One time someone said S+ turned on the fake engine noises and I've never laughed harder
Wow, that's a new one. 🤣
Lmfaooo
It actually serves for noise reduction
The adaptive exhaust is honestly such a great feature, at least as someone who lives in an apartment complex. Feel much better starting up to drive to work when it’s in quiet start!
Agreed
Brilliant, detailed explanation and breakdown of each mode ! Cheers mate !!
Thank you.
I sincerely hope that your channel explodes. Your videos are so well constructed and explained. You've brought simplicity without complicating the details, together with brilliant editing. Hard to find these types of videos. You've earned my sub man, I love your videos.
Thank you very very much, that really does mean a lot. I'm going to keep pushing as best as I can. The channel grows because of viewers like you.
Thank you so much for the detailed description! I’m test driving one tomorrow and needed a fast explanation on the different modes so I could check the Magneride and Active Exhaust were both operating correctly. You’ve got a new follower!
Thank you very much. Let me know what you think of the magneride system.
I have my mustang for couple years and I just started to learn how all these work. Thank you so much this video is awesome!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you for the support. It really means a lot!!!!
I couldn’t agree more, an extremely detailed and helpful video! My 2018 GT w/10 AT thanks you!
Thank you very much for the support!!! It really means a lot 😃
Great video Sir. Really informative and detailed. Thank you. 🍻
Thank you for the kind words. 😁
Great video and explanation! Very detailed
Thank you 😊. I greatly appreciate the support
Great video, information presented so well!
Thank you for the positive feedback.
Gret video and very well explained BRILLIANT thank you ( Nick From Sydney Australia )
Thank you very much. It really does mean a lot!!! 😃
I just upgraded from a 09 to a 2020 so obviously I got way too many new features to learn and you helped he out a lot 😅😅thanks
No problem at all. I glad it helps.
How do you like it? I have an 05 and test drive a 2015, it’s very different and I don’t like the difference size mirrors but that’s pretty minor
Good question. I really enjoy the performance and handle. The mirrors on the orange Mustang has BLIS which is really convenient, however the blue Mustang does not. As long as the mirrors remain clean (and not foggy) its pretty easy to check the blind spots. Overall, I think the s550 Mustangs were a good design. Curious to see how the S650 turn out.
As you’re driving home from work lol I felt that
The orange color looks really good on that Mustang in my opinion. I have a navy blue Ecoboost and it’s really fun to drive even in the regular driving mode.
I agree. I always enjoy driving the Mustang.
Very informative. Thankyou 🙏🏻
Thank you for the positive feedback 😀
Top video very helpful and useful thanks ☺️
Thank you!!!!
Wow this is an amazing video! Very detailed. I have a 2019 GT PP1, manual, without active suspension, so I was interested to see the differences those modes made with the other options. The throttle is also affected by the different modes. Snow mode makes the throttle feel dead in comparison to say Track where throttle response is sharp and immediate. I use snow mode a lot because I get 1-4 mpg better depending on conditions. The computer pulls power and timing in snow mode.
Didn't even think about the fuel savings for snow mode....nice
@@mcgurrentertainment I didn't either, saw it on another TH-cam video. I figured it was free and worth a try. It actually helps the most around town, the highway not as much difference. I went from 19 to 21 average with mixed driving.
Very cool.
Having that slow response defeats the purpose of a sports car. Just buy a Prius and a rainbow tshirt if you care about gas mileage
@@joyceofdriving4954 lol I’m in sales and easily drive mine over 100 miles a day most days and mine isn’t stock so it gets even worse gas mileage but okay buddy. 😂
A very informative video
Thank you
I just had my 2021 get now I fully understand how those things work thank u for your clear explained video
Thats awesome. I'm glad it helped ☺️
@@mcgurrentertainment My 2020 mustang gt doesn't have those mode buttons. How do I access track mode?!
It sounds like you may have the Base model (300a). The Selectable Drive Modes are not available on the Base models.
Thank you, helpful. There has to be more to it to the Snow/Wet mode though, no?
Thank you for the support. There is a lot more to the Driving Modes, for example, traction control (I can spend a whole video just on that alone). This video was mostly focused on the basics of how the modes impact the vehicle. Before making this video, Ford (and other professionals) were contacted to provide some details/documentation of how the drive modes interacted with each system. After looking at all the information, I came to the conclusion that there is a fair amount of complexity of how the components communicate and function with each other. Long story short, it would best to keep the Driving Mode functions short and simple. Good question!!!
When we change the gt500 into track or drag mode it says “For track mode use see manual” it also says for the track exhaust mode.
Try not to read the manual while driving.
I've never liked mustangs. My friend is letting me drive his 2020 roush manual and it's amazing. I'm in love, he's going to have a hard time getting it back. It's ridiculous but still able to cruise and eat shit in traffic and it's not bad at all
Perfect for a Mustang owner.
Next should be how to drive 101.
Thank you
You seem like the best person to ask lol, is there a way to make your car start in s+ the same way you can quiet start
Good question. Sadly, no. The car will default back to normal mode once shut off. I'm sure someone on the 6g forums has attempted to change the default mode (probably using FORScan), but I haven't seen it done personally.
Howdy, nice video, very detailed and well presented, I have a few questions though. Why are the 0-60 times so different compared to what is advertised or what I've seen from other people getting 4.2-4.3 seconds? I'm picking up this friday my 2023 GT performance package and I would be thankful if you can clarify if it has 450 or 460 hp. Thanks
Keep in mind that the car is stock with oem tires. The area it was tested was not optimal for 0-60 testing (it was a safe area that was available). So the times are just used for comparison values between the modes. And 450hp
@@mcgurrentertainment alright, got it man, thanks
Anytime 😊
@@mcgurrentertainment just got the car today and I have one more question if you're willing, everytime i start the car, the exhaust mode is set on normal and i always set it on sport, but whenever i shut off the engine and start it to drive again, the exhaust sound is back to normal mode, isn't there a way to save my setting so I don't have to do this everytime i hop into the car? I want to always have the exhaust sound mode on sport without doing this manually everytime i get into the car. Thanks!
This is a common question. Everyone loves the exhaust on sport/track mode. Sadly, I haven't found any information on how to accomplish this goal. I'm sure it would require some programming to make it work permanently.
When lifting off in drag strip mode, are you flooring the accelerator all the way?
Yes
I’ve never gotten a clear answer on the difference between Sport+ and S on the shifter. Is there any benefit to using them at the same time? Or does sport+ do everything S does anyways? Thanks in advance great video!
Sport and Sport+ are very similar, with a few exceptions.
Sport Mode changes the throttle response and aggressive shifting to a more responsive type of driving. The same as Sport+.
However, Sport+ does throttle response as well as Steering Wheel stiffness, Magneride (if equipped), and Active Valve Exhaust (if equipped). Hints: the "+" after SPORT. Sport Mode PLUS Steering, Suspension, and Exhaust.
When you turn off your vehicle, Does your vehicle stay in the last mode selected when turned back on? Or does it always automatically go back to normal driving mode?
It goes back to normal mode. Great question!!!
@@mcgurrentertainment sweet thanks, I just bought a 2017 Gt Premium 6speed, I’m still getting used to it. Have not really tried any modes yet. Mainly drive it in normal, but will try out sport+ here tomorrow it should be nice a sunny 😁.
Thanks for responding
Anytime. Sport Mode is fun!!!
@@mcgurrentertainmentI watch to buy Mustang but can't find info about something. Car i watch he has classic "navigation mod with small display 2021" but I not see inside car switching mod from normal to another, so my question is if car dont have buttons for switch mod is car have or not all that mods?
Sounds like a base model 300A, which does not have the selectable drive modes.
I know it’s a year later to this video, but does this also apply to a 2016 ecoboost? Or is it slightly different?
Yes. The Ecoboost is similar to the GT regarding Drive Mode functions (obviously, the 0-60 times will differ). If you would like more info on the EcoBoost, check out this video: th-cam.com/video/o15P8oCXNVI/w-d-xo.html
I have a 2022 mustang automatic trans if I put it in sport plus do I have to use the paddle shifters ? Or will it shift for me?
Good question. The automatic transmission will shift for you. The paddle shifters are completely optional; they are more of a fun feature.
What about the S on the drive column? Is it a lower gear?
Putting your vehicle in sport (S) provides additional lower gear operation through the automatic transmission shift strategy and provides gear upshifts and downshifts more quickly at higher engine speeds. Good question.
Mine lives in drag mode with all the nannies turned off. Vales open and steering in sport. Feels best to me. Pedal is very touchy but fun.
😎
So i noticed thottle response was never mentioned between track mode and sport plus ! Do these two modes not affect thoses!
These two modes have similar throttle response. I just added two data sheets (in the description) to illustrate the differences between the different modes in regards to gas pedal reaction. Someone on Facebook was nice enough to share this info.
Hello, I'm looking at getting a custom order GT fastback 2022. If I get the car WITHOUT the toggle switches, can I still change these driving modes from the console?
Sadly, no. What package are you thinking about getting?
@@mcgurrentertainment The Standard 300A. Had a few things I didn't want in that 301A package didn't want to pay for them. So I guess I'll have to upgrade to the GT High 301A Equipment Group. Thanks for the reply and information.
I understand completely. I was on the fence when I purchased my Mustang (300A vs 301A). After playing with the features, I really got attached to the Android Auto and Apple Carplay features. But cost does play a huge factor these packages. Sadly, the cost of vehicles are ridiculous right now.
The S stands for sport mode right? I have a 2016 GT and if I wanna turn on sport+ I gotta put it on the S. Drive mode is regular sport.
The "S" on the gearshift level is Sport Mode; provides additional grade braking and extends lower gear operation. "D" is drive mode and is used for normal driving; provide best fuel economy when using the gearshift level. If you want to use "Sport+" you would need to toggle the Mode Button until Sport+ is enabled.
@@mcgurrentertainment When I wanna use regular sport mode I have to put the car in drive and put it on sport from the switch. If I wanna use sport plus I gotta put the gear on S and then put the switch on sport plus.
@mcgurrentertainment what if I shift to S and then change mode to Sport Plus what happens then?
There is an additional "mode" which I discovered.
Change the mode to 'Snow/Wet' while you are in D(Drive) and then pull the shifter into S(Sport).
You can now drive in normal with paddle shifters and throttle response is crazy! 😅
That's different.
@@mcgurrentertainment
Oh well, I thought I should share because I used to try and paddle shift while in Normal (since it resets the paddles if you leave the shifter in Drive) until I discovered that trick.
It's always a good idea to share new information, keeps the creative juices flowing.
How did you get the Digital speedometer? Mine only Shows the average speed
I not sure what you mean
So I’m not sure if this a trick that everybody uses but I’ve been wondering if it’s bad for the car. When you have it on sport plus and I’m at low rpm but want to downshift(I’m in an automatic) I press the gas pedal a bit and revs up to around 5 rpm’s. Kinda new to cars so just wondering if that’s a normal thing to do
Yes, people do this, and it's not uncommon. Is it bad....? Well, any aggressive driving can put extra stress on the engine and transmission over time, causing wear and tear. However, these are sports cars to enjoy, not to keep behind glass or drive 10 under the speed limit. Quick question: Does your mustang have the paddle shifters?
@@mcgurrentertainment correct, it does have paddle shifters
Just an option if you want to control the shifting quicker.
I have a 2015 mustang ecoboost.I just want to make sure it’s ok to switch between Drive modes while driving right?I would assume so just want to make sure.
You can switch between Drive Modes while driving...sometimes you have to!!
@@mcgurrentertainment Okay thanks just bought the car I’m still learning everything but this video was very helpful.
No problem at all. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
do the ecoboosts have the exhaust valve feature and how do you know if it is equipped when you're looking at ecoboosts on sale?
Good question. If I recall, the 2018+ Ecoboosts could have this feature. The two ways to confirm would be through the Settings on the Instrument Cluster and verify you can change the exhaust modes or physically look at the muffler for a butterfly valve. The valves are shown in this video: th-cam.com/video/3nykKceZer8/w-d-xo.html
Most everyone already know's this, but hold your foot on the Brake and Trac Control button for 7 seconds and she's unlocked ready to go, just make sure yr steering is in sport.. That takes all the advance trac off and the car is supposed to be at full power from there..
Very nice
Is ther any way i can leave my car in sport plus mode without manually changing it everytime?
Not that I have found....yet
If u put it in track can u change it to not use the paddles shifters?
As long as you don't use them, the automatic transmission will function as expected.
Good sir, where did you get those floor mats?
Those are weathertechs with a custom decal.
why tcs is flashing on drag mode? it's supposed to be off 🤔
It's off. Sadly, Ford didn't program Drag Mode like Track Mode to indicate Traction Control is disabled.
Is it okay for your transmission to leave it in track mode?
Yes, it's a badass sports car. 😎
Besides, it's only used on track day.
I just rented 23 GT and great video except the snow/wet portion was somewhat lacking. Going 25mph through a snowstorm on the interstate the Snow/Wet mode was absolutely worthless.
I'm sure the summer tires didn't help either
I never floor my car on track mode or do a dead stop on track mode…. My car losses control so I always keep it on sport + lol
Nothing wrong with being safe. Track mode is definitely for the track, I would not recommend it on city streets.
Does the 16 gt fastback Have those functions?
Yes. As long as you have the right package. However Drag Mode become available in 2018.
@@mcgurrentertainment and one things is the exhaust changes depending on the Driving mode for example if I put the car in track mode it sounds more than in normal mode
With Active Valve Exhaust, yes.
@@mcgurrentertainment and how do i do that? It's that I put mine in track mode and it sounds the same It doesn't change the sound
The factory Active Valve Exhaust was not available until 2018. According to Steeda, "In 2018, Ford first made the Active Exhaust option available for the Mustang GT, three years after the debut of the GT350 which came with the active exhaust setup in 2015. If your Mustang GT is older than 2018, you will not have the factory option for Active Exhaust available unless you own a GT350. You could still easily do so with an aftermarket exhaust system but it will not have Ford’s electronically integrated setup installed." (Reference: www.steeda.com/do-you-have-active-exhaust)
I always thought there wasn't any difference in exhaust between the S+ and track mode😂
😁
I have a 2017 V6 but it doesn’t have the button where I can see my modes is there any way I can change modes or do I just not have the option
Sadly, you do not have that option.
@@mcgurrentertainment oh Ight thank you
i have a 17 performance package with a manual, the toggle doesn’t work, it moves but nothing shows up on my dash
Was this a modified Mustang when it was purchased?
@@mcgurrentertainment all it had was a cold air intake and an exhaust, the passenger side heated seats button is also not working which leads me to believe it’s the wiring connector behind the display there
Yea, it seems like it needs some repair work.
How does the burn out setting work
I'll do the Line Lock video when it's close to tire replacement time. 😁
Lol great idea !
Does the 2015 gt performance package bring track mode?
Do you have the base model or premium; ie. Do you have leather seats?
@@mcgurrentertainment The premium, with leather seats
It should have track mode.
what is the difference between sports mode and sports plus mode?
Sport - Engages when you shift your automatic transmission into sport (S). Sport mode increases throttle response and helps your vehicle accelerate faster, but does not change the vehicle dynamics or stability system.
Sport + - Best suited for spirited driving. This mode increases throttle response, and if your vehicle has active exhaust, it takes on a more powerful tone. If your vehicle has adaptive dampers, the suspension becomes stiffer, body motion reduces and the steering becomes more precise. Selectable steering defaults to Sport.
@@mcgurrentertainment thank you
Anytime
@@mcgurrentertainment does sport + increase throttle response more than sport?
so i’m guessing the 2015 eco don’t have sports mode?
The 2015 premium is equipped with selectable driving modes
@@mcgurrentertainment man idk what that is. all i know is i have the ecoboost turbo charged and i don’t got that option
Do you have Cloth seats?
@@mcgurrentertainment yes sadly
This means you have the base model (100A). It is not equipped with the selectable drive model feature.
I thought the 18 GT had a 3.9s 0-60mph time!!
5:50
In my 2021 MT82 drag mode does not disable traction control. Track mode is the only mode that disables it for me
The "Traction Off" indicator light is only shown in Track Mode, however it is also Off in Drag mode as well (just not shown). Drag Mode provides maximum power to the drive wheels during the run; traction control enabled would counteract the straight performance. When Ford added this feature in 2018, it seems it was implied Traction Control was disabled. Good attention to detail 👍
@@mcgurrentertainment good to know, I always thought it was weird with it not indicating it would be off
Maybe Ford had a different programmer add the drag mode to the computer (just guessing).
is there an difference in fuel economy ?
I have not performed any experiments, so bare with me. From what I heard, Wet/Snow mode gives you the best MPG, and then Normal mode is 2nd best. Sport Mode through Track Mode turns the car into a gas guzzler. As far as exact MPG, I would need to run the car on a close track with controlled conditions. Good question, though.
@@mcgurrentertainment any plans on doing just that? :)
That's a tough one. Maybe one day.
@@mcgurrentertainment ok :)
Still trying to decide what car to get for my daily/work car
Pretty much, what you can afford and what is available.
my Mustang GT EU Modell 2022: 0-100 km/h = 4,7 sec.
Cool
EU models have slightly less power than US ones. If it was a US one with 10 speed auto, you’d have around 4.2 sec
What mode should i use if im doing a rolls racing?
The "license and registration" mode
What is you are on sport and you put it on sport plus ? lol
?
I have a 2022 GT and i only have selectable “Steering” modes
Keep in mind, Active Valve Exhaust and Adaptive Dampers are optional features for the Mustangs. They are not equipped standard for specific packages.
@@mcgurrentertainment yes i understand this but i dont have selectable drive modes. S+ Track Wet/Slippery etc. i can only change the way my steering feels
I'm guessing you have the base model (300A)?
@@mcgurrentertainment yes
That makes sense. Selectable Driving Mode feature is not available on the base model 300A. It's becomes standard on the 301A and up equipment groups.
Drag mode is not on the 2016 model
Correct, 2018 and up
Too bad they implemented the flap exhaust only with the start of the 2019 model with quad exhausts. But better than not doing at all.
True, Active Valve Exhaust was available for the Mustang GT in 2018 and then available for the ecoboost in 2019.
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd he does not mention the sports mode on the stick
Would you like to know what that feature does?
Basically they are all the same😂
?
Any video that’s says"Spirited driving" is full of ish… Next!!!! Don’t waste your time
If that term offends you, you might want to stay away from the owners manual... "Sport + - Best suited for spirited driving"
@@mcgurrentertainment That’s the point we all have read the owner’s manual, im not asking for someone else to read it to me… I’m looking for real life detailed opinion. You don’t really know how the car works your just guessing and reading from a manual. Just for content, "Filler information"
Get behind the wheel and test on an open road and run actual test then post. Good luck
Prime example if your in track mode and tap the gas the car will drop gear for a few seconds. Good to do before a turn to prevent the car from bogging down when accelerating through a turn. Do your research you’ll see what I mean…
