    I'm glad everyone is getting so into this discussion. To clear up a few points for everyone: We chose the M2 with the DCT because with that option they come in at the same price here in Canada. The manual M2 is a big chunk cheaper, and then it would have lost and people would have called us out for it being unfair. Next, the reason the M2 won on the track was simply because of this type of track. Very twisty, very tight, lots of sharp corners. The wheelbase and size of the Mustang simply won't allow it to get through the tight stuff as well. On a bigger faster track the mustang would have had it for sure. Many have said that Colin looks like he's driving slowly and short shifting. I can assure you he is driving the tires off those two cars. He is just a very very smooth driver so it doesn't look very dramatic. He knows what he is doing though. He has many, many Autocross, Time Attack, and Karting victories to his name. Next, many have challenged the fact that I said the BMW is more refined and the Mustang is "cheap" feeling. Sadly thats the truth. The build quality of the M2 is far superior. Lastly, because this got such a good response, we are currently trying to put together the bigger brothers. The GT350R and the M4. Let me know what else you want to see! Thanks for watching.

      I think on a different track the gt350 would be at least a few seconds faster than the M2 considering the gt350R is quicker than the m4 gts. Did this mustang have the track pack? What shape were the tires in? Was the driving consuming large amounts of gold medicine earlier in the day? Honestly I love the M2 but since bmw abandoned na racing engines and ford had the balls to build the voodoo and put it in a track ready mustang, they get my vote.

    Two VERY different realms here. I love it. The M cars are always sleek and unsuspecting. You see them on the road and your first thoughts are "That looks a bit meaner than a normal bimmer. What's with those sharp mirrors? Can I take this thing??" But when you see a GT350 out on the road you are immediately intimidated by it. The snake emblem is obvious, it sits low and when you hear that voodoo gurgle past you your brain says "I definitely cannot take this thing." Both cars are dangerous and will smoke you if you're not ready but the energy they give off is worlds apart. Great comparison!

      Yes, comments are full of people who can't afford either. When it comes down to spending 50K+ people decide based on their brand preference, the deal they are getting, the example of the car being shown and the test drive. Nobody buys one over the other because of a 1.2s difference on a track test on youtube. At the end of the day buying a sports car is an emotional decision when it comes to it. A lot of thinking may happen before but nobody could ever spend their hard earned cash for a car their heart is not in, numbers don't come into it, it's how the numbers feel like.

    Currently I own a F10 M5 and a week ago I bought a GT350. It’s hard to make choices between these two cars as they are so different. After driving the GT350 for a week I think it is a very well built vehicle with massive raw power and tremendous sound. I normally don’t attract any attention when I drive M5, but a lot when I am in the GT350. It is just an awesome car.

    The sixth gen Mustang is actually extraordinarily comfortable. I'm a BMW enthusiast with a 540i and the new Mustang, and I can say that Ford has produced a veritable contender with this vehicle, in performance, comfort and features. I've personally driven the new Mustang across the entire United States on a single trip, and there is nothing about the interior which merits a single complaint. Of course, my BMW has some finer touches, but the comforts of both are simply premium. All talk beyond that is superfluous and merely hot air to fill the void.

      What is it with these german car guys about refinement and plastic? I have been in plenty of these cars and believe it or not; all cars have a lot of plastic. I don't get it why American cars are the only one's that are publicly disgraced with this material. Honestly it makes their arguments hollow.

    • @No-vm7go
      @No-vm7go 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It's the finish of the plastic that is the sticking point. BMW makes plastic with highly refined finishes that makes it look like wood, carbon fiber, stainless steel, etc, and they also use other materials liberally such as alcantara and leather. Meanwhile, when American manufacturers use plastic, they don't go to any significant lengths to disguise it as anything other than cheap-looking and cheap-feeling plastic.
      That's why American manufacturers get rakes over the coals over plastic. Because it's clearly PLASTIC which screams 'CHEAP', even to the untrained eye. It's lack of attention to detail = low quality, but in the case of the Mustangs, Ford tries to make up for it by putting their attention on their version of 'performance' of the vehicle. When everything comes out in the wash, these two cars are like day and night. You really can't compare them because they are so different going all the way back to the design stage.

      bmw is just garbage car, any other german cars will do, except bmw, audi are amazing, mercedes benz a whole lot of features to be amazing, but Bmw, sorry to say, its for people doesnt know shit about cars, expecially m4. Ok, how about i say it in another way, people that buys M4 does not know shit about cars, they dont care anything else, all they cares is about the car, thats why they would buy it.

    *CTS-V vs. M2 & M3*. I heard short shifting. My Camaro SS revs high so I can tell the higher rev Mustang wasn't working very hard for that engine.

      the M2 is similar to the M1. The M3 is the bigger brother.

    For me, you're one out of three TH-cam car reviewers that go far and beyond with what they/you do. I'm totally loving the way of you presenting and reviewing the cars of your choice. Mostly put in a little story...great.
    And then you actually put the vehicles on track and giving them throttle.
    Even being a German though, I'd always take the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350(R) over any BMW. Because it's pure, straight high reving V8 power wonderfully balanced coming with a price tag that should be putting a smile on every car enthusiast's face.

      I seems you're so unlucky to have not experienced the sound of the engine he's referring to. So, you have a GT350? Cause I don't but have heard only two in real life. Sounds loud and grunty but it's very different than a BMW inline. I wouldn't call it better, just louder. I've heard plenty of pushrod V8's that sound excellent however (Ford and Chevy).

    • @phillipberk5767
      @phillipberk5767 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steve Quantie actually idk about louder, I had borla ataks on my E92 with headers, and it was one of the loudest cars I've ever owned and that thing had mufflers, and 4 sets of resonators

    Never been a Mustang fan, even though they have improved dramatically over the years. I do love the symphony coming from under the hood though. There's just no beating the driving experience of a BMW.. not only as a daily driver, but especially through twisty mtn roads.

    I am not really surprised that M2 won the road course. Germans always underrate the horsepower. I won't surprised that M2 actually makes 360 horsepower at the wheel. And M2 has a DCT. GT350 is not the best performer mostly hurt by its weight. But man, GT350 is just way more exciting than the M2. Where can you find another V8 rev to 8000+ rpm now days? And it is almost an exotic in someway. Maybe that was why I bought one. You know why I don't care about the plastic interior? Cause when I put my foot down, all those shit go away.

    • @user-hr2xu1db8p

      Isn't the Mustang less than 200 lbs heavier? The extra 140+ HP should have made up for the weight difference. (Mustang curb was 3655 if I recall, compared to BMW's 3500ish)
      I agree completely about the 8K rpm V8... and I own an M2 :-)

    I own a GT350. You don’t even need to go fast in this car. Driving slow with the exhaust valve open and hearing it burble/ backfire is probably the best thing I have experienced driving since I was 16 😁

    I own a 2016 GT350, and I have a built 2010 335i. The GT 350 is stock, except for a pair of oil separators. The BMW has full M suspension, running Michelin Pilot Sports, and the engine is pushing 480 HP, with full mods.
    The BMW is much easier to drive quickly in canyons, but the sound of the Mustang and the attention it gets is amazing. The cars are so different, yet in ways very similar.

    Love my 2017 M2. Sold my 2017 Mustang GT (manual) to get it. Good comparo, but the BMW road feel and turn in as well as the fit and finish put the M2 way ahead for me. That flat plane crank though makes up for all of the 5.0's mediocrity and can see why its a game changer for some. Nice job guys, keep up the good work.

    For drag races, you should change the driver's too so it removes any driver bias and gives us a better idea of how driving style, experience, and prowess can affect our performance with the car (if that makes sense)
