Looks yummy. I think I will try it. My mom used to make corn masa tortillas that would balloon like this. She would slice it open, slide cheese inside, place it back into the pan and heat it until the cheese had melted. I think I would do the same thing with this flat bread. Thanks for the recipe.😊

(even a bit of mashed fruit, like banana., but add it well mixed into the full liquid mixture before you fry. Just an idea of how you can make it work. You probably wouldn’t even miss the sugar from the recipe if you don’t use sugar hardly at all. So, whip up a batch, or just honestly say you won’t be making it because you can’t be bothered. 🙂
This recipe took 37 mins from beginning to end and made 7 pieces of flatbread for me so I recommend doing dishes or some other activity at the same time. The first one takes forever to brown coz the pan needs to get hot but the rest were fast. Was easy to make and the results were delicious; used a liquid measuring cup for the cold water. This is now my go to recipe when I need a side for my beef stew or curry beans. I can't believe I ever wasted time kneading and rolling dough to make chapati in the past. The second time I made it with half AP flour and half whole wheat flour, added 1/2 tsp baking powder because I was worried it wouldn't puff up but I got 14 perfect pieces. Will modify in the future to add garlic and cilantro. Thank you for this recipe 🎉.
I am low income, a senior and just had spinal fusion. I can do this! Thank you soooonmuch. I find it extremely astonishing since I can't get to a dtore.
I pray someone will help you!! Since you can't bend or lift. After my back surgery I ordered my groceries online at Walmart and had them delivered. Also had laundry delivered through dry cleaners. Expensive, but a huge help because no one wants to help anyone.

I just found this recipe and will be trying it. I’m 71 and had spinal fusion L3,4,5, three years ago so I completely understand. My husband by doing the cooking and housework until I was able. I wish you a good recovery. Physical Therapy wasn’t recommended to me and I took so long to heal. I still don’t walk completely upright and use a cane or walking stick when I’m out. I finally asked for PT and it helped, plus I now do exercises at home and that helps too. They also did a technique called dry needling (not acupuncture) and that made a big difference for me. If physical therapy wasn’t ordered for you, please ask about it. I had a lot of pain so started sitting too much and it really made my muscles stiffer and weaker. When you’re able, movement and gentle exercise are very important. I didn’t do that and paid the price. I sincerely hope you do much better than me! 😢
Perfect ! I added some very, very finely chopped garlic chives, and green onion to the wet mixture then fried it to your instructions. Made it and afterwards, I added some very thin slices of some cheese, folded it and ate it with a small amount of scrambled egg for my lunch. Thank you very much ! After my 10th try I finally got it to puff up like in the video. I went back and re-watched it I noticed she had a little more in her pan than I did and also she used to spatula to flatten them. I think that's the trick to get them to pop up. I flattened it a few times with the spatula. In the areas that were flat or looked wet and then it started to puff up. But I really think the trick is you have to have enough in your pan. When I say I tried this on four times last week what's 6 times this week. To get it to fully puffed up like in the video i was too excited. ✌🏾💌
When I make homemade tortillas you have to keep turning them for the puffing starts. I am so high in the mountains once it starts, I have to press hard at the end. Always put them between cotton cloth napkins while warm and cover with a large bowl. The problem is once you get the technique down there are never any leftovers in my house I am an old fart.😂

I tried it with wheat flour and no oil. It came out very well. Syove flame should be constantly maintained at mid sim. A litle bit of patience also will help.

You are right! You put the ingredients - 5 min, that’s about right, but then you cook it two hours one bread. I tried this, it didn’t get bubble like in the video. Either the flour different, either the water or I’m a terrible cook 🤪🤪
@@doug3794 did you prepare the recipe? Because, in my case, I maked it, and the result was super bad. Too much time consuming and the bubbles never appear. The taste was very bad. I am good cooking, but this recipe is bad.
@@PRH123 Try doing this with self rising flour, they don't specify in the video but self-rising flour has acids and bases reacting causing bubbling. If you do this without all purpose flour it does indeed make a pancake.
If it’s coming out flat try using self rising :). I haven’t tried yet but I am. Thank you recipe is easy to remember. Also even if it does not come out right there is no harm for those skeptical.

And you sieve the batter into the cream dispenser bottle. Then you cover the baking tray with parchment, dispense the batter through the dispenser bottle's nozzle onto the parchment and gently spread it so you don't pop too many of the bubbles. And you pre-bake the stuff for ten minutes at something between 200°C and 392°F, take it out and cut it into long rectangular stripes (think a ratio of like two-by-one). Then you finish baking for another ten minutes et voilá: Crispy Bread 😋 Goes especially hard with nougat spread 🍫
Is there some trick to this? Followed the recipe and instructions, and it did not puff up at all most of the time, or I got a little bit of puffing, but that's it. Do you have to start these on a really low heat at first or something?
Porque está mal la receta. Igual me pasó a mi. Yo hice otra receta para hacer el pan árabe y salió super bien, porque la receta estaba bien hecha. Luego no dicen todos los ingredientes y de ahí que no podamos tener un buen resultado.

Exactly what I needed. Easy flat fried bread without yeast and kneading. Your recipe doesn’t include baking powder which is needed or self raising flour in order for it to puff up. Unfortunately not everyone knows this.

Масла чуть больше добавил.Подсолнечного.Огонь на минимум.Сковорода чугуниевая.Сухая.Смазана шкурой от сала.(на толстой антипригарной тоже получаются). Как блеск пропадёт после заливки,кручу раз 5-6.Иногда надувается не сильно,но внутри разделение идёт....И ещё. Если лить толстым слоем, внутри тесто остаётся сырым. Как-то так....однако

I'm trying right now with Bob's Red Hill gluten-free flour. Update: Came out really good! Think i put aliitke more oil and they came out chewy which was awesome with butter. Thinking for tortillas ill use the amount recommend or a bit less.
I tried many different variations of the recipe with both normal and self rising flour, I never got a single one to puff. No idea what I'm doing wrong, I never had problems with other types of bread.

I've just tried this recipe and have a stack of glue slabs. I did not pour too much batter into the pan, but it just laid there and died. I tried adjusting the heat higher or lower, but it had no effect. No puffing at all, just a stack of rubber mats. I am used to making roll-out chapati and thought this looked so much easier.
The problem could be poor quality flour with a low protein content. Try beating the batter well in a mixer on medium-low speed and letting rest for an hour before cooking.

In case anyone is wondering ... I used 100% Whole Wheat flour. They did not puff up, but the end result was a tasty whole wheat flatbread.

Is there some trick to this? Followed the recipe and instructions, and it did not puff up at all most of the time, or I got a little bit of puffing, but that's it. Do you have to start these on a really low heat at first or something?
No tricks. When heating it, once each side starts cooking and the dough seals, it will rise due to the heat trap.

Porque está mal la receta. Igual me pasó a mi. Yo hice otra receta para hacer el pan árabe y salió super bien, porque la receta estaba bien hecha.
Luego no dicen todos los ingredientes y de ahí que no podamos tener un buen resultado.

Add 1,5 tsp baking powder or use self rising flour. @@lucimlv

Exactly what I needed. Easy flat fried bread without yeast and kneading. Your recipe doesn’t include baking powder which is needed or self raising flour in order for it to puff up. Unfortunately not everyone knows this.

@@PRH123 Да у Вас масло не оливковое!(шутка юмору) Получилось.Со второго раза. Масла чуть больше добавил.Подсолнечного.Огонь на минимум.Сковорода чугуниевая.Сухая.Смазана шкурой от сала.(на толстой антипригарной тоже получаются). Как блеск пропадёт после заливки,кручу раз 5-6.Иногда надувается не сильно,но внутри разделение идёт....И ещё. Если лить толстым слоем, внутри тесто остаётся сырым. Как-то так....однако

@@Этонашгородтвойимой Если добавить яйцо, то НЕ надувается. А мука и вода-НАДУВАЕТСЯ. Масло переливать не нада)))На сковороде тоже масла не нада. Если много наливать теста, внутри сырой комок.

I'm trying right now with Bob's Red Hill gluten-free flour. Update: Came out really good! Think i put aliitke more oil and they came out chewy which was awesome with butter. Thinking for tortillas ill use the amount recommend or a bit less.
I tried many different variations of the recipe with both normal and self rising flour, I never got a single one to puff. No idea what I'm doing wrong, I never had problems with other types of bread.
You need a cast iron pan for this to work properly. It gets much hotter and thus steams the water in the "dough" correctly.

Press it lightly. It will blow up or properly your mixture is too thick

I've just tried this recipe and have a stack of glue slabs. I did not pour too much batter into the pan, but it just laid there and died. I tried adjusting the heat higher or lower, but it had no effect. No puffing at all, just a stack of rubber mats. I am used to making roll-out chapati and thought this looked so much easier.
I had the same when I tried this.
The problem could be poor quality flour with a low protein content.
Try beating the batter well in a mixer on medium-low speed and letting rest for an hour before cooking.
I'll try a half batch again. It was King Arthur Flour, which has always done well for me.@@majormanfredrex
Make the batter thinner.
