I drove the diesel John Deere 4020 tricycle front tire type and loved it. My brother drove the same. We hag 4 of them and the hired help used the other 2. Well, I would use a large disk while my brother had a 6 bottom plow. We did great together. This was southern Illinois. I kinda know what you are doing and love it but you farm more acreage than we did. After college I went on to be an accountant. Oh well. Love watching your videos. Hi Zach you will find changing fuel filters no so messy if you place a clean plastic bag completely around the filter after you have slackened it a small amount and unscrew it in the bag for catch the run off fuel keep up the good job 👍🏻
On my car it gets changed every 6000km (3750mi). And that the max. Usually it’s a couple hundred less. An oil change costs a lot less than a new engine
@@gregjames5070 no, it’s “i like to take care of my vehicle”. I’m quite broke, i cant afford a new engine if mine blows, so i’ll take care of it. Costs a lot less

You can give dogs glocosamine chondrointin just like the stuff I take and it helps lubricate things and take some of the pain away. Pro tip for you when changing oilfilters. If you take a small freezing bag, that just fits over the oilfilter while unscrewing it, then all the mess ends up in the bag and no mess all over! And you hands stay clean while doing it even 🤩 Greetings from Denmark 👋🏻
I love how Millennial Farmer and Larson Farms all have to use their left hand to turn the keys on machinery because they always have a camera in their right hand for us! 😂
Terrific video as always. You might consider setting up Maintenance Manager in your John Deere Operation Center. You could then track the hours and general maintenance as well as receive alerts when maintenance is due. Works pretty slick and it’s a great way to manage a fleet. You can even use it with your semi trucks and personal vehicles.
It’s been so dry here in Indiana that the first corn coming into the feed mill is between 12.5 and 13.7 percent…straight into the bin. 👍🏻 Looking forward to watching you harvest. Will the kids be even more involved? I enjoy seeing them work with you! Take care!!
Anna and Dig are hilarious! Classic German Shepherd laziness until something catches their attention. And your tractor maintenance tips are spot on. 🚜☀
Just a thought: why don’t you put the oil buckets on the big rolly oil pan so when you miss it just goes in the pan. Hope this helps. Keep it between the rows this fall.
you could put the pails on top of the drain pan to catch the mess and being its on wheels it makes it easier to slide in and out. just a thought.... any ways great videos!!!!
You can pre fill the filters, just do it from the outside and try not to get any through the center hole. That way it is filtered and it's full. I'm not sure you could do that with the engine oil on that one with that deep dished center. It is a slow process though.
always always always prefill fuel filters. unless you really like the idea of buying a new fuel pump for your equipment/semi. Yes most pieces of equipment have electric lift pumps but those are not always the greatest at filling the filters from a filter change. they are designed to provide that initial startup pressure to the high pressure pump is all. if you start your tractor/semi and hear chirping sounds that is your fuel pump running dry which means metal shavings in fuel which means injectors eating not fuel. gets very expensive very quickly. considering a 6 pack on a detroit engine is north of $10k and a pump is another 5k worth the 30seconds to prefill your fuel filter.
My brother (the HVAC tech) and I (the network engineer) just yesterday had that same conversation about our phones being full of pictures of equipment tags and serial numbers. 😄
Hey bud they make big cookie sheets and parts stores sell them for to no spill on the concrete . I personally have 4 of them when I am servicing. Makes life much easier.
I drove an old car to the Lowry All American car show Saturday, thought sure I would see the Bonanza there, but did not,, the Moline could have made a trip as well, there were several tractors too.
Zack, the electric fuel pump, is there to fill those filters. Common Rail injectors for that tractor probably run close to $2,000.00 ea. I know the ones for Cummins QSX15 used to be $1,500 ea. So keep up the fair work. Best wishes from the far North.
I would assume you know you can set up maintenance times in the display of the tractor or what ever implemented you have and it will notify you when it is time to change it.
Coalition partners at the University of Minnesota are developing a novel crop called winter camelina seed, which can be used for a variety of purposes, including producing oil for conversion into SAF.
One good way to check how many hour you got on your oil change is to taste the oil on the end of the dipstick if it has the consistency of water you know it’s definitely time but If it’s like syrup you probably have some time on it still and one more thing if it tastes like you dumped lmnt in your water bottle and didn’t mix it enough you probably have bigger problems
I feel like your farm would benefit from a Lock Out Tag Out system for when you have equipment that is under maintenance or not currently safe to operate.
I would love to see you do a shed tour and explain why you have the various tractors you have. It seems they all have a purpose at different times of the year, but why use one tractor over another for any particular job?
Tractors all have different things that they are used for. Some jobs need lots of power and big wide tires or tracks for traction. Some tractors need to be smaller to fit down rows and don't need to be huge.
I know there's a delay between filming and releasing on TH-cam, but yeah, your beans are still really green. I started to see combines rolling about the 19th here in SE MN.
