Thanks for explaining the set up for us. I have a question though if you could please clarify. I bought these back in 2017 and have always noticed that the headset doesn’t have directional audio for footsteps. It always seems as if gunfire is always very loud and close.
I have not connected it to my PC for updates. Think this could be the issue? I’ll try switching it to tournament mode as well. Thanks in advance for your time.

So I purchased 2 items recently the A40s astro headset new gen Black xbox edition and last month the astro mixamp pro like in this video. When I mute my headset the game sound echoes through to my party chat which is not ideal since I'm a part time streamer.
I have the new incline mute cable do you reckon I should get the same incline mute cable as seen in your video?
Do you find it annoying with the cords everywhere? I like the sound of the map but not a fan of the idea of cords laying across the living room since I play from the comfort of my couch and not super close to the tv
John Morris yeah that’d be annoying. I have a monitor and I sit pretty close. I have them rubber banded so they aren’t everywhere.

This headset won't work well for you if you sit that far away, cords aren't long enough

Does the Astro Mixamp Pro TR make a big difference in sound quality? I ordered a Sennheiser Game One headset and want it to sound the best that it can on my Xbox One.

Your microphone works just fine in party chats? I have the mix amp tr for both ps and Xbox and with the ps my mic works fine but doesn’t pick up on Xbox.
jmooch82 yes, it’s works great with party chat. 1.) make sure it’s on console mode. Also every time before I turn my Xbox on I have to turn off and on the mix amp so I becomes “assigned” again. Let me know if that helps!

im looking into buying these headphones and using them for both PC and Xbox. If i have the optical cable plugged into my xbox but the USB plugged into my pc, would i still get audio from my xbox seeing as the mixamp would be in console mode?

@@declanthomas502 i did more research on it. apparently it works fine you just have to connect both the optical cable and the USB cable to the pc. Fiddle with the settings on the PC and it should work fine, but once you turn your xbox one the optical cable takes priority.
Does the audio effects music through Elgato?
I don't use Elgato but lots of streamers use these so I doubt it does.

I bought he mixamp for xbox and it was the correct model. The first day, it worked like a dream.... the next day, it won’t automatically assign and when I try to manually assign it, I spam the button but it just glitches to the headset assign menu and it says “headset not assigned” or something close to that....
HOLY NUT every time I turn on my Xbox I turn the mix amp off and on and it connects for me.
Lukewarm Dec yeh I tried everything including that and checking the cables...... I called Microsoft and they couldn’t solve the problem. They referenced me to Astro, I contacted Astro and they referenced me to Microsoft.... I think I just got a lemon....

Adrian Madrigal yes if the optical cable doesn’t fit the sound won’t nearly be as good or you won’t hear party talk. I forget which it is but you need this fixed.

Today I bought the updated Xbox One controller (S-version) and all my sound is screwed up. Friends seem far away and very silent while the game-audio is hollow/echoey. Is this common?

Is there a fix for better directional sound in games with these? Right now it sounds like the sounds come from everywhere, can’t pinpoint footsteps or anything
Hm, check the game audio settings itself. My pinpoints perfectly. Just mess with it and let me know how it goes!
Cayden Caamano nothing yet, I’ve changed to custom eqs online meant for footsteps but the sound almost seems like it’s reversed, footsteps from teammates behind me are incredibly loud and reallllyy hard to pinpoint where sounds are coming from
Cayden Caamano I have and it sound amazing now. First I realized I was wearing the headphones the wrong way I didn’t have the right side on my right side, but also I had been getting a loud static and popping noises so what I did was I only have the Xbox and tv plugged into the outlet, before I had a power strip which causes a lot of dirty noise which the amp was picking up. Finally, I went to settings, sound, and I chose to have the party audio come through the tv speakers only and it fixed pretty much anything that was wrong and sounds great now!
Also, turn down the mic monitoring in command center to 0% it fixed the static
What’s the difference between this and the black a40 amp?
Blink nothing you can use it for both but I believe black is technically for the ps4

I bought these brand new from Astro and was getting no sound out of the right side. Turns out the inline mute cable i got with them was faulty. Weird how a guy can spend almost 300 dollars and can't even use the equipment

@@lukewarmdec6471 still in the process with Astro support. New inline mute cable actually wasn't the fix. The headset is bad and i need to send it to them for "examination" there goes another 2-3 weeks without a working headset. Lol i can't win

@@lukewarmdec6471 I ordered them on Amazon but yes AstroGaming was the amazon profile i ordered them from. And they have not answered me yet after i told them the new cable didn't make the headset work either. I wish they would just call me instead of emailing me back every other day.
There is a big difference in each mode. Have you made your own settings on it yet?

xXxMIN0UxXx No, I don’t use it for the surround sound. You can try doing the surround and see how it sounds but I do the Dolby Digital.
By changing bitstream format to Dolby Digital Surround
You use 7.1 surround sound. Your settings automatically utilize the 7.1 surround sound.

Russ no no. Firstly, make sure that the headset is "connected" also make sure you switched it to Xbox mode. If that doesn't work try turning on and off the mic. If it doesn't work then honestly I'd unhook everything and watch the video and do each step over again.
Russ your issue really is the headset isn't connected tho. Should be an easy fix. When mine does that I just turn on and off. I do it every time I turn my Xbox on

TeamSESH Downer yes you'll still be able to use them. Idk how good they will perform. I would just try to find a computer because it takes 2 minutes to update the firmware. But definitely try it out and see how it works out!

Can someone help me, i put all of my settings as his and i can hear my game just fine, i just can’t tell the direction. I will think it’s behind me but they will be in front, vide versa it’s really bothering me and it’s actually unplayable

Lukewarm Dec Fortnite, i figured out the sound but it just sounds so weird and bassy i but it to your settings too
rated_R _clutch well I’m not sure what your problem really is. I had problems with sound a bit but that’s just because CoD 4 blackout had some major sound issues. Other than that I can literally hear people a mile away and it helps me tremendously.

Maurieitor 4 idk what it could be. Make sure it’s on Xbox mode and not pc mode. Also check the settings to see if they’re correct and that your wires are all plugged in correctly.

Antonio Moran I’m having same issue I can hear but it doesn’t pick up my mic
Jared Stiefel so I have no problem with it now I connected the USB to the back of my Xbox turned off the amp and the Xbox. Turn the Xbox on and then when the home screen appears and the controller is on turn on your amp. Ensure the optic cord in the back is connected all the way in the Xbox it feels like it wants to break but ensure it’s locked in.

It is. Its connected. It works on pc. I unplugged from pc and plugged to xbox. Says "we can find a microphone for these people".

Ball Been Life to be honest the mic amp makes the sound 10x better. I ups the sound and the quality. I highly suggest buying the mic amp with it. They are a pair.

I have old Astro’s a40s for Xbox 360 and my wire got cut that goes from the amp into the controller. Do you think I could just use an aux cord and plug it into my Xbox one remote?
