i’ve had ceramic braces for 10 months now and they’re honestly amazing. my ligatures don’t get stained easily and my braces don’t break either. (i broke two once because i was eating ice, so that was on me. not on the brackets) mine are completly clear and i honestly love them! i’m so happy i got them instead of the metal ones. Update: Hello! Today it’s currently July 6th, 2020. I’m getting my braces off this 21st and I personally really liked my experience. For some reason, the brackets I broke during the process where mostly my back metal brackets! They don’t break easily, I’m sure of that. Clear braces don’t stain, at all. What stains is the ligatures (depending on what you eat) and that’s okay because you get them changed every appointment. At the end of my treatment I went a little bold and I started using coloured ligatures and it was very fun! My favourite colours ended up being baby blue, baby pink and lilac, they made my teeth look whiter and they never stained!
The best decision I made was to switch from ceramic braces to metal braces! They always stained so fast and harder to clean and so big! They covered most of my teeth.

when i had braces i got the metal braces and always got silver bands. it got to the point i forgot i had them (aside from the pain) -- it wasnt a defining part of my personality/character. people forgot i had them. i had them longer bc i didnt wear my rubber bands all the time in middle school. but eventually i just put them in and left them there, and replaced them only when they snapped. things moved quickly after that. my one friend had clear braces -- they stained so much. especially when he ate cheezits ... i think if you are worried abt braces being noticeable, do what i did- get the classic silver braces, and only ever have silver bands. im so glad i didnt get ceramic braces. they would have looked much worse. aesthetically; its like how i only wear pearl earrings -- its classic, its more resigned + refined. it goes with everything. you will get through it. i cried when i heard i had to get braces, but believe me, it is worth it. and a privilege not everyone has. stick with it when you are young and your adult self will thank you greatly.
loser lina eating certain foods. Ramen Noodles, mustard, butter grits all stain them, well just the bands so I stay away until the week of my appointment lol
Hi can i know if clear braces cause irritation to the inside of your lips? I've seen many people with metal braces get sores in their mouth.. And I'm prone to cranker sores.. So i want to know if clear ones cause any sores inside the mouth and my teeth needs braces 😅
I have ceramic and people always say they get yellow and stuff like that but really it comes down to how u take care of ur teeth. If u brush once and eat colored foods well yea they do turn yellow but if u eat non saucy foods and brush 2 or 3 times ur good!

@@gotemcoach2346 I had to have 2 teeth removed on the bottom due to sever overcrowding resulting in an anterior crossbite. Didn't like that news but I did it anyway. I'm now 6 months in.
I have metal braces on upper and lower. The aesthetic aspect doesn’t bother me at all. If you have clear braces people will still know you have them so why try to mask it. I like to drink coffee and the occasional glass of wine so I don’t have to worry about staining. I just brush my teeth afterwards. Overall I am very happy with my decision to stick with metal.
I am getting jaw surgery and 8 months into my treatment I found out that the surgeon prefers metal brackets. I got clear on top and metal on bottom. Both the orthodontist and surgeon reassured me that it will be fine and that if I got metal brackets on top I would have to wait another 6 months to a year for adjustments. Make sure both doctors are in proper communication to avoid misunderstanding.
@@LotusBookWorm I had a bad cross bite, the braces are required for proper alignment during surgery. Thankfully the Dr I worked with left me with no pain and minimal sensitivity. However, at times it feels my upper jaw feels a bit unstable since I had to get it operated on twice. The Dr thought I may have a non-union. It feels like it may be gradually improving but I will not risk another surgery unless it gets worse. He thought I might have been clenching too much. I recently got my braces off and am in retainers eating full solids.
@@LotusBookWorm It has changed a lot and for the better. My face is not as long on one side and my bottom lip is not sticking out under the top one as far as it was. My surgeon also gave me a chin modification and cheek implants which also contributed to more dramatic results. The cheek implants were needed to fill my face out as my mouth was being moved forward to avoid a "chimpanzee" appearance. I recommend watching my videos "In Another Time" and one of my recent book videos on my main channel as it will show my face before and after the surgery about a year apart.
its me you only NEED them when your braces from the top row are hitting the bottom row and you can feel it. This causes pain and can knock some brackets off. If your bite is off then it’s up to your orthodontist to give you bite blockers or not. After a week or 2 you get used to them.
I wish you would have made this video 6 months ago when I made my decision on getting ceramic braces! The only pro that I can see on them is that they are more aesthetic in a certain manner. I don't recommend them to anyone! lol

Honestly clear brackets were the saving grace for my super self-conscious Highschooler arse. Invisalign wasn’t an option, and I had to have upper and lower braces, and I was in my last year of high school, meaning I was going to be graduating with the braces and starting Uni with braces. In the grand scheme of things it wasn’t a big deal, but for my high school self it was a big deal, so being able to have clear braces was a blessing in the middle of an unavoidable situation 🤍

Great video! I have been wearing my braces for about 2 months now. When I was given the choice of ceramic braces and told there was truly no difference I still decided to go with metal (because they were a couple hundred bucks cheaper & I did not care for the aesthetic that the ceramic braces offered). Overall after watching your video, I am happy I did choose the metal braces.
Great explanation. Thankyouu Dr. Greg By the way, I don't use those type of bracket. Now I use whats-called sapphiere braces. The colour is not white but transparent. And the size is bigger than metal bracket but less boggy than clear bracket.

@@cherryrose5514 I was scared they would be noticable but I got used to them and a lot of people told me they look good on me. I have fun with the colors of the bands too. This month I chose pink and so far it's my favourite!! I was going to go for invisiline but I am glad I have good old metal braces now. I saw the ceramic ones of many people and I still prefer metal brackets because they stain less and they are less likely to break. They are also a lot less bulky than clear ones.
@@cherryrose5514 lol. No I can talk just fine with no lisp. When I first got them on, my speech was a bit off but a week later my mouth just got used to it. And they feel very normal once you get used to them.
I have clear braces and the wire is also white so it’s all good and sure it stains from time to time but since the rubber bands get switched every appointment it gets back to brand new
I just got ceramics on today. TWICE since my appointment at 11AM, I've had brackets pop off due to poor bonding. I'm soo annoyed. I live far away from my dentist.... So frustrating. But I'm happy with my choice regarding the looks of the ceramics vs metal.

I have a question not really about ceramic braces but regarding something else... so I have very impacted canines that face one another high up in my gums on the top of my mouth... my dr suggests I get them removed surgically as well as get my bottom canines taken out and he wants to replace my four canines with my first pre molars.. do you think that’s a good idea? Have you done this before on a patient? Are the end results still aesthetically pleasing?
Thanks for the comparison. Wish Id know this my first yime with braces. My ceramic brackets broke, they stained, they were much bigger eith sharp edges that cut my cheeks, and worst of all they broke off a piece of one yooth when being removed. The ortho that corrected my deep bite slanted my front teeth back to compensate for the overjet and now years later I have braces again (metal this time) to move my top teeth out so I wont break my bottom teeth as before. Living and learning
So I got my lower braces May 23rd. It took an hour to put them on. They didn't put brackets on my canines because of my situation. My teeth started to get sore not even 2 hours in. I ate normally until night. I had to eat soup because of the pain. The pain isn't what people describe it. For me the pain was bearable unlike my spacers. My teeth were really sore for 3 days and I had to eat soft foods and slowly. But the brackets with hooks were a pain in the butt and they still are but not that bad. Stock up on wax and oragel I would recommend. I'm getting my upper braces and 1st tighting done the 25th. A day after my brother's birthday (Yay, I can eat cake and carne asada comfortably) But braces have taught me how really important oral hygiene is. The only things I don't like is when my cheeks and tongue get caught on the brackets/wires.

My dentist has clear wires that she’s going to use with the clear braces when I get them on in 2 weeks , is there much difference in the clear wires than the normal metal ones ? I am having mine done tomorrow . Clear , ceramic self ligating braces , both upper and lower. That will be £5500 please, I am in the UK, should I have gone for the metal ones? I understand the wire can be a clear one now as opposed toa metal one making it more discrete? I am worried about staining although my dentist said that should never happen , and if it does it is down to poor /irregular brushing?
i have ceramics on my top row of teeth and metal wire that runs through it. Tbh people can still see if if theyre talking to u right in front of you but i like how no one can tell in pictures. Like for school pictures or taking selfies with ur friends, its basically invisible from that distance. (mine never fractured or broke before, and i eat many hard foods too, although eating hard foods has caused them to fall off...which has happened to metal ones mainly)

I regret getting ceramic braces. Why? -They come off easily (First month wearing them and about 6 of the brackets have come off already.) -They are $500 more than the metal ones. -They charge me $35 for each bracket that pops off, where as for the metal they said are like $10. Like I said, it's only been month 1 out of 18, so on top of the extra $500 I'm paying for wanting ceramics over metal, I will be paying MORE for the next brackets I'm sure will pop off for no reason. -They ARE bulkier. I look like I have a mouth full of food! I look awful.. -More trips to the dentist office because they come off and I need to get new ones glued on. I highly advise to just get metal. I got ceramic because I'm 24 years old, slightly embarrassed to be wearing braces at this age. I'm also a broke college student, so I wish I had just gotten metal!
Hi! I am now wearing clear braces for 10 months. One of the brackets falls off just once. I think it depends on how they are being attached. They are bulky and make me look like a homo erectus 😂😂🤣, but it is fine for the good result I guess?? Jahaha. I used to be offended by the people staring at me and saying I have a big mouth haha. Im a broke college student and I went with metal. I wanted ceramic but once they told me it was gonna be more expensive and it could increase my time to wear it causr they break more easily i changed my mind. Why pay more for something that does a knowingly worse job? 🤣

Are ceramic braces ok on my bottom teeth if I have bridges on the top teeth? I am afraid I am going to wear down or chip my bridges with the bulkiness of the ceramic braces on the bottom. Hello, I like your videos. I have just been informed I am gonna need braces because my crossbite is giving me a lot of trouble. What I'm concerned about is - I have CAD CAM crowns on my top two front teeth, is it safe to put braces on them? I have had them for 6 years, but I still live in fear that they might chip, break, or fall out(?!), or something crazy like that. One has some kind of line across, like it's cracked (I think I hit myself once with a cup while drinking tea). The doctor that did them said it was nothing, but it's definitely something. So yeah, I am just looking for some extra opinions on whether that's gonna be in the way of getting braces

Hi, the wire on my braces is not trimmed short and it pokes on my cheeks that cause discomfort. Should I tell my orthodontist to cut it short? Or is it on purpose for future applications?
do you have a video of why braces have those different colored dots on them i have like 5 different colored dots on them and also when do most people get elastics because i have hooks in my brackets but they said i have a good bite?
I also have hooks on my brackets (on the back teeth) and my ortho has always said my bite looks good. So far they’ve only used my hooks to attach a power chain instead of wrapping the power chain around the whole bracket. So maybe that’s what they’ll use your hooks for as well. Also your bite could be a little off towards the end of your treatment so those hooks could be put to use with elastics then.
Be patient - in the initial few months, the teeth are leveling and aligning and sometimes there will be overlaps that will eventually disappear. Check out my video on NiTi wires to learn more about what I mean!
Call your orthodontist. As your teeth move and adjust your wire may stick out and poke into your cheek. They can clip it a little shorter so it won't be so uncomfortable.

@@vii.eieieii personally my braces did not make my mouth look bulky at all, it takes some adjusting (obv) especially with bringing your top lip over your braces, but generally its not visible!! also the metal ones and clear ones are pretty much the same just look different, either way you'll have the same experience with the clear or metal :) hope this helped!
how faster are the metal braces if we come to compare it to the ceramic one... for ex: if a treatment needs 6 month in metal braces.. how long does it in ceramic one ?
my braces is so different! I have braces with lids that hold the string in place on the teeth and not knit. when you change the string, the jaw orthopedic opens all the blocks with a similar metal stick so that all the blocks are open, instead of spending longer on putting on and off knits, and something like that.. when the string is in place and sits in the the last two bricks on the end, then just use his finger to push the lid back in place. the lids stay firmly in place and do not go out if you have something to jerk them out with .. the lids are so good that the jaw dentist sometimes struggles to get them up .. with those bricks he only takes about 8 minutes to change one strict .. quite complicated and smart😉 upgrade to such blocks I use😁 much better! Sorry for my bad english.. i’m norwegian..
So I have an underbite and have only gone to one orthodontist appointment, all I got done was xrays and impressions. I have another appointment in a few months. What do you think they will do I don’t think I need an expander but I don’t know.

my one friend had clear braces -- they stained so much. especially when he ate cheezits ... i think if you are worried abt braces being noticeable, do what i did- get the classic silver braces, and only ever have silver bands. im so glad i didnt get ceramic braces. they would have looked much worse. aesthetically; its like how i only wear pearl earrings -- its classic, its more resigned + refined. it goes with everything. you will get through it. i cried when i heard i had to get braces, but believe me, it is worth it. and a privilege not everyone has. stick with it when you are young and your adult self will thank you greatly.
I’ve had clear braces for about 15 months and eat everything I shouldn’t and haven’t had a problem lol.

loser lina eating certain foods. Ramen Noodles, mustard, butter grits all stain them, well just the bands so I stay away until the week of my appointment lol
Hi can i know if clear braces cause irritation to the inside of your lips? I've seen many people with metal braces get sores in their mouth.. And I'm prone to cranker sores.. So i want to know if clear ones cause any sores inside the mouth and my teeth needs braces 😅
vivi bird hey boo, yes they can brush up against your lips. You can put wax over the bracket(s) that is causing the irritation and it’ll stop.
I had clear braces for 2 years on all my teeth and I never got stains and they are the same as metal because I also had metal braces for 1 year
I have ceramic and people always say they get yellow and stuff like that but really it comes down to how u take care of ur teeth. If u brush once and eat colored foods well yea they do turn yellow but if u eat non saucy foods and brush 2 or 3 times ur good!
It also depends on a price. My Orto said if you pick cheap ones then can break

@@apollo5458 not at all. Just a little hard to get adjusted to at first, the metal braces are more effective to move teeth. I've had mine on for about 3 months now. And can't believe the difference already! Just floss every day.😊

I’m getting my braces on next month. There was only a few hundred dollar difference but the consultant told me if you drink tea or coffee, ceramic will turn yellow. I was also concerned about durability so I went with metal.

I have metal braces on upper and lower. The aesthetic aspect doesn’t bother me at all. If you have clear braces people will still know you have them so why try to mask it. I like to drink coffee and the occasional glass of wine so I don’t have to worry about staining. I just brush my teeth afterwards. Overall I am very happy with my decision to stick with metal.
From my experience with both, metal braces straighten the teeth better than ceramics. At least it was like that for my teeth 🤷🏽♀️
I am getting jaw surgery and 8 months into my treatment I found out that the surgeon prefers metal brackets. I got clear on top and metal on bottom. Both the orthodontist and surgeon reassured me that it will be fine and that if I got metal brackets on top I would have to wait another 6 months to a year for adjustments. Make sure both doctors are in proper communication to avoid misunderstanding.
I know its been a year but hows it going? Why are you getting braces and jaw surgery?
@@LotusBookWorm I had a bad cross bite, the braces are required for proper alignment during surgery. Thankfully the Dr I worked with left me with no pain and minimal sensitivity. However, at times it feels my upper jaw feels a bit unstable since I had to get it operated on twice. The Dr thought I may have a non-union. It feels like it may be gradually improving but I will not risk another surgery unless it gets worse. He thought I might have been clenching too much. I recently got my braces off and am in retainers eating full solids.

@@LotusBookWorm It has changed a lot and for the better. My face is not as long on one side and my bottom lip is not sticking out under the top one as far as it was. My surgeon also gave me a chin modification and cheek implants which also contributed to more dramatic results. The cheek implants were needed to fill my face out as my mouth was being moved forward to avoid a "chimpanzee" appearance. I recommend watching my videos "In Another Time" and one of my recent book videos on my main channel as it will show my face before and after the surgery about a year apart.

I just got build ups/bite blockers and I can’t eat or smile right🤦🏽♀️plus I got he bottom row now and I’m in pain😬
My top row covers my bottom row when i smile...will i need the bite blockers or is it just for bites that are extreme?
its me you only NEED them when your braces from the top row are hitting the bottom row and you can feel it. This causes pain and can knock some brackets off. If your bite is off then it’s up to your orthodontist to give you bite blockers or not. After a week or 2 you get used to them.
I wish you would have made this video 6 months ago when I made my decision on getting ceramic braces! The only pro that I can see on them is that they are more aesthetic in a certain manner. I don't recommend them to anyone! lol

Honestly clear brackets were the saving grace for my super self-conscious Highschooler arse. Invisalign wasn’t an option, and I had to have upper and lower braces, and I was in my last year of high school, meaning I was going to be graduating with the braces and starting Uni with braces. In the grand scheme of things it wasn’t a big deal, but for my high school self it was a big deal, so being able to have clear braces was a blessing in the middle of an unavoidable situation 🤍
Im in my last year of Uni and will soon be going into job interviews with braces on. Clear braces are definitely a blessing!

Great video! I have been wearing my braces for about 2 months now. When I was given the choice of ceramic braces and told there was truly no difference I still decided to go with metal (because they were a couple hundred bucks cheaper & I did not care for the aesthetic that the ceramic braces offered). Overall after watching your video, I am happy I did choose the metal braces.

By the way, I don't use those type of bracket. Now I use whats-called sapphiere braces. The colour is not white but transparent. And the size is bigger than metal bracket but less boggy than clear bracket.

@@cherryrose5514 I was scared they would be noticable but I got used to them and a lot of people told me they look good on me. I have fun with the colors of the bands too. This month I chose pink and so far it's my favourite!! I was going to go for invisiline but I am glad I have good old metal braces now. I saw the ceramic ones of many people and I still prefer metal brackets because they stain less and they are less likely to break. They are also a lot less bulky than clear ones.

@@cherryrose5514 lol. No I can talk just fine with no lisp. When I first got them on, my speech was a bit off but a week later my mouth just got used to it. And they feel very normal once you get used to them.

I have clear braces and the wire is also white so it’s all good and sure it stains from time to time but since the rubber bands get switched every appointment it gets back to brand new
I just got ceramics on today. TWICE since my appointment at 11AM, I've had brackets pop off due to poor bonding. I'm soo annoyed. I live far away from my dentist.... So frustrating. But I'm happy with my choice regarding the looks of the ceramics vs metal.

I have a question not really about ceramic braces but regarding something else... so I have very impacted canines that face one another high up in my gums on the top of my mouth... my dr suggests I get them removed surgically as well as get my bottom canines taken out and he wants to replace my four canines with my first pre molars.. do you think that’s a good idea? Have you done this before on a patient? Are the end results still aesthetically pleasing?

Thanks for the comparison. Wish Id know this my first yime with braces. My ceramic brackets broke, they stained, they were much bigger eith sharp edges that cut my cheeks, and worst of all they broke off a piece of one yooth when being removed. The ortho that corrected my deep bite slanted my front teeth back to compensate for the overjet and now years later I have braces again (metal this time) to move my top teeth out so I wont break my bottom teeth as before. Living and learning

So I got my lower braces May 23rd. It took an hour to put them on. They didn't put brackets on my canines because of my situation. My teeth started to get sore not even 2 hours in. I ate normally until night. I had to eat soup because of the pain. The pain isn't what people describe it. For me the pain was bearable unlike my spacers. My teeth were really sore for 3 days and I had to eat soft foods and slowly. But the brackets with hooks were a pain in the butt and they still are but not that bad. Stock up on wax and oragel I would recommend. I'm getting my upper braces and 1st tighting done the 25th. A day after my brother's birthday (Yay, I can eat cake and carne asada comfortably) But braces have taught me how really important oral hygiene is. The only things I don't like is when my cheeks and tongue get caught on the brackets/wires.
I paid an extra $800 for the clear ones. How come the clear ones are $800?

From what I heard, you get a retainer. You can choose from plastic to the metal wires.

I am having mine done tomorrow . Clear , ceramic self ligating braces , both upper and lower. That will be £5500 please, I am in the UK, should I have gone for the metal ones? I understand the wire can be a clear one now as opposed toa metal one making it more discrete? I am worried about staining although my dentist said that should never happen , and if it does it is down to poor /irregular brushing?

i have ceramics on my top row of teeth and metal wire that runs through it. Tbh people can still see if if theyre talking to u right in front of you but i like how no one can tell in pictures. Like for school pictures or taking selfies with ur friends, its basically invisible from that distance. (mine never fractured or broke before, and i eat many hard foods too, although eating hard foods has caused them to fall off...which has happened to metal ones mainly)

I regret getting ceramic braces. Why?
-They come off easily (First month wearing them and about 6 of the brackets have come off already.)
-They are $500 more than the metal ones.
-They charge me $35 for each bracket that pops off, where as for the metal they said are like $10. Like I said, it's only been month 1 out of 18, so on top of the extra $500 I'm paying for wanting ceramics over metal, I will be paying MORE for the next brackets I'm sure will pop off for no reason.
-They ARE bulkier. I look like I have a mouth full of food! I look awful..
-More trips to the dentist office because they come off and I need to get new ones glued on.
I highly advise to just get metal. I got ceramic because I'm 24 years old, slightly embarrassed to be wearing braces at this age. I'm also a broke college student, so I wish I had just gotten metal!

Hi! I am now wearing clear braces for 10 months. One of the brackets falls off just once. I think it depends on how they are being attached. They are bulky and make me look like a homo erectus 😂😂🤣, but it is fine for the good result I guess?? Jahaha.

Im a broke college student and I went with metal. I wanted ceramic but once they told me it was gonna be more expensive and it could increase my time to wear it causr they break more easily i changed my mind. Why pay more for something that does a knowingly worse job? 🤣

Are ceramic braces ok on my bottom teeth if I have bridges on the top teeth? I am afraid I am going to wear down or chip my bridges with the bulkiness of the ceramic braces on the bottom. Hello, I like your videos. I have just been informed I am gonna need braces because my crossbite is giving me a lot of trouble. What I'm concerned about is - I have CAD CAM crowns on my top two front teeth, is it safe to put braces on them? I have had them for 6 years, but I still live in fear that they might chip, break, or fall out(?!), or something crazy like that. One has some kind of line across, like it's cracked (I think I hit myself once with a cup while drinking tea). The doctor that did them said it was nothing, but it's definitely something. So yeah, I am just looking for some extra opinions on whether that's gonna be in the way of getting braces

I have ceramic braces on whole teeth. It's been two months and twice the brackets chipped . Kindly suggest how to avoid the chipping as I paid extra amounts to replace the new brackets again and again.

Hi, the wire on my braces is not trimmed short and it pokes on my cheeks that cause discomfort. Should I tell my orthodontist to cut it short? Or is it on purpose for future applications?
do you have a video of why braces have those different colored dots on them i have like 5 different colored dots on them and also when do most people get elastics because i have hooks in my brackets but they said i have a good bite?
RedDay colors are just to help them put the bracket on the right side of the mouth everyone has hooks doesn’t mean you’ll have bands
I also have hooks on my brackets (on the back teeth) and my ortho has always said my bite looks good. So far they’ve only used my hooks to attach a power chain instead of wrapping the power chain around the whole bracket. So maybe that’s what they’ll use your hooks for as well. Also your bite could be a little off towards the end of your treatment so those hooks could be put to use with elastics then.
I had my braces put on 3weeks ago and already had a wire change, after the wire change I had overlapping that wasn’t there prior. Is this normal?
Be patient - in the initial few months, the teeth are leveling and aligning and sometimes there will be overlaps that will eventually disappear. Check out my video on NiTi wires to learn more about what I mean!

Hey doc, is it normal to have my braces wire poke out from my last bracket (protruding wire)? I have had my braces for a week now.
Call your orthodontist. As your teeth move and adjust your wire may stick out and poke into your cheek. They can clip it a little shorter so it won't be so uncomfortable.
What happens on your first ortho appointment? I have one coming up and i have no idea on what to expect. What is the process before braces?

@@vii.eieieii personally my braces did not make my mouth look bulky at all, it takes some adjusting (obv) especially with bringing your top lip over your braces, but generally its not visible!! also the metal ones and clear ones are pretty much the same just look different, either way you'll have the same experience with the clear or metal :) hope this helped!

how faster are the metal braces if we come to compare it to the ceramic one... for ex: if a treatment needs 6 month in metal braces.. how long does it in ceramic one ?
my braces is so different! I have braces with lids that hold the string in place on the teeth and not knit. when you change the string, the jaw orthopedic opens all the blocks with a similar metal stick so that all the blocks are open, instead of spending longer on putting on and off knits, and something like that.. when the string is in place and sits in the the last two bricks on the end, then just use his finger to push the lid back in place. the lids stay firmly in place and do not go out if you have something to jerk them out with .. the lids are so good that the jaw dentist sometimes struggles to get them up .. with those bricks he only takes about 8 minutes to change one strict .. quite complicated and smart😉 upgrade to such blocks I use😁 much better!
