Hi Pan, I have gloss black tail trims around my exhaust tail pipes which have a small amount of carbon build up around them, what would you recommend to remove the carbon build up and polish the trim back to OEM finish please 🙏
I just washed my two year's old Honda crv engine bay at last weekend. I watched your engine bay cleaning video for many times, and I do it finally, thank you Pan!
Thank you! I really appreciate the kind words. We are in the top 4 of detailing channels in the world, and will hopefully soon surpass 1 million subscribers. The other three channels all do the "super dirty disaster detail car wash or barn finds", so I'm actually the biggest channel that focuses on tutorials and product reviews/testing. :)
Why does does he not have more views? Number 1, he talks to fast. Number 2, he was kind of OK in the beginning but then it became all about the money. He never should have shown us his new Porsche. Once you start selling stuff it's not about information it's about profit. Not a hater, used to like him.
@@stevelangsdorf7307how did it become all about the money? I watch tons of these videos and I don't see that at all. He's telling us what the best products to use are which is a pretty massive part of detailing. He uses dozens of companies products. In this video alone he goes through like ten manufacturers of products so he's not bought by any one of them. Also, the man clearly loves cars. Why do you care whether he bought a nice car? He's not allowed to buy a Porsche? The jealousy in that statement is wild.
@@stevelangsdorf7307it’s a business that he has built. How do you run a business if you don’t make money? You are very clueless on your observation. You do realize he makes more or most money off his videos than what products he sells, right? And if you think he talks to fast then rewind it and listen or again or become a better listener.
Hey guys, chill. I like Pan always have, I am very happy for him and his success. The question was how does he not have 2 million subscribers and I tried to be objective in my answer and give some reasons why he might not have as many as we think he should. I watch all the top guys and I don't get why he doesn't have more. But just because I answered the question doesn't mean I am a hater , it means I tried to answer the question. Obviously there are a lot of Pan hatrers out there or more people would be hitting his button. So you tell me why YOU think he doesn't have more viewers . Can't wait. MAD RESPECT FROM EAST LONG BEACH 💯

While cleaning and detailing your engine bay is great to make it look good it should also be noted that you should spend proper time to thoroughly dry it and then use some anti-rust treatment in relevant areas. This is especially necessary on the sides where the fenders and wheel houses are. There are many overlapping metal parts, folds, and crevices where water and humidity gets in and if untreated your car will start rusting faster than you can say "Koch Chemie" 😅. If you live in constantly dry and sunny areas it's not a big issue, but in many parts of the world it's better to have a comparatively dirty car with good anti-rust treatment than a clean car that will be a write-off after 10-15 years because major parts have so much rust that it's not viable to repair it anymore.
Fantastic step by step guide on how to detail the engine bay of your car! I still remember the first time I detailed the engine bays of both my cars. It was a little intimidating at first, but by following your amazing instructions it was a breeze and so much fun🥳. Absolutely loved the first person view👌🏻. Stellar work Pan!
Absolutely fantastic. I’m going to clean my 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander that I gave my wife to drive. (I bought a Toyota HiLux and she wanted to keep my outlander because she loves it) I purchased it brand new and it has done over 300,000 kilometres and the engine bay is very dirty. I’ll post a pic of it before and after. Thanks Pan.
Love when you talk about keeping it fun. I'm still a weekend warrior and I get excited i get to work on an SUV first thing in the morning. Love what i do , can't wait to be full time.
That alkaline stuff is caustic and a good electrical conductor. So probably more precautions would be needed for older cars. Also the brake fluid is hydroscopic and its reservoir cap usually have a little hole that one might not want to wash with pressure.
6:02 After I clean my engine on my 2020 Toyota Camry and let it dry . I liberally spray 303 Protectant , all over the engine compartment and let it soak in . Never any streaking / staining issues , etc. I do this about twice a year to help rubber and plastic components resist cracking and fading . Then about a month later I will clean the engine again , as the 303 Protectant attracts surface dirt . Best time I think is during hot spring and summer . That allows the 303 Protectant to be really absorbed the best . My air intake is open , so I stuff a microfiber towel in it to prevent water from getting inside
You truly are an inspiration and a master of instructional detail videos. Because of your videos I have gotten back into my passion for cleaning and detailing not only on my own pride and joy truck but family friends and some real customers! I thank you sir! its such a great satisfaction seeing the before and after and thats why I love detailing
I love Hyper dressing. Being able to control the gloss level is amazing but Motorplast is hard to beat. I coated everything with Vonixx V-Energy engine bay ceramic coating and maintain it with Motorplast. It 95 percent self levels, isn't too glossy, lasts a long time and actually protects more than just the plastic. Phenomenal product IMO
TY Pan loved this engine detail video, I do pretty much as you did to detail my engine with similar products available here in Australia except on the hood/bonnet, there i find it much easier to use damp/wet micro fibre towels after spraying the metal areas to wipe off any dust and then vacuum the material sound proofing. I do it that way as i don't like to get a lot of water on that area. Loved this mate as so many as you said tell you DON'T DO IT!! you will cause issues, well I have never had an issue detail the engine bay and my mechanic loves me for it makes it a joy for him to work on and shows i care. Keep Safe Keep Strong 🦘🦘🦘🦘❤❤👍👍👍👍
I’m happy that this method is working for you. Personally, I feel uncomfortable with this much fluid rinsed under pressure near electrical connections/components.
I use Optimum Power Clean and steam to clean engine bays, along with microfibers and assorted brushes. I've used my old wheel woolies to clean some of the "less accessible" areas of engine bays. I blow them dry afterward. Another thing to consider is to block the air intakes to keep excess water from entering. For cold air induction systems, I wrap a gallon size ziploc bag around the air filter.
Thanks Pan! It was great to meet you at SEMA. I always look forward to drinking coffee and watching your videos on a Saturday morning. I have over 20 years of auto repair experience. And agree that most things built after 2005 should handle these steps pretty well. Never use a garden hose, avoid high pressure contact from both washer and compressed air. You don’t want to force water past the weather pack seals. And of course, use common sense and look the engine over first. I would also watch out for labels fixed to plastic parts. They come off easily with water and dirt if not being careful. Same with powerful degreasers on painted engine covers.

Pan, it is always soooo satisfying to lift the hood and have it look as good as the rest of the car. I just did my pre-winter clean and coated with Seal&Shine. Twice a year [for me] keeps things looking very tidy with the degree of difficulty and time consumption to a minimum. Patience and a bit of persistence on the initial deep clean then as you say "practice" can keep maintenance to a short time. Not to mention potential resale value! Gr8 vid! Shine on you crazy diamond!

Thank You, Pan! I've cleaned many engines in nearly 52 years. Lots of different ways to do it. We can always learn more. My Z06 needs the engine cleaned. I miss that OEM look(it's dirty). It's 70* in CT now, might have to take advantage of that as these types of temperatures will not last long! Have a fun weekend.
I LOVE cleaning engine bays! I have a 2013 Explorer Sport that is basically a "backup" vehicle, and I cleaned its engine bay recently. It is getting dusty from sitting with the hood open (battery tender), and I want to detail it again, since it looks so amazing when it is freshly cleaned.
Yup. My fave part of washing cars and trucks. Also my fave part of vehicles to watch get cleaned. Great video Pan. I'm a fan of VRP. Next time I'm going to dilute it and spray it.
After leaving the service I honestly didn’t know what I wanted to do lost and confused.. after watching one of your videos I picked it up as a hobby since I love cars and quickly became a hobby and side gig and I love doing it!!💪🏾❤️

Nice video as always Pan. I got a suggestion for a future video. We all want the perfect paint for our car but one thing we cant escape is winter and snow removal. Id like to see a test of various snow brushes and finally be able to pick one thats easy on the paint.
Wow this video is right on time. I was just looking at the engine bay of my 2020 model year car thinking that it is time to detail the engine bay before it gets too out of hand.
Very good job as usual Pan. Very professional including your intro. 👍👍 Also congratulations to getting close to 900,000 subscribers. Keep doing what your doing and 1 million followers is just around the corner.
Pam, just a comment, for older cars with more exposed metal, how do you keep the chrome/iron parts shiny after degreaser, protected? This clip and your chosen products works well for a modern car with a lot more pastics/rubber hoses. What would you use to shine and protect the main engine hub?
Pan, quite late to reply but this was incredibly helpful. I have always been nervous about cleaning the engine bay on my new cars, but I took the leap of faith. My truck gets rustproofing oil treatment every year, so the grime was severe. I figured it was time to reset and start fresh - and wow! It was quick, easy, and painless. I must say, the KC products you recommended were top tier. Many thanks from over here in the prairies.

Cleaning the engine bay is one of the most satisfying things in car detailing. Having a brand new looking engine bay is such a good feeling and is functionally good for detecting oil/coolant leaks and issues as they pop up. Edit: 11:50 LOL I wrote this comment like 5 seconds before hearing Pan say the same that's hilarious.
Thanks Pan, great video once again. You know, I am thinking of unsubscribing from all the other detailing channels because I love the way you explain everything so well plus you seem to be doing videos of everything we need. Could I make a suggestion? Would you consider doing a "Old Car" series where you bring back an older car, say 10-15 year old car as a challenge back to new? New cars are a lot easier to maintain like your girlfriends car which is only a year old but I would enjoy seeing you challenge yourself with a neglected older car. Thanks for Oz.

What an awesome video, the patience of how you explained every single step and how you emphasize on the caution or dangers areas is amazing I’m definitely saving this video for future use on my archives, thank you 🙏 Pan
Great video as always. Still I'm not sure that using the pressure washer is safe. Instead I always use a couple of brushes and microfiber towels to do the job. It takes a bit more time but i think it safer that way and preventing any risk caused by water getting to some electrical parts, etc.
You do as you wish. I have pretty much always used a pressure washer and never once had any issue or feedback afterwards that something went wrong. Again, common sense. Also, a pressure washer uses less water compared to a garden hose. So although it seems like you're using a lot of water, you're actually using way less compared to a regular garden hose setup.
@@PanTheOrganizer LOL. Ivan is using a $20 garden hose that uses more water, while you’re using a $1500 pressure washer that uses less water. Ivan has saved himself a lot of money by using a little bit more water. Go Ivan.
Actually it’s quite safe to use the pressure washer if you are using common sense, staying below 2000 psi, and always keep the sprayer moving as Pan says. Dealers use it and professional detailers have been using pressure washers for a long time now.
If water getting into the engine bay was an issue, we’d have issues every time it rains or we run through standing water. The only issue I can see is if you get too close with a pressure washer. If you use a fan spray and stay at a sufficient distance, you’ll use much less water with a pressure washer than a garden hose. However; like Pan said: you do you. Edited for spelling

This makes me feel better. I’m nervous a little bit because my engine is pretty exposed and I didn’t want to mess up anything. I was also nervous about water near headlight connectors. For people saying it's not safe. Pan said he has done hundreds of engines details and I've done probably 1000's over 26 years, yes it is safe as long as you take precautions. The only issue one of my detailer had was because a mechanic forgot to put the fuse box cover back on properly. Besides that, use common sense and don't blast the engine super close, stay 2-3 feet away and keep moving the water media.

In turkey we covered alternator and computer unit with nylon bag. And we put high pressure gas, kerosene or diesel . Wait 5 minutes we do vacuum everywhere and done.
I LOVE engine bay degreasing and detailing! My clients are educated on the benefits and see for themselves the difference it makes. The ultimate goal, especially when running a business, is convincing that client to have this service done every few months. A maintenance detail pays well for both detailer and client!
@@mplslawnguy3389 there's literally several reasons to do it to include cleanliness. Which is, after all, the name of the game. My last client had a major diesel leak in the engine compartment which caused fumes to penetrate into the cabin. Guess that doesn't meet your definition of literal either.
@@gunsnsails Just not something I would do. I’ll wipe it down if it’s excessively dirty. Not a fan of spraying water in there though, especially from a pressure washer.

@PanTheOrganizer Thank you, I appreciate the warm welcome. I commented on one of your other videos with a few questions about compounds, polishes and supplies.
One of the most detailed videos out there but yeah there is a but coming from my personal experience if you’re planing to maximum your cars well being and keeping a clean engine bay try doing things manually with the least amount of water dripping down based on your car there are many wiring and sockets down there hiding from your eyes you use water well once twice it’s might be ok but if you over do it that water will get in to your wiring sockets and sulfates and believe me you don’t want that my 2014 kia optimas tcu (rip) destroyed just like that… this doesn’t mean it will happen to your car if you do it no just be careful and know your engine bay it happened to me because first of all i literally used to wash my engine bay every month and second is that the socket that connected my gearbox to tcu was just under my air box so every time i washed it little drops of water got in there and over time sulfated in there and …. Yeah you can guess the rest anyways this was just a hint out of a personal experience nothing more clean your engine bay with precision and make your car happy

Hi Pan. Thank you for another helpful video . As for me, its best if I keep my engine bay clean to avoid a process that requires cleaning agents . On average i will spend less than 5 mins once a month or so wiping down areas of my engine bay with a slightly dampened cloth. I will often use a few sprays of a Glass Cleaner ( amonia free )on a cloth )
Excellent work Pan! I like using Super Clean for the initial pre spray and a mixture of any APC and high foaming neutral car soap in my foam cannon or IK foam sprayer and apply a heavy rich foam to do it's work. I usually hit everything with my steamer and agitate with brushes and a final rinse. My go to protection is 1:1 dilution ratio of Chemical guys VRP. I will definitely consider your process by eliminating the steam to see if I can get the optimum results.
Great video and informative as usual Pan. I hand wash my engine bay with spray and micro fiber because my Hybrid vehicle has lots of electrical and i am afraid of messing stuff up, lol
After I cleaned my engine, all the big and flat areas like the front cowling and engine cover got a coat of Ethos Graphene. Makes it really pop and easy to clean next time.
I love your videos! They are super informative and helpful. Car detailing can be a mystery lol. I bet a lot of people would be interested in what kind of car vacuum you use and what you recommend. My old shopvac just didn't have enough power to do a adequate job. Thank you and I appreciate you.
Looks really nice. A general question. Are we doing it for own satisfaction? we clean is only 1/3 of the engine bay. Most of it is well in the engine bay in unreachable areas. Dont we just put on a make up and forget about rest of the body? So what is the point?
Best engine detail video that I have seen so far. I have three of my own to do. Two of them are very grungy diesel engines. Going to use your Super Clean video and this video to do those. I bet they come out great. Thank you!
Jeeze Pan, thanks for reminding me how dirty my engine bays are, lol. Videos like these help in making me feel more confident in cleaning them for the first time. My daily driver looks like a natural disaster under the hood compared to this one. There are a few ones out there that are a huge fan of Hyper Dressing but I've only used KCx Motorplast on wheel well plastics and was blown away! That engine bay looked fantastic but honestly I would have misted distilled water on the black plastics before using the dressing though.
I live by the ocean and with all the salt air things rust quickly. What do you recommend to spray on the hood latches and shocks that open the hood itself to protect those types of things from rust/corrosion? Thanks! Great work!
Hey Pan can we get a video or an updated video of a top 5 products to keep in your arsenal if you wanted to keep your used products at a minimum or if you're on a budget. Like some multi use products would be great and explaining the variety of uses for each product. With so many products out there now it sometimes gets overwhelming. Love the content keep it up.
You completely missed the point of the video. This isn’t one of those entertaining “watch my clean a filthy car” videos. This is a tutorial showing people how we do an engine bay detsil properly and what products and tools to use. It doesn’t matter how clean or dirty you think an engine bay is. A dirtier engine bay just requires more elbow grease, but the same process applies. Welcome to my channel. Awesome video, one of tools and products I use on my engines is the Tornado Car Cleaning Gun filled with Optimum No Rinse Wash, it worked really well in getting the dirt in all the tight spots around the intakes and electrical boxes when I just wanting to do an engine touch up. I’m going to give the KOCH CHEMIE | Motorplast a try. I’m always worried about spray products in the engine area for fears of it become a dirt magnet. Thanks again for the great video and product suggestions!

My engine bay (14 years old car) is full of rusty components. Should I try cleaning it? Or rather avoid it when it still works? I intend to keep the car for the next 5 year and need to do maximum to keep it functional.
What abou a 20 yr old trailblazer engine bay that has never been washed?? How can I know what to cover and what not, I really want to clean it but afraid I'm going to mess it up 😟
You just have to be more careful, and perhaps use a garden hose in that situation, instead of a pressure washer. Cover any exposed electronics like the main computer, or alternator, or fuse box. Don't focus the stream of water on the same spot for many seconds. Keep the wand moving and sweeping across the engine bay. Or, you could avoid using water altogether, by just purchasing a waterless wash type product. Spray that liberally all around the engine bay, and use detailing brushes to agitate, and then mop up and wipe with old microfiber towels. And that should still get you a very good result. Here's a quality waterless wash that will work super well: bit.ly/4bFYfRD Or this alternative from Amazon: amzn.to/4bLFL24 Welcome to my channel. Hello Paaaaann !!! 😎

I just washed my two year's old Honda crv engine bay at last weekend. I watched your engine bay cleaning video for many times, and I do it finally, thank you Pan!

How does this channel not have 2M subscribers, i dont know.... Awesome channel on auto detailing...the best ive seen
Can't wait.
Glad you liked it! And yeah I tried to film a bit differently this time with the GoPro! :)

Thanks Pan.
You bet!
I’ve seen a lot of engine bay detailing videos and this one is by far, BY FAR, the best video out there. Thanks Pan.
I really appreciate that Max! 🙌🏻
Love when you talk about keeping it fun. I'm still a weekend warrior and I get excited i get to work on an SUV first thing in the morning. Love what i do , can't wait to be full time.
You can do it!
Pan you're the Bob Ross of car detailing! After watching your video you gave me confidence to clean my engine bay and it turned out well! Thanks!
Great to hear!
There you go mate!
I’m happy that this method is working for you. Personally, I feel uncomfortable with this much fluid rinsed under pressure near electrical connections/components.
Rightly so.
Feels great when I have the time to clean my whole car, including the engine. Thanks Pan!
True that!
You bet!
Thanks JJ! It was nice meeting you too. I love the "Pan and coffee" morning routine! :)

Twice a year [for me] keeps things looking very tidy with the degree of difficulty and time consumption to a minimum. Pam, just a comment, for older cars with more exposed metal, how do you keep the chrome/iron parts shiny after degreaser, protected? This clip and your chosen products works well for a modern car with a lot more pastics/rubber hoses. What would you use to shine and protect the main engine hub?

Could I make a suggestion? Would you consider doing a "Old Car" series where you bring back an older car, say 10-15 year old car as a challenge back to new? New cars are a lot easier to maintain like your girlfriends car which is only a year old but I would enjoy seeing you challenge yourself with a neglected older car. Thanks for Oz.
Thanks for the kind words Padma! I truly appreciate it. I mainly detail new and higher end cars as my customer base has a bigger budget.
That being said, I did produce a few videos restoring older neglected vehicles, which I think you’ll appreciate. Here they are:

I’m definitely saving this video for future use on my archives, thank you 🙏 Pan
Thanks for the positive feedback Joe!
Years ago we used a product called Gunk Engine Degreaser. I just saw they still make it. Powerful stuff.
Awesome video! I was always scared to wash my engine bay, but after seeing your video I understand the detail and ease with practice it’s possible 👍🏼
There you go! :)
I thought it was already clean, then you cleaned it...WOW! What a difference 👌
😁👍🏻💪🏻
@@CageyLeigh 1500$ for a pressure washer? Umm you know u can get one for 100 right LOL

Beautiful turnaround on Isabellas suv. I actually did this about a month ago, took the vehicle to krown rust control & they messed it up a bit. Touched up the vehicle again and all is good. Perfect tutorial pan. 👍🇨🇦
Thanks! 😁
This makes me feel better. I’m nervous a little bit because my engine is pretty exposed and I didn’t want to mess up anything. I was also nervous about water near headlight connectors. I’m going to start small and do it until I feel way more comfortable.
As well, I’m going to by that mini blower with heat that should save me a ton

For people saying it's not safe.
Pan said he has done hundreds of engines details and I've done probably 1000's over 26 years, yes it is safe as long as you take precautions.
The only issue one of my detailer had was because a mechanic forgot to put the fuse box cover back on properly. Besides that, use common sense and don't blast the engine super close, stay 2-3 feet away and keep moving the water media.
There you go!
This is amazing. I have always wanted to clean my engine and have been intimidated. Not the case any longer. Thank you for your time and energy here!

Thanks for sharing Brandon!
There's literally no reason to do it, but I suppose if it makes you money, have at it.
Love your channel and been subscribed for several years. I soooo want to do this to my '04 Ford F150 because it is so dirty. Great video! One tip from other mechanics is to spray the rubber hoses and boots around/under the engine with the protectant. That keeps your CV joints and heater hoses from cracking prematurely.

Hehe this was by no stretch of the imagination a clean engine bay. Certainly not to detailing obsessed people like me and my viewers. ;)
But what is important in this video is the technique, tools and products. The procedure is the same regardless of the dirt level of the engine bay. A dirtier engine bay just requires more work.

Great video, I also use Green Star and Motorplast, but have also used Koch-Chemie Vorreiniger B instead of Green Star as it is my standard pre-wash foam. I was quite nervous the first time, but never had any problem. Motorplast made a never washed 10 years old engine look new. I never dry the engine bay. Keep up the good work, picked up a few new tips here for the next wash

Great to hear!
This is a fantastic walkthrough! I love 1:36 part! Words from people can be very intimidating! Experience and hands on make the total different! Thanks for sharing

How did you discover my channel by the way?
Thanks Ken!
Great video and informative as usual Pan. I hand wash my engine bay with spray and micro fiber because my Hybrid vehicle has lots of electrical and i am afraid of messing stuff up, lol
Thanks Pat!

Awesome video, I own a 2003 M3 E46 and 2001 Z3 coupe. Those cars are over 20 years old. Makes me nervous to use water. Any tips would be appreciated
Thank you!
Thanks for the positive feedback!
Keep that motor clean. That way you can see a issue from 4 ft back. Great video Pan. Thanks!

I have a water deionizer in my garage. ;)
Great process I do my own repairs and washing is a great way to discover issues before there issues
Thanks Eric!
I live by the ocean and with all the salt air things rust quickly. What do you recommend to spray on the hood latches and shocks that open the hood itself to protect those types of things from rust/corrosion? Thanks! Great work!

My engine bay (14 years old car) is full of rusty components. Should I try cleaning it? Or rather avoid it when it still works? I intend to keep the car for the next 5 year and need to do maximum to keep it functional.
Did this today on my 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid…Came out great thanks 13:38
Here's a quality waterless wash that will work super well: bit.ly/4bFYfRD
