I bought the engine compartment package this week. I spent the last hour or so cleaning the bay. I have to admit it was easier than I expected. Those brushes really make the job a snap and the nonsense cleaner is awesome. Great products and I would recommend them to anyone who wants to tackle this themselves.
Thanks for this very needed video. Not everyone has access to a pressure washer, nor do they have the knowledge to clean an engine bay with water. Thank you!! Costa
Thanks for showing no-water cleaning. Last time I took a water spray to my engine, water -that turned into steam- destroyed the "micro chips" that control my spark plugs.
Technically that isn't possible, just as a water leak in a watercooled computer won't hurt anything (because it's pure water). If it's tap water though it contains conductive minerals. Sorry to hear but I'm guessing what happened is the car was started before it had a chance to dry out?

VRP is great for so many different areas. I put it on my dash like 2 months ago and it is still shiny. I like nonsense too. Diluted 7:1 it still cleans and foams great.
I’ve used a garden hose and a spray bottle with dish soap to clean my 2020 chevy impala about 5 times now and haven’t had an issue. But this method in the video is a good alternative.
Nice! Thank you for this video. I was searching for a video for washing the engine, because I have just a new car and I want to keep it tight there this time. I only saw video's where detailers uses a lot of water, some of the detailers even took some parts out of it. But I am not so confident to do that. Now with your video I know now how to clean it also, but in a simple way. Thanks again! 😄👍
I’m an ASE certified mechanic I also have owned a detail shop. That work just fine. But that a clean engine bay covered in road dust. I power wash them it is so much faster and as long as you don’t hammer the fuse block your fine. Everything in there is designed to get wet. Please don’t think I’m being rude. It’s hard to understand context when reading comments. I use a lot of there products as i no longer own my shop. There is no need for me to buy from my supplier as 5 gallon jugs of product would be pointless for me at this point. I do about 12 cars/trucks a year now. I just don’t want someone to be afraid to power wash their engine bay.
Nice how-to! I use similar methods. But the dirt still remained down in between all those crevices the the brush and rag can’t reach. You’ll hate me, but I use Simple Green in a spray bottle, then use a high power hose to spray it all off. Once dry, I use a similar product to VLR but in a spray bottle to again get all the crevices shiny. It works pretty good👍
Your videos and products are very productive. One thing I fail to see get done, is the hood and the hood latch. If we're paying attention to detail keep that in mind for your next engine bay dress up video. This things sometimes get over looked when in reality that should be the first detail to get checked off. Just an FYI. Again awesome video!!! 💪😎👌
I really like this video because as an electrician water to electrical components goes against everything i ever learned 😂😂 so was very bery scared of that
Heard that you need to be careful near the serpentine belt and timing belt area as the dust falling down will damage them and eventually the engine as well. I know this Mazda model doesn't have a timing belt so it was easy to clean.
I always do the engine first with a pressure washer. I use chemical guys all clean +, Pressure wash it again. Then use the chemical guys air blower to dry. I have the old blue blower which looks like is discountined. Then finish it off with chemical guys silk shine. Ive owned multiple cars and never had any water issues doing it.
I never really took the time with the brush. But I ‘ve had really good luck with a foaming tire cleaner and just letting it set. Coming back way later. And wiping it off with just a old rag. I have just opened the hood. Before the engine got hot. And just sprayed water on it with out to many problems. The silicone acts like water repellent. Just stay away from anything to greasy.
Wish this was done on an older car with more usage, so we can really see the products work. Any reason to not take the engine cover off and do the intake as well?
No water is a really good method. My neighbor is a district service manager for a car manufacturer (I won’t say who). He was saying the sensors are made for splash resistance when new, but that degrades over time. Rinsing water in there is asking for trouble especially on a vehicle that’s a couple years old.
Did wash this engine at all before you actually shot the video at least clean the heavy dirt or dust build up? I noticed this engine was not too bad at all as if this car is always parked in the garage and not outside much in the elements.
Hey! Both are excellent choices for engine bay care. Black On Black covers more area in one spray and also works its way into crevices for a uniform finish with ease.
Ok I’ve done this like when I was 22 but now at 56 I really rely on light water pressure sprayed quickly across the engine. I don’t go to shows anymore
Hi Chemical Guys. I have a work to do with Computers and Laptops. I would like to know if I can use your products to make them clean and renew them. Of course, I have experience with electronic components just think that many people use Alcohol to clean surfaces and keyboards I don't. I prefer PH balanced chemicals and more of the cases I use Baby wipes to make the work But I am looking for your advice
How 'sticky' is the plastic after using CRO? I used to use another Chemical Guys product (Tire/Trim Gel) and it looked great but seemed to attract dirt... The downside of dry cleaning is that the engine remains greasy and dirty of course ;-)
I have seen the chemical guys products but was not familiar with them. Glad I found this video. But what product can you use around the inside of door jams?
Hi Joey.. again a great Video 👍🏼. I‘m using since years several CG products! I‘m planning as well to clean my engine bay as you showed it in this video! Just a question.. do you diluted the Nonsense Cleaner or did you ise it undiluted? Thanks 👍🏼😊
Is this cleaner also affective with an engine that has oil sludge throughout the engine? Also the area under the engine cover can that be cleaned as well?
Why would anyone care what the engine on their crappy Mazda looks like. I understand on a high end sports car but I had a guy who wanted this done on his Chevy Cruze and while I was happy to oblige, I don’t get it.

Exactly how I clean my engine bay. No water just these two great products.
Hi. Do you dilute the Nonsense Cleaner or do you use it undiluted? Thanks 👍🏼
@@Deanz09full strength if it’s this dirty. Nonsense doesn’t leave residue, so it’s pretty easy to use

It's safer not to use a pressure washer, just hose pressure. But still a very valid comment.
simple green works too< much cheaper as well!!!

you can use the "VRP" it works great also around the trunk and hood rubbers if you have them

this is only cleaning the visible areas - not actually cleaning as a whole. plus, this is not a dirty engine.

I fail to see how this method qualifies as 'Detailing'. Good products, but the method is lacking for 'detailing'. More like a 15 minute quick clean.
