In college in the late 70s, my sorority raised money by making and selling biscuit donuts. This was before Grands were on the market so we would buy any frozen biscuits to use. We used a Fry Daddy then use powdered and regular sugar to coat them or spread chocolate icing on them. Trust me, we made money every time!
Me too! I've been making these since the 1970's when I learned it Home Ec class. But, I never thought of twisting them, even though I buy cinnamon twist donuts at the bakery. So glad I watched!
Oh this brings back so many memories! My mama used to make doughnut biscuits - which I very quickly learned to do for myself - because they were so good! She never got fancy with almond extract or lemon - she just did the basic glaze or usually, just the cinnamon/sugar mixture! But I love them to this day! I am going to try the jelly filled ones next, because I love raspberry-filled jelly donuts! And I will add the powdered sugar glaze!! Thanks so much for this video, as well as the tip for freezing any left-over dough! PS I never measure either LOL
As a young kid my family didn't have much extra $ for treats so biscuit donuts were a big deal. I told my coworkers about them and they jokingly called them ghetto-nuts 😂. We filled them with jam too , just don't cut a hole.
I've never even heard of this skill. And I love a good donut. But I'm not trying to put back on the 25lbs I lost. I'll mess around and get those XL Pillsbury biscuits...I will just have to live vicariously through you,and let you and yours enjoy. But I will turn my family on to your site.I got some cuzzins so big, they need help getting out of the kitchen chairs.Thanks.
@bbgirl6741 Thanks for the tip darlin, but did you know Splenda is for every now and then,I use to put it in my coffee, until I started doing research on sugar substitutes. Medical science has shown that long term use of Splenda can cause heart attacks, strokes and heart disease. I now use honey when I drink coffee. And while I don't know you,I care about your health, as crazy as that sounds. Maybe you can invent a honey glaze, organic is the way to go. Our bodies weren't made to ingest processed foods. God Bless you.
Hi there! Your donuts look so delicious! My son has made them before. I am not a huge fan but I do like a chocolate donut every now and then. Thanks for the tip about freezing the extra biscuits. I almost always have extra biscuits left over. 😊
3:49 Great vid..I just want to help the non cooks in the audience with this oil situation..Use an oil that is not going to make your donuts taste bad like veg oil not olive oil or some other weird oil..Ok just thought that needed to be said 😁 7:20 If you wanna be fancy and have a sandwich bag and yes the chopsticks..Use the chopstick to poke a hole in the donut..Put the jam in the sandwich bag n cut off a tiny corner at the bottom of bag n squeeze the jam out with your hand like an icing bag into the donut 👍N nope haven't done this but totally would TY!
Have you ever tried "monkey bread" made with refrigerator biscuits??? The doughnuts and monkey bread were my go-to for Family Friday Night Bites...my kids LOVED them...and so did my pocketbook...😊😊😊
8/11/2024 Is the screen shot a photo of actual donuts and not the biscuit made donuts? I thought the still shot looks either like Shipley’s or Krispy Kreme. This is a good idea to do with the kids when and if funds are low and they can try making them at home. To each their own.
We always make these and we just make a hole in the center of the biscuit with our fingers and we use store-bought frosting both chocolate and vanilla, delicious
My family and I will thiis. Like a Sunday. My father had to and my older brother to the store to get more dough, because they just finish and neighbors pop in to visit. Lol. Those were the good old days.thanks for the memories❤❤❤❤❤
My favorite donuts are plain cake donuts, baked...not fried in oil. Dunkin' Donuts sells them but you can make your own with self rising flour, sugar, vanilla and milk.
My Mom made these when I was growing up. We would use our finger to make the hole ,then gentle swing it around our index finger then drop in oil. Icing was powered sugar, couple of drops of vanilla extract and water.
When I was younger I used to use Pillsbury Biscuits to make doughnuts I love them things thanks to the reminder they're very easy to do I just would bake them and then roll them in sugar easy and quick
My mother cut biscuits into squares then she would cut a small slit about 1 inch maybe inch and a half and pull one corner through the other side and these donuts roll over by themselves in the fryer
When we were kids, our mom would fry the biscuits when we went camping. I never thought of taking canned biscuits and making donuts out of them. I might try that shortcut.
Girl you are too late for that because I make donut holes with Biscuits already. Ok I like your way of doing it but I also love it my way too. Plus I use to do a lot of baking and stuff but not anymore.
Mmmmm. Good i haven't made these in awhile. I used to put a hole in the middle of biscuits. And make jelly donuts. YUM YUM. Now i have grand children I'll try it with them. I want my tench cruller. Nice and light. Very Good. Bless you. ❤
A table spoon of peanut butter(soften a few seconds in the microwave) in the powdered sugar glaze to add to the jelly donut makes PBJ donuts which are really good if that's your kind of thing.Great video! I subbed!
I love biscuits donuts 🍩 so far I have made cinnamon and sugar and chocolate chip inside with cinnamon and sugar… but now I am going to try the jelly and glaze! Why buy when you can make your own! Thanks for sharing ❤
I use a shot glass to make donut holes. Works perfect.
Thanks for the idea.
Say it louder for the folk in the back! "A little fried biscuit never hurt NOBODY!" YES! Agreed!
You would be a great culinary arts instructor/teacher. So calm, clear, patient and comical, creative, and clean!!!
Slow!!!!

I make these all the time for my kids and grand kids. Except for the twisted ones so glad you shared that and the chocolate icing. Thank you

My mom made these for me. These are awesome. Quick and easy. Thanks for posting this!
I have never had a biscuit donut, definite must try❣❣❣
They are very good
This takes me back to my childhood. Except we used the much cheaper Pillsbury biscuits. We did use cinnamon sugar. I loved the video. Thank you. 😀
Exactly and I passed on the tradition with my kids.
Im new.. thanks for sharing for us newbys!!

Who ever would have known, you can make donuts out of breakfast biscuits 😂😂😂😂😅😅😊❤❤❤
I definitely will be trying this 💯
Oh my! I have never heard of this! Definitely trying the chocolate glazed.

That is very clever, I enjoyed watching you make these doughnuts. Thanks.
Looking exceptionally Delicious 😋 Well done Chef Camirra 👩🏽🍳😘🧡💐💛👸🏽😘
Good stuff...thanks for sharing 😊 my mom had 5 of us to feed on a budget, and these doughnuts were a real treat...super inexpensive and tasty!
Wow those doughnuts look good 😋
Never heard of donuts from biscuits!
Yes, I am from New Orleans, and my Mom made beignets canned biscuits and powdered sugar...
I tried donut biscuits, but it didn't agree with my taste buds. Different texture. They are good for making monkey bread tho.
Biscuit donuts just don't do it for me. Two different textures.
Maybe not for everyone😊
I can't stand canned biscuits. But you do make them look good. Y'all enjoy 😋
Biscuit donuts not my thing either, I prefer to use the biscuits for monkey bread.
People don't seem to realize that biscuit dough and donut dough are actually two different doughs. Similar, yes, but different enough.
Biscuit dough has no sugar in it but donuts are sweet. It's a minor issue. 😂❤
NEVER DONE ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE IN 60 years.

Not 'super big back-ery' lmao. Im officially gone up yonder!
Whew memories!
I would make handmade donuts holes fry them up throw them in a brown paper bag with cinnamon & sugar!
Good eatin'!!!
We had these going back to the mid 1960"s.
We had an aluminum ice cream scooper that had a hollow handle that we used to stamp out the holes.
I've got to try the twist
You can use a soda bottle cap as well to make holes. Fried the entire biscuit and rolled in sugar. Left some like that or filled some with red jelly.
I used a (old school 3 lt)soda bottle cap to make the wholes..
My family and I will thiis. Like a Sunday. My father had to and my older brother to the store to get more dough, because they just finish and neighbors pop in to visit. Lol. Those were the good old days.thanks for the memories❤❤❤❤❤
I'm going to see if I surprise my son with some donuts. Lol. Maybe I pass down some traditions.
My favorite flavor donut, maple bacon
Interesting

My mouth is watering. I'm so glad your video popped up as I am cruising youtube while the boys are watching football. BING, subscribed!!!
Made them for my boys all the time when they were small. Of course I ate them too! Glazed them. ❤️❤️
The texture is wrong and the canned biscuit taste comes through. I tried very hard to like them.
Great presentation, and the doughnuts look really good. I will have to try this. Thank you!❤️
That chocolate glaze looks yummy! Thanks
I just bought a package of honey butter biscuits... Your video came up. Guess what I'll probably be trying? :D

Thank you darlin!! I’ve never heard of of this before and this will go over big with my 3 year old grandson!!! Thanks again ❤❤
Such a great recipe ! You’re instructions are very clear and easy to follow. They were yummy, yummy!
Have you read the ingredient list on the can? Those things aren't food, they're poison.
LORD HELP US, THESE LOOK SO GOOD. I AM A DONUT JUNKIE...I CAN'T WAIT TO MAKE THOSE.
We used a lid from a plastic soda bottle to make the donut holes and chocolate frosting
This is actually a fun thing for kids to do without the huge mess lol
Definitely doing this with the grandkids ❤
I can't wait to try this, my to mouth is watering now and it's only 7:00 at night I'll can't wait till morning 😢
I thought it was one ingredient I don’t have much I was excited for a minute 😮
I have done this before with the honey biscuits, powdered & chocolate
My mom use to do this
You produce super grate videos❣️♥️🕊️🙏🏻
I’m going to try this ❤❤❤❤❤thanks for sharing ❤❤❤❤
I do this but I use the king Hawaiian style biscuits cause they're sweeter
Could you bake them instead of frying?
Your Krispy Kreme doughnuts pictured looks nothing like your actual finished product!
ok
I'm going to try this. Thanks for sharing.
I love the stone you’re wearing ❤❤
I don't like biscuit. Dough nuts. Don't like the taste
Girlllllllll you bringing back that old school that I grew up with donuts Honey used to make them all the time
yep super old skool!
Those don't look like the picture 🤣
But still wanna eat some 😂😂😂

Yes ma'am! We used to make these all the time and definitely in the summer with cinnamon and sugar.
😂😂😂😂😂
Right!!

Ok
If you don’t have a biscuit cutter, you can also cut out the hole with a bottle cap.
yes!
All those are Bio Engineered killer foods......
Looks delicious..😋😋

❤one can of layers biscuits, go figure

Do these while camping. Grandkids request ehen they stay over. Use an electric skillet to fry doughnuts. We also use just powdered sugar by itself.
I love biscuits donuts 🍩 so far I have made cinnamon and sugar and chocolate chip inside with cinnamon and sugar… but now I am going to try the jelly and glaze! Why buy when you can make your own! Thanks for sharing ❤
Have you used the honey butter biscuits or the sweet Hawaiian biscuits?
no but i would try it
Maple is my fav, even before chocolate! I also like a little nutmeg in the sugar instead of cinnamon. Yummy! Thanks for sharing this great recipe!
I made these with the smaller biscuits and tossed them in a bag with powdered sugar. I didn’t put the holes in. This is how I woke up my teenage son.
