Cleaning a Jeep engine bay is fun, it’s more water resistant than any normal car. It’s an offroad vehicle. Maybe do some hybrid or electric cars next time? I also recommend to film the engine bay & the dash before cleaning to look for any check engine light etc. It’s just a precaution to see if there is any damage/error before the cleaning process. I got a friend who blamed for a check engine light thats already been there before cleaning, but sadly he has no proof of it.
I use DI filtered water to clean and rinse the engine bay. I’ve read that electrical issues are caused by the minerals in water being conductive, not the water itself. Whether or not that’s true, I don’t know. But it works for me. And I don’t get water spots if I miss anything in the drying process. I like the idea of using Quick Beads in the rinse. I’ll have to try that. And I love the Master Blaster. The Sidekick works great as well 👍 My mechanic appreciates the clean engine bay when he gets in there too!
good point right there from Ivan; that Jeep was designed for rugged adventures so a bit of water should not hurt it; as long as you dry it as fast as you can - i suppose; i dont have a rugged/well-built SUV heheh. i only have an 8 year old toyota MPV so im still going to cover alternator and battery; and i am itching to test this, but that time will come when i have enough emergency fund just in case :D this is still a Gold Content, right here. thanks so much!
Hello Ivan and Nick, Can you guys please make a video of cleaning engine bay for electric cars like Nissan Leaf or similar with reduction motor on the front? Really appreciate it!
I was thinking the same thing. I have an egolf that has no motor cover and the engine (motor) compartment is nasty. Not sure if it is safe to touch the orange wires. I know it's not after an accident, but not so sure about cleaning. For sure, that thing must get wet with rain...
People are going to say “the pressure washer did the majority of the work”. They’re not wrong. However, the addition of chemicals (and agitation) helps to loosen stubborn dirt from the cracks and crevices. I’m totally on board with this method except for the foaming steps. I don’t foam anything, I just don’t believe in it. But that’s me, that’s my process. Soap, alone, cleans engine bays like 99% and like 99% of the time. I mean, that is, if there’s no engine, brake or transmission leaks. I seriously doubt DiY All Clean would be able to handle any kind of built up gunk … maybe I’m wrong? I don’t know for sure, I don’t have it … yet. But I HAVE used DiY Rinseless on dozens of vehicle engine bays and it works excellent. I think a lot of people overuse harsh cleaners unnecessarily. I’m one of those guys who tries to keep it simple. If it’s not needed, then why do it? 👆🏼I’m not saying All Clean is garbage, it most certainly has its place. I’m saying why use it if I don’t have to. 😊😊😊
You will need to try DIY Detail All Clean . Foaming has its place, especially with all purpose cleaners. Every time a bubble bursts it adds fresh cleaner to the surface.
@@diydetailofficialFair enough. At this moment in time, I have entirely too many APCs and degreasers. I have no need for another. I’m sure, eventually, I’ll pick some up. Yeah I have watched videos where they are pressure washing everything from every angle, others where they say it will kill the engine, many in between. I personally have just been rubbing the engine bay down every couple of washes to try and make it so I don't have to wash it.
"Everything in detailing is better when it's cool," me detailing my car wearing a leather jacket and my sunglasses thinking everyone is looking at me like I'm the man.
Been a mechanic since 1989. We have always pressure washed under the hood.... even in the carburetor/ distributer days. No one covered the distributer and didn't think twice about the alternator. I have had one 1 issue on the restart after the wash (in 30 plus years) and that was due to the coil pack on a VW was cracked. So it needed changed anyway because it was damaged. Why oh why are people worried about water in an engine bay????? Guess they don't drive on raining days
Hi guys! Since you guys mentioned how well All Clean works when foamed, any chance in the future can a foaming sprayer head come with the 16oz bottles?
If someone ever brings a classic 1960's car into the DIY Detail shop, along with and exterior detail, could you show how to safely detail engines of old classics?
I use a sprayer to spread my soap and with a brush I agitate the soap evenly section by section and I use a wet microfiber towel to remove the soap and I rinse the towel in a water bucket. Step by step. Like so I don't use a ton of water to clean my engine bay and it's much safer for the components and electronics.
While spraying the Quick Beads around the engine bay, I would assume some Quick Beads most likely splashed on the exterior paint. Would a quick follow up wash with Incredible Suds or Rinseless of the paint get the Quick Beads off so a coating would cross link properly or polishing the paint be recommended to insure proper cross linking?
