and then after they get rid of them and get a 5.0 they say it’s not that much different. These are the 2015 to 2017 trucks, don’t know if newer ones are different. I’ve watched more than one comparison where they interview mechanics at a Ford dealership and all but a few will say they prefer the 5.0. That being said to each your own. It depends on what you do with your truck and what is important to you.

@@NoOne-wv6zc I would agree with this. Having had everything from 5.3/6.0 GM to 70's Trans Ams to almost all of Ford's pickup motors (the Tritons were crap weren't they?) over the last 40 years I can honestly say this is the quickest pickup I've ever owned. Not just on paper but seat of pants. To think it wipes most "muscle cars"of my era off the map in stock form is just astonishing. Plus tows a 10,000 pound boat and your entire family and camping gear. What else do you need? It is a rocketship pickup for sure.

I have a '19 2.7 and with high octane and sport mode it chirps the tires on shifts and is impossible to not spin the LS rear (both tires) on takeoff. This is a stock 2 and half ton 4x4 crew. I just hope Ford doesnt decide it's too much for the average grocery getter and detunes them in the future!

Stay stock, stay happy. Just got a 2019 SuperCrew FX4 with the 3.5L and max trailer tow package. My normal tow is a tritoon along Cherokee Foothills Parkway so not heavy at around 5000lbs but lots of grades and a parachute, usually run around 65mph. Other vehicle I normally tow with is a 90k mile 2005 Hemi Durango with five speed auto. First trip with the F-150 was a dream. Similar fuel mileage on the route but the ten speed and low RPM torque....man, I love it. Uphill runs in fifth and sixth vs second and third. I guess it's cool trying to get a refrigerator to run low 12's but I don't plan on doing anything more than routine maintenance.
