I saw the title and I started Praying for you and then I realized that it was the grain leg so I was thankful it wasn’t your leg I absolutely love your videos you and your kids are Awesome
In Serbia we have 9-11% corn moister because of dry and hot summer (temperature goes 104+ F degree, 25+ days in August) so we harvest corn in first week of September (in normal year with lot of raining days in summer and normal temperature we remove corn in mid October)...yield was excellent for this dry and hot summer with no rain over 25+ days and it was over 160 bushel/acre or in metric units over 11000 kg/Ha. Greetings from Serbia to all farmers in USA and rest of the world....
Your dogs are the greatest. And it's so special how much you love them and spoil them DEFINITELY PART OF THE FAMILY . How is Catdog doing these days you ????
The real hero of the show. Can't even tell who's the stunt double and who's the farmer. Zach probably doesn't even farm anymore, just goes out racing while the stunt double works the farm.
Having a beautiful day then I come across a new video from Millennial Farmer that says I broke my leg. I watched every minute in anticipation for the worst. Then I got to the end and breathed a sigh of relief. Love the vids! Keep it up. Have a safe harvest
I like the "1980s intercom system" you are doing.... I swear that I could hear my Dad on the farm yelling commands from 1/2 mile away....who needed a 2 way radio on our farm...
Anna is your Safety Dog - while circling the Polaris, she's checking tires, looking for fluid leaks as well as small animals (or kids) hiding under it. Go Anna!!
When I saw the title I thought I would skip to the end so I didn’t see YOUR leg being broken. And then I found out that it was click bait and I was relieved. I didn’t need to see that So I went back to the beginning and watched a nice farming video. As a farmer I know the repercussions of a broken leg in the middle of harvest. And didn’t need to see it ever again or feel the pain and frustration. 👍👍👍
26:02 I think it's lovely that you're taking your wife to dinner 😊 Hope she enjoyed some time to relax also. Good luck with that leg and the corn harvest.
You got me with the “broken Leg”. I’m slow finally figured it out. Didn’t start farming until 1956. Thanks for checking the oil there. It reminded me I still need to buy a dip stick extender as my oil just barely shows on the end of the dip stick.
Thanks for another great video Zach and Becky and Dad and Onyx and Jim. It was interesting and enjoyable to watch. The title name got me; good idea. Then I realized you meant the GRAIN LEG!!!!!!!!! Good one!!!!!!! Glad you bin company could come right away and take that distributor down and fix it so you can process corn. Hopefully their fix on the distributor will work. Good company to come right away during a busy harvest season. Nice. Glad you were able to get the ripper fixed and ready to on for field work. Keeping tillage equipment going is not easy. Lots of pieces that either break or need adjustment. Busy time for tillage. Brake a leg - ha!!!!!! Good one!!!!!!!! Your corn at 17 percent is fantastic. Wow. That is unusual this time of year. Should let you push ahead with the corn 🌽 harvest now. Go get em!!!!!’ Anxious to hear if they were able to fix your distributor for you grain bin operation. Thanks for everything. You all take care and be safe with corn harvest. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
This was a joy to watch! Your storytelling style is amazing [9:48]. If you're ever looking for other farming techniques, we have some interesting experiments you might enjoy!
Great to see clean dry copn at thr start of harvest, Having some you time with dinner out with the head of theproduction team is ab excellent move before you get crazy busy with harvest. Go well
2:57 Hollering at Onyx like that sounded waaaay to much like my dad. I thought I had done something wrong. 😂 It's kinda like how I still get nervous when I hear a belt buckle jingle.
I really find your farm operation very interesting . you are very smart figuring out all your new equipment and hope how to solve your problems.. I felt sorry for for you figuring out that machine. Seems like a lot of trouble for that machine not working right. Hangin there.
In north Germany I harvested corn last day with 32% moisture. Not that dry but it dry here max 25% ist realistic. It's normally silage Mais for the cow's but this year we got the silos full, so rest is for the sale to corn. Yield is 10,9 tonnes per ha (10.000 m2) dry corn (15% dry). Sale price is here 200 € per tonne and dry costs 😢 are 2€ per tonne per % to 15%. Costs me 32% minus 15% is 17x 2€ = 34€ per tonne. So closely 500 € per hectare to dry it down. Good luck to all farmers worldwide!
We have been combining some of that low moisture corn NW of you also. We were surprised by the moisture ourselves. The wettest was about 18.5% to 19% when we started. The last 2 fields we combined were actually around 14%. We sure can't complain about the moisture & the harvest weather here in MN this year.
A farmer's son is always useful to have around when some extra hands are needed. However when, as a boy, I suggested to my father that maybe I should be paid he said that he had already deducted the cost of feeding me from my pay and there was nothing left 😆.
My mom broke her leg during grain season when I was a teenager. Still drove the combine harvester with the cast though. Ofc the cast didn`t like that, so it started to crack up and my mom would patch it together with steel plastic, as we call it here in Norway. The darn cast kept on cracking, and mom would patch it together again. Fast forward the usual 6-8 weeks, and we went to the Doctor to remove the cast. By that time the vast was mor steel plastic then it was gypsum. And the Doc did have some questions. But the most fun thing about it all, was when he tried to cut thru the cast with a cast saw. Sparks were flying all over the place, and we ended up with the cast saw that died 🤣🤣
In 1974 playing football I needed a knee operation and had just bought a Combine and ran most of corn and all of the beans in a cast made of duct tape and they changed it twice before taking it off
I understand why you didn't show us the guy getting the part out of the leg I wish you couldve but all I know is he is a bad ass he has to be one of those guys that's fun to watch cause he's good at his job As always good content and thank you
I've had problems with the Def heater in semis before and it's not a problem until the weather gets cold. You can wait and get it fixed when it's convenient for you.
I was just thinking about it being colder right before you said that Jim said it was the weather. Lol. Makes sense, especially if it was barely touching to start with.
I lived in central Ohio for four years. I was surprised at how many farmers let their corn winter over, unharvested in the field until spring. I grew up in Idaho, helped my grandfather on his farm (yes, he grew potatoes, wheat, and alfalfa). Except for the winter wheat an non-rotated alfalfa, nothing was left in the fields.
As a 20 yr duck guide the only thing that stood out in your video was the box of Kent Faststeel..... we used to use kent tungsten matrix but then again the owner of the marsh was very wealthy. Another great vid Zak....stay safe cheers from Ontario
