Jeep Trail VS 2020 Ford Super Duty on Broken Arrow Trail Off Road!

  • Can a 2020 Ford Super Duty rock crawl??
    We decided to try it out on a Jeep Trail in Sedona, Arizona called Broken Arrow! The local "Pink Jeep" tours give rides up the trail to enjoy the rocks and scenery.
    This is the perfect trail to test the locking differentials, suspension and see what the truck is capable of. I've driven off road trails for nearly 20 years. But never in a Full Size truck. So this was a very different experience...
    Would you attempt this trail?

    Nice video! I'll take a look at some other vids but I'm curious about the tire size, lockers installed and gas mileage after mods as it looks like you've got a gas motor? 6.2 or 7.3? I've got a 2016 f 250 gasser that I use off road and am definitely considering traction aids in the diffs. and larger tires. Also wondering about the rocker gaurds. I've had a hard time finding anything beyond a step for the Ford full-size.

      Your MPG’s are very impressive given the set up. I’ve got the 3.73 and my tires are only about a 1/2” taller than stock and I get 12.5-12.8 on the highway unloaded.
      Thanks again.

  • @austinpenny8224

    I've got a 16 F350 platinum with the 6.7 diesel. It's lifted 4" on 35s. Mine came stock with electronic rear lockers and the front is auto/manual lock. I wonder if it would be worth getting the ox locker for the front?

    • @TruckCamper
      @TruckCamper  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on terrain you drive. Your front differential is open... meaning power will go to the tire with the least traction (not helpful). OX locker can be engaged same as the rear factory locker giving both tires equal power. We love the ability to turn all tires it helps give control on technical terrain (see some of our other videos)

  • @dickvanleeuwen4437
    @dickvanleeuwen4437 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Nice! We live in Europe and hopefully get our hands on our Tremor 7.3 gas within a month. Wondered how off-road capable it actually is but this is a good example. Did you install an aftermarket front locker?

    • @TruckCamper
      @TruckCamper  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, It has an OX air locker in the front. We only used the rear locker on one climb. Used the front mostly (for testing). It climbed several with open diffs. Tremor has front limited slip which is helpful but does require some wheel slip to engage.

    You don’t need the front locker engaged on everything, I would only turn it on when needed, unless you enjoy replacing parts often

    • @TruckCamper
      @TruckCamper  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Very true. But we were testing it. Increased the air pressure to the locker and making sure it would stay engaged. It's not a bad idea to run open until traction is lost. However, there are many situations where traction loss could result in stuck or damage... so really case by case. Thanks for sharing!

    Well I know how that trail is because I did it in my Land Rover discovery 2 and it felt big. This truck must have felt huge too lol. I have a 2017 f250 crew cab long bed and they’re big.

    • @TruckCamper
      @TruckCamper  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's great! It definitely takes some adjustment to driving a big truck. I do prefer smaller off road rigs for trails but it's a great challenge. We had a 2019 F250 Crew Cab and replaced it with this extended cab. Massively easier to drive, park and maneuver. 12" shorter wheelbase is very helpful. :)
