How to make Sweet Dough Balls - 2 WAYS! INSTANT CRISPY DONUTS

  • Learn how to make these instant sweet dough balls. These easy to prepare, crunchy, delicious and addictive donut balls are heavenly and comforting, lokma, loukoumades , lokaimat.

    ingredients for the dough
    250g plain flour
    250ml water
    5g yeast
    1 teaspoon salt
    ingredients for coating
    1 cup water
    1 cup sugar
    cardamom seed
    2 cloves
    Method;
    Prepare the syrup first by simmering water and sugar until sugar melts
    add cardamom seed and 2 cloves simmer for a further minutes.
    then remove from heat and cool over ice bucket.
    Method for the dough
    mix flour and salt
    add sugar and yeast to water.
    mix all and stir into a soft dough
    cover and rest for 40 minutes
    Fill piping bag with dough mixture.
    heat oil in a pan and cut balls from the piping bag into the oil and fry until golden
    For extra crispiness fry briefly for a second time
    remove from oil and drain.
    dip half of the donuts into syrup and the other half cover with sugar.

    My mum use to make them all the time Now my wife makes them❤❤❤❤
    Family from Libya the name we have for it is Lugmat Algathi
    Years ago people would present this dish to a judge to try to sway his/her opinion Algathi means Judge Lugma means a sample so Lugmat Algathi means (sample for the Judge)

      I am pleased you enjoy it. Yes Awwamah, Turkish Cypriots call it Lokma. Its all the similar taste.
