    Just remove the calipers, block off the lines, and paint them on a bench. 90% of people doing this are gonna do it during brake changes anyway.

      I agree 100% that’s easier and the way I’m going to but you risk getting air in the brakes and 75% of people wouldn’t know how to bleed brakes correctly. This is a much safer solution to show in a video.

      @@scottjohnson9619 literally came here to say in the time it takes to mask the whole car just take the calipers off lmaoooo and maeks it easier to prep, mask, not miss any spots, basically makes everything easier. Bleeding brakes takes like 10 minutes and theres ways to do it by yourself too so literally no excuse not to. Still sick looking either way but im painting my lexus calipers next weekend off the car lol

    • @blkeclipsel2400
      @blkeclipsel2400 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Right ? Would've been easier and cheaper to just remove the calipers. Removing the need to purchase masking tape for the wells, plastic wrap for the entire car and eliminating the risk of overspray all together. With removing, one can just sit comfortably and prep/paint the calipers in their entirety without being crouched down at wheel level cramping your back, knees with unevenly distributed weight on your feet against the pavement. The worst that could happen is you'd have to bleed the brakes which takes less time to do than masking off the entire car. The end product looks fantastic but it didn't need to be that hard.

      @@davidcallow4905if someone doesn't know how to bleed their brakes, they have no business painting their calipers. It really isn't that hard to bleed brakes.

    Hey Cameron! Just curious here, but why wasn’t the decal put on before clear coating? Also, is it a plastic or vinyl decal?
    I’m planning on painting my calipers soon but still torn between VHT high temp caliper paint and clear or going the G2 route. Being that I’d like to put a Brembo decal on mine, I’ve heard mixed opinions on whether or not to spray clear over G2, which makes me want to lean towards going the rattle can route.
    What are your thoughts? Thanks! 🍻

    I always thought the sticker goes on after the first layer of pain(color you want the letters to be), a 2nd layer of paint goes over the sticker (color of the calipers) and then the sticker is peeled, clear coat is applied. how does the sticker hold up with rough usage?

    • @blkeclipsel2400
      @blkeclipsel2400 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Honestly I wouldn't have even used the stickers atop or under a clear coat. Since I don't trust decals against brake dust, dirt, pressure washing, and extreme heat I would've used them like a stencil/masking tape.
      1. Paint a black base coat on the area where the decal lettering will be placed
      2. Apply the Decal over the dry black base.
      3. Paint over them and the entire caliper with a yellow base coat
      4. Remove the decal once the yellow dries. Exposing the black base coat underneath in the shape of the decal letters.
      5. Apply the clear coat over it all.
      Despite being advertised as heat resistant. decals are still thin vinyl and prone to peeling, bubbling, and discoloration. Which is even worse if under a clear coat. Paint doesn't grip to vinyl the way it does to primer. Should the vinyl peel or bubble up underneath, you're going to see the clear coat prematurely chipping. From there you wont be able to simply peel the rest off. You'd have to sand them off and repaint the whole caliper. Another way to look at it is If you took a vinyl wrapped car to be painted, The first thing they will do is remove that wrap then prep and primer it for paint.

    WOW...... The mentality of applying High Temp Paint and then YOU can put a PLASTIC STICKER on without a problem ( YOU know a sticker that melts with a ciggy lighter...lmfao ).... Just give that a thought for a minute..... The best kept secret in the world is what temps can standard Enamel Paint actually take?? ( High Temp / Caliper Paint manufacturers don't what that coming out, DO THEY ? ) -- This comment does not relate to Track Cars...

    Why would you spend so much time trying to get a super shine on the calipers when the color of the car is hideous? Matte on a car is just stupid. It looks like primer.
