Story Summary :-
Laura and her husband Mac got married young and had two kids. Laura faced challenges from her superstitious mother-in-law Brenda, who believed in strange rituals. Brenda's interference led to conflicts and legal battles.
Mac lost his job, and Brenda accused Laura of causing misfortune. Mac's health declined, and he passed away, leaving Laura struggling as a single parent. Brenda continued her disruptive behavior, taking Laura to court and making false accusations. Laura worked abroad as a midwife, hoping to provide a better life for her kids.
When she returned, Brenda had taken Laura's daughter Tory and put her up for adoption. Laura fought to find Tory and discovered Brenda's involvement in a shocking plot with a fraudulent priest and Steve, her boyfriend. The court sentenced Brenda, Steve, and the priest for their crimes, bringing an end to Laura's long struggle.

OP should have got a restraining order after the attempted criminal charges. After that everything was OP's fault. OP volunteered for this abuse.
Op should be criminally charged too. She knew that woman was evil and leftbherbkids with them for months.
If the story is true, OP made a big mistake when she trusted her extremely superstitious MIL. I get it that decent people have difficulties to imagine that people they know might have a hidden agenda and be just evil. It's just too far away from their own mindset. But it's good that everything turned out well in the end. That she still pitied this woman for her unpleasant death is mind-boggling. Anybody who would have done this to me and my kids would be dead for me and there's no way I'd ever feel sorry for them. OP seems to be a much better person than I am.
I thought that OP was grossly exaggerating what she went through. That was until she said that part of the country. Stories like this and worse are all to common in the small towns that dot the Appalachia Mountains and the Ozarks. Quality of life is worse there than poor neighborhoods in large cities. Because of the difference between demographic and voting tendencies between urban and rural areas, urban areas at least get some government help. Rural areas are ignored and theirs problems are swept under the rug.

I'm from Germany (you might have realized that I'm not a native speaker) and, while we have our fair share of conspiracy theorists and other mad people, this sort of craziness doesn't exist here (to my knowledge).

OP is extremely blessed to be able to have found her daughter again. She had no business being that naïve. After all, the mother-in-law has shown her true colors, the whole time during her marriage to her supposed son, and toward her daughter.

I'm glad that the mil, and the so called priest and Fred all got what was coming to them, OP should have known better than to leave her children with that crazy woman in the first place. So, in a way she's partially to blame as well. You do not ever leave your children with someone you do not have 100% faith in. If she had no one to take care of them, then she should have passed on the opportunity to go.

These stories are hard to find as true , they don’t make sense. Brenda takes every chance to screw you and take your son but not the daughter because she is a curse. Op failed as a mother and kept Brenda around and then takes off on some missionary bs. Your priority is your kids and keeping them away from toxic people and she failed in every aspect. All these stories have a common theme. The people are super ignorant and have no back bones they deserve what they get
Stop trying to find out about how "real" or "fake" the stories are and pay attention to what the story is about. Stories like this are *warnings* and *lessons* especially on what NOT to do.

Wow, that mil is beyond psycho!! To go that far in planning and and even willing to sell a child into that vile industry just so she can be rid of what she believed was a bad omen. She's going to wonder why she's burning in hell when the time comes. And talk about being a coward. Is this story real??? It was like reading a Greek tragedy. Why would OP abandon her kids to an evil woman and go to another country??? She had no idea what was going on with her kids. OP is not the most stable person, and not a good mother, perhaps on the same level as Brenda. I mean, Brenda is mentally ill, that is obvious, but to leave your children with her, after everything and go half a world away for work? I was feeling sad for op and her kids. However, I lost a little respect for her after she said she treated her MIL with respect when she passes. Through my eyes (as someone hurt by their parent to the point of cutting contact) this was a disrespect towards the daughter. She was taken, going to be sold, used in unspeakable horrors, and all because of her Grandmother WHO HATED HER! Yet, she wants to show her respect because of her death. No, Just No on so many levels.
