The recall was for the door not stopping for obstructions. We are on our own with the faulty door, apparently.

we have the same car here in Australia called kia Carnival. I have the exact same problem as you have and the same side door (right hand side) which is apparently common on that side for some reason. The dealer replaced the motor and rail over a few visits, it fixed it for a while but doing it again after 5 or so months. I explained from the start it was something to do with the latching at the rear of door but they go through their own procedure.. did you have any success since the video?

Do you have any links or information documenting that this was recalled? I don't see any recall info about this... only about the issue of the door not properly reversing when encountering an obstacle(completely unrelated to the issue in this video)

This is exactly what is happening to my door still, seems like it happens when you press the button on the door and the handle only. I have to.close it from the button on the top by the driver

Good luck with the van! Its junk! The motor has a big issue with providing oil to the crank bearings, and let's go!

My mechanic just adjusted the 2 hinges of the sliding door (1 in the front and 1 in d back) if they are not aligned it will not close hence it will make grinding noise because it didnt closed. Try to check and make adjustment on the hinges of the sliding door that should do the trick and it will close properly

@@TH-camluvsGroomers i'm going to try a 5 gallon bucket , one in front and another in rear. use a level and wedge things under the door with the hinges loose, once level (same as car) tighten hinges and bobs your uncle. I'll let you know how it goes, customer comes in next week. been a tech for 35 years, I m sure I can align a heavy door.

It seems best with newer vehicles from all manufacturers to get the low-end models that don't have the fancy electronics features. The gadgetry doesn't last for long and is nightmarish to address. If I could get a new car with windows that rolled up and down...had door locks that pulled up to unlock, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
