  • We are going over the steps to paint brake calipers on a 2021 Mustang GT. This includes removing the brake calipers, painting, and installation. If you are painting rear brake calipers on a new Mustang with a heavy gloss coating (Galvanized Zinc Coating), ensure they are wire brushed/sanded greatly before painting. If not, the paint will have a hard time sticking to the factory protective coating.
    Note: Wait 24-48 hours before driving your vehicle.
    6 Month Update: Calipers still look awesome (just a little dirty). See link below for pictures.

    Thank you for another detailed video man you are doing excellent job on these videos. My question why did you choose the paint you used vs g2 caliper paints. Is it because those needs clear coat after the paint? Please update us how the paint will hold in couple months.

    • @mcgurrentertainment
      @mcgurrentertainment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much for the support. There is nothing wrong (based on my research) with G2; it seems to be high quality and has self-leveling properties. I wanted to try a spray paint for this job instead of brushing, due to the large surface areas and hard-to-get places. With that being said, I was thinking of trying G2 on my Mustang (blue with white stripes), just to see how it will turn out.
      Also, good call on the update reminder. I will set a reminder to take photos in a few months and post them. That's a great idea!!! Thank you.

      No issues. I posted the 6 month update pictures (In the description). ERA's 2k Paint is similar to G2; meaning, it mixes a hardener in the paint before use. Acting as an epoxy. So far, so good. Good questions.

    Pretty good, only note is the caliper mounting bolts are one time use torque to yield bolts so always change them out, never reuse them.

    • @mcgurrentertainment
      @mcgurrentertainment  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is true, the service manual does say to discard the bolts. However this decision was omitted based the car/bolts still being new (Plus, the consulting engineer concurred). Good note!!!

      True. We decided not to replace the brake pads due to the car still being new and low mileage. Plus, when we inspected the pads, they still appeared to be "like new" condition. Any other time, I agree; you might as well replace them while you're in there. Great recommendation.
