Pretty much every car i have ever owned had heated seats, but i never once used them. Would this be different in a tractor? Hard to see how. As long as you have heating in the cabin, which even 50 year old equipment has...

It's not tracked, but 8 wheels and articulated. I don't know what you call that. A dually x4? lol I was stunned seeing a yellow machine on his property. I just kind of shrugged and gave him the "WTF" look. He shook his head and in the saddest tone I have ever heard come from him, he simply said "Deere is not Deere anymore, and I can't sustain dealing with them any longer" Now this is a man who bleeds JD green and has for 50 years. If that isn't a damning statement, I don't know what is. And there are many, many farmers like him.
Yep, Shout it out L O U D ! Applies to all these large Brand machines ( and autos ) ( and doesn't mr Windows not have a very large share in JD & CAT ? )
Have you ever considered running a fendt? If you ever do and are looking for high horse, I would consider a 1050 wheeled machine. Or the 1167 2 track machine. I work on them. They are amazing and everyone who has bought one loves them.
That’s why I bought the tractors ran them till motors blew up and put c-1 8 800 hp cats in them. Semi trucks have C-16. Did not do that to combines those we just lease.
@@RockyMountainFarmer The oldest Tractor i have seen in more or less daily use is a Ferguson from 1949 , it is only used for transport of people and tools /Fuel to the big guys out on the fields, and as practice for the next generation, the toolset for it is simple, a big ass malles, a large screwdriver a roll of hemprope and gaffertape and a spanner. that is it.
It’s a problem across all brands. Here’s my rule of thumb, if it takes DEF fluid and has a diesel particulate filter (DPF) I don’t buy it. I only buy emissions free equipment. They are much more reliable , also easy to fix when something does break.
Our experience on our farm with sandy soils is that the 2 track is better than the 4 track machine Deere or case. I think the 4 track takes more power to run the tracks. The 2 track feels more nimble and cheaper as well, I don’t think we will every buy a quad lots of hype but I don’t think they are that great for the price.
@@RockyMountainFarmer Thanks for your interesting video. They claim that it takes about 45 hp to drive each track on a Quad. So with a 600 engine hp Quad, one can say that it is putting roughly 420 hp to the ground or 105 hp for each track. A two track tractor probably takes more hp for each track since the tracks are longer which means more friction to overcome.
Great video! You did an excellent job showcasing the John Deere 9RX, capturing both the excitement and the letdown of such a huge investment. The honest review and in-depth analysis really stood out, and the footage was top-notch. It's a good-looking machine. We upgraded to the 4075r for more pto hp. We lost roughly 19k on the trade and another 4k when JD bought it back after 2 months of towing to dealers.
Case quad track are probably the best on the market. With AFS connect you can't beat it. We run 2 580's and absolutely love em. Pull our 11 shank case chisel plow just fine at 6.5mph and our 31ft high speed disc at 10mph. We also pull 45ft kuhn soil finishers as well with them.
@RockyMountainFarmer we love em. We have demoed few different tractors. Had a big versatile with tires a big fendt front wheel assist and a JD with tires. We are big on compaction due to we have alot of organic acres. The case 580 quad track just was head n shoulders above the rest. We ran mostly case but open to find the best for our operation. The case quad just pulled the best had less compaction and operator ease. I love the AFS connect. We were having auto steer issues and the dealer was able to fix it from the dealership as I drove across the field.
Seems like you was able to pull just as hard and you was deeper pulling with it maybe save you from having to do the field two times? And if you don't want it you can always make a decent offer on it
The only reason both Case and JD started to go past 550/600 hp was the Big Equipment announced that Big Bud was going to Manufacture again ,Starting at 750hp.Funny how the race happened quickly. Hopefully JD have sorted out track wear issues, 1000hr,s was the best we got ,in use of Horsh Tiger, then Boargult bin/DbS bar (sowing rig) and then some fert spreading
Quite a leap from the last new tractor bought for our dairy farm in 78 or 79, a new IH 3388 2+2. I probably put 50 hours on it before the farm was sold in 1981.
Out of curiosity, how many hours of engine life should you get from a tractor, before needing an overhaul? I'm asking because one of our older tractors (2013 Landini Powerfarm 110, working in a Pineapple plantation) has about 23,000 hours and it's still running great, it's never needed any overhaul, just ordinary maintenance. I'm wondering when it will be time for an overhaul.
We have a jd 7800 I can hardy remember it coming to the farm when I was a kid back in the 90s. It has over 10k hours on it now. Still runs great, never been in half. It's showing its age though and needs to be gone over really good, but the engine is still fine. I'd say there's too many determining factors to give a hard line. I'd recommend every couple of oil changes sending a sample out to an analysis lab. We use speed diagnostix. They will be able to give you all the info you'll need to make informed decisions on the data from your equipment.
When I looked at the new tractor, you made me remember the time I commented on my Facebook, I'm not getting a new car, but I'm getting new tractors, of course! They were from where I worked, Greetings and have a good day.
Gallons of fuel per acre is where it matters. Is it any more efficient? Is going faster worth it? If you've got the horsepower, go wider rather than faster.
When your running with Def that destroys the power, it takes about 20% more power for all this emissions stuff Which is a real shame and waste of power and fuel
@@RockyMountainFarmer hmm it’s no 100% clear from the data in the video (27,3gal/h in the non-snow conditions...you remember the one from the snow condition, it’s no in the video). but when i calculate with these numbers: 5,8 vs 7 speed = +20% speed = +20% more work done 27,3gal/h vs 29,4gal/h = +7,5% fuel so if we compare area/fuel each to the other: 1aera/27,3gal vs 1,2/29,4gal = 11% better efficiency per fuel ----> initial price difference gives some where an amount of hours determines the breakeven point of the investment ----> but there is to take as well in to account wear/maintenance cost of the tractor..... ----> in general, you can also say if you could only us the higher HP tractor at lower power there is less wear question as well remains ----> there ar e un calculate abele stuff like that you can use with a faster tractor shorter time windows... ----> unknown risk are often the long term reliability with In general such calulations are complex an difficult i would guess in the end of all there with be a long period of return of investment and the risk are on your side as farmer.

Considering the peculiarities of John Deere's warranty and post-warranty service, I wouldn't even look at their equipment even if it was 1.5 times cheaper than its competitors.
No they’re not. They’re extremely helpful. You can look up any schematic, part number, how to, anything you want on there techpub page. I work on our tractors all the time. You go to case, Agco, fendt, you won’t find it unless you pay 50 bucks. Plus Deere parts are cheaper than others. A fuel filter for my 9200 is cheaper than the fuel filter on my Agco sprayer. Just because you can’t program the system doesn’t mean they’re anti consumer.
@@BGG178yes they are! Quit being a fanboy. They make junk now. They charge way to much for what you get just to pay their investors more. Roughly figuring: if a one-ton diesel duelly loaded truck is worth just say a 100 gran, then this is worth 6 duellys: so trucks are made in large production lines, whereas 9RX are few in number and take longer to manufacture; so it would seem than 600,000 is reasonable. You have great traction, virtually no slippage, and it is very quick and impressive to accelerate from 0 to 7 MPH, the cab is nice and simple and functionable, love those tracks, so it seems pretty good to me. Wonder if there is power loss in transmission? What is warranty?
I would buy it but I don't own a farm. My family and siblings still farm. @@clearskiesranch1362 The other thing that people in cities and suburbs that are completely disconnected from agriculture (but still comment on these videos) have no clue about: Parts availability long-term, and the impact to price. Try getting a part for an older machine from another brand. They drop parts WAY sooner than Deere. Yes, Deere is expensive. But they also stock parts for more machines and continue to do so for much longer than their competitors. That infrastructure costs money. It's why Deere machines hold their value longer.
what is cost of ownership. Rebuilding an engine after how many hours? Then again how much is that PTO+ Tripoint worth too? Could it run the Crossover or Harvester if needed? Having a drop in replacement might be a saver in the middle of the harvest? Not one to replace your plowhorse, but what about the others?
Our 9510 had almost 8000 hours before the engine went down. We could pull the grain drill and the grain cart but not much else other than tillage because the tracks are too wide for row crops.
It's worth saying that auction prices right now you can save a lot of money by just buying a tractor someone else put the first 500 or 1000 hours on it. 8RX's are selling at auction for 30-50% less than new with 500 hours lately.
Don’t buy the tractor. Lease it. Buying doesn’t help at all on the tax side. Depreciation and interest don’t add up enough to lower taxes. Lease it to own. You can claim the lease payment and depreciation as a write off with no increase in your net income.

Well, I wish you luck with your new machine. But having experience with vehicles equipped with aftertreatment, it's a whole different ballgame. Be prepared for costly repairs and downtime. It might not bite you immediately, but rest assured it's in your near future
If you compare torque instead of horsepower you will understand why there is not that big of a difference. For the record, ask the retail price on the turbo on that engine. That might be a deal breaker.
Do you just hold the camera really high when looking at the tractor or are you absurdly tall? I've seen some 9rxs in person and the tracks are about as tall as me, and I'm 6'5" lol. We got a new 8r last year, and I agree the seat is amazing. Love the cooled seat, or as I call it, "anti-swamp ass technology".
In Australia some of the farmers pull a whole system behind the tractor. So, plowing and seeding all together. The whole thing must be 40 ft long. They have something else in there as well. A farrow maybe, not sure.?
Great video. In my opinion todays new tractors are just unreliable super expensive Christmas trees. You would be better off refitting your older tractors the ones without Def.
Due to the Vario gearbox, Fendt do not pull as hard as power shifters do. Fendt for sure might be the best allrounder and has on the streets high comfort.
@HoubiDV then why do alot of midwesterners run them and pull 34' wishek disks, and V shank rippers, and have no problem if the transmissions are so bad? And they farm 20-30,000 acres, and cover the ground with fendt, and John deere tractors, and have no issues

The funny thing about heated/cooled seats and steering wheels and massaging seats. When you don't have them they are stupid and unnecessary. Then after you have them and see how much better you feel while using them and at the end of the day. They become a MUST HAVE.
They are nice for sure
100%
Pretty much every car i have ever owned had heated seats, but i never once used them. Would this be different in a tractor? Hard to see how. As long as you have heating in the cabin, which even 50 year old equipment has...
Can you add them to your present tractor?
They have to come up with this junk so people will actually buy this garbage, your old tractor can be modified to have any comfort you want.... 600k for a cheap message seat is comical, those things are always a gimmick.
Here I am watching the whole thing and I’m not even a farmer and I don’t have the beginning of a clue how to farm.
Well I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
Same, but now I’m in the market for a tractor 😂
We would be very very hungry without the Farmers.
Love our case quadtracks ! Our 550 quadtrack has plenty of power to pull anything on our farm . Pulls our chizzel plow, no problem . We have ripped the hitch off our landoll twice in the last couple of years .
Chris, I really enjoy the incredible aerial shots you provide. Wishing great success to the RMF family.
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it.
Well at $600,000 they must want to get rid of it. We're a couple hours south of you on the Utah Idaho border and our neighbor was just quoted 900,000 dollars for that tractor. If you want to upgrade you should definitely try the Case that is what everyone around here runs even after the Deere demos
We would love to try a case.

Yes there is always maintenance.
Your body gets stronger when you use it, but a machine gets weaker when you use it. Maintenance will always be a thing, especially on big machines pulling heavy loads. 🤗

My uncle has a large farm operation in northern Indiana and he's always been a JD guy. I was up there to visit this last T-Giving and he had just taken delivery of a Challenger MT965E.
With JD your not purchasing the equipment, your purchasing the right to operate it!! New equipment anyways.
Yep, Shout it out L O U D ! Applies to all these large Brand machines ( and autos ) ( and doesn't mr Windows not have a very large share in JD & CAT ? )
Thank you for your honest review! And that Karat is really amazing....great purchase.
The lemken equipment is amazing. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Have you ever considered running a fendt? If you ever do and are looking for high horse, I would consider a 1050 wheeled machine. Or the 1167 2 track machine. I work on them. They are amazing and everyone who has bought one loves them.
That’s why I bought the tractors ran them till motors blew up and put c-1
8 800 hp cats in them. Semi trucks have C-16. Did not do that to combines those we just lease.
We usually keep our tractors for a long time.
@@RockyMountainFarmer The oldest Tractor i have seen in more or less daily use is a Ferguson from 1949 , it is only used for transport of people and tools /Fuel to the big guys out on the fields, and as practice for the next generation, the toolset for it is simple, a big ass malles, a large screwdriver a roll of hemprope and gaffertape and a spanner. that is it.
I have a small Karat 9 in Germany, nice to see some of the equipment we use here overseas.
I can see that, thanks for sharing your experience.
This has been our experience as well.
Great video! You did an excellent job showcasing the John Deere 9RX, capturing both the excitement and the letdown of such a huge investment. The honest review and in-depth analysis really stood out, and the footage was top-notch. Even though the $600,000 didn’t deliver as expected, you provided a valuable perspective on the machine's performance. Fantastic content - looking forward to more videos like this!
Glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for the kind words!
🚜 Heated, cooled, AND massaging seats?! This tractor is comfier than my living room couch! 😂 Still not sure that justifies the $600k, though. Great review!

This comment feels silly, but I’m going to be honest, I play the game farming simulator, and I absolutely love your videos and those of other farmers because I learn so much from you all and I have all the respect. Here’s to hoping you have bountiful harvests.
That’s what we would like to try.
And if you don't want it you can always make a decent offer on it
After making the depth corrections, I’m thinking the 1st tractor should go back on for a fair test.
That’s what the snowy clip was
The only reason both Case and JD started to go past 550/600 hp was the Big Equipment announced that Big Bud was going to Manufacture again ,Starting at 750hp.Funny how the race happened quickly. Hopefully JD have sorted out track wear issues, 1000hr,s was the best we got ,in use of Horsh Tiger, then Boargult bin/DbS bar (sowing rig) and then some fert spreading
Great video - you're right, there's not enough difference in the power!
Glad you enjoyed it
Quite a leap from the last new tractor bought for our dairy farm in 78 or 79, a new IH 3388 2+2.
Ours had about 8000 hours but they were all hard tillage hours.
@ 23k hrs you have already got your moneys worth from that tractor.

Gallons of fuel per acre is where it matters. Is it any more efficient?
Is going faster worth it? If you've got the horsepower, go wider rather than faster.
It was less efficient at the same speed.
@@RockyMountainFarmer Oof! That really makes it very hard to justify the upgrade, no matter how NICE it is. ;-)
When your running with Def that destroys the power, it takes about 20% more power for all this emissions stuff
Which is a real shame and waste of power and fuel
@@RockyMountainFarmer hmm it’s no 100% clear from the data in the video (27,3gal/h in the non-snow conditions...you remember the one from the snow condition, it’s no in the video). but when i calculate with these numbers:
5,8 vs 7 speed = +20% speed = +20% more work done
27,3gal/h vs 29,4gal/h = +7,5% fuel
so if we compare area/fuel each to the other:
1aera/27,3gal vs 1,2/29,4gal = 11% better efficiency per fuel
----> initial price difference gives some where an amount of hours determines the breakeven point of the investment
----> but there is to take as well in to account wear/maintenance cost of the tractor.....
----> in general, you can also say if you could only us the higher HP tractor at lower power there is less wear question as well remains
----> there ar e un calculate abele stuff like that you can use with a faster tractor shorter time windows...
----> unknown risk are often the long term reliability with
In general such calulations are complex an difficult
i would guess in the end of all there with be a long period of return of investment and the risk are on your side as farmer.
Def has little to no effect on power. The tractors they have the 510 and the 460 don't have def but they have egr and dpf which do have more effect on power and efficiency than def systems.@thomasforbes8904

It’s been 4 years since they announced the new production of big buds and they don’t even have a working prototype

Considering the peculiarities of John Deere's warranty and post-warranty service, I wouldn't even look at their equipment even if it was 1.5 times cheaper than its competitors.
Sad how deere has become an anti consumer company
It is unfortunate.

Slaves to the tractor manufacturer for years.
It is definitely ridiculous.
I have a small farm in the Red River Valley raising wheat and soybeans. My total investment in equipment is less than $50k....all paid in cash. No equipment payment for 15 years now. I can repair everything I have myself. It's not for everyone however, I understand that.
Roughly figuring: if a one-ton diesel duelly loaded truck is worth just say a 100 gran, then this is worth 6 duellys:
so trucks are made in large production lines, whereas 9RX are few in number and take longer to manufacture;
so it would seem than 600,000 is reasonable. You have great traction, virtually no slippage, and it is very quick and impressive to accelerate from 0 to 7 MPH, the cab is nice and simple and functionable, love those tracks, so it seems pretty good to me. Wonder if there is power loss in transmission? What is warranty?
It was nice. Not sure what the warranty is I think it is usually a year.
I would buy it but I don't own a farm. My family and siblings still farm. They got rid of everything green They were tired of not being able to work on the stuff and having to pay a high amount of money just to fix John Deere. They purchase Fendt and a lot of Case equipment. That also got rid of Kubota because it was not worth the hassle.
Ha!🤣 if you think that Case IH and Fendt don’t have proprietary software I have a bridge to sell you
It sounds like your family had a good reason for switching, especially if it’s getting difficult to get things fixed.
@@clearskiesranch1362 The amount of people that harp on the right to repair issue while not realizing all the other manufacturers have the same constraints shows how little people are aware. Deere is the largest manufacturer - and the only one that most non-farm people have even heard of - so they get picked on the most on TH-cam and in the media. But the fact is that Deere agreed to right to repair changes in almost 2 years ago in January of 2023, and CaseIH/New Holland only eased their restrictions AFTER Deere did.
@@ky2auburn exactly. This whole “right to repair” argument is such a joke. I can walk into my local Deere dealership and purchase the software to work on anything green today and have been able to for the last 30 years. Total waste of time talking about it unless they start requiring a credit card swipe or a certified Deere mechanic to change the oil.

My Parents were in the custom farming business. I really like running this equipment.
It is fun
I’ve got you at 17 times saying “nice”. That’s including the intro.
what is cost of ownership.
Deere is saying that a 25 will be over a million $ a pop….fully loaded…how can you possibly justify it…?
It's worth saying that auction prices right now you can save a lot of money by just buying a tractor someone else put the first 500 or 1000 hours on it. 8RX's are selling at auction for 30-50% less than new with 500 hours lately.
$600K and all it got was a "It's comfortable." Ouch!!! 😂

Deeres tractor is called a 4 track not a quadtrac .
Everyone calls them a quad track here
Case built the first quadtracs, so everybody calls everything a quadtrac. Just like dozers. Everything is a Cat. 4WD wheel loaders. Everything is a Payloader. I've been in the equipment business, ag and construction, all my life, and that drives me nuckin futs!
Around here they are called a green quadtrac or a red quadtrac.
An 86 year old neighbor who still farms calls the red ones Farmall quadtracs.
Well, I wish you luck with your new machine. But having experience with vehicles equipped with aftertreatment, it's a whole different ballgame. Be prepared for costly repairs and downtime. It might not bite you immediately, but rest assured it's in your near future
Quad track is a case
Everyone calls these quad tracks as well
@RockyMountainFarmer well not everyone lol
If you compare torque instead of horsepower you will understand why there is not that big of a difference.
For the record, ask the retail price on the turbo on that engine. That might be a deal breaker.
Great video. Great tractor but you have one being worked on that does the job. I believe you need to stick to the one you have in the shop.
That’s our plan
When I was mining still the loader I ran was a 988 and it would eat 15-20 gallons of def in a shift and 200 gallons of fuel.
how much speed would you like to gain to justify an upgrade?
If we could get to 8 it would be nice.
How long would it take to break even on the cost of the tractor?
Do you just hold the camera really high when looking at the tractor or are you absurdly tall? I've seen some 9rxs in person and the tracks are about as tall as me, and I'm 6'5" lol.
We got a new 8r last year, and I agree the seat is amazing. Love the cooled seat, or as I call it, "anti-swamp ass technology".
I am 6’5” I usually hold if fairly close to my head since I don’t usually have a mic. Those seats are awesome.
Since the whole Def scam started, the old tractors have gone up in price and are sometimes even hard to find.
If you want a new tractor, you should try a fendt vario tracked tractor, more low rpm torque, good support, and you already have the fendt combine 😎
@@Jrs-tl4kk The transmission is not bad. But for straight pulling other tractors are better
@@HoubiDV to each their own, no tractor is perfect, but they use them heavily in the Midwest, and also heavily in Saskatchewan Canada to farm thousands of acres as well, so they can't be too bad
