I'm working towards getting a Mustang and this video is really helping me understand some of the various modes more than other videos I've seen. You did a great job explaining. I hope to get a 2020-2021 GT off the lot.
Another thing that happens in track mode which many may not catch. It tries to keep the starting RPMs higher to keep you in a peak power band. So when you driving in say like your idle driving you sit at around 2K rpms. You select track and you will see your rpms be maintained in a gear at around 4K rpms.
With the transmission in “S” when you downshift to your desired gear instead of putting it back in drive you can just hold the up shift paddle for 2 seconds and it’ll start shifting on its own again.
So I went for a drive after I seen this video, and if you are in “s” and you let of the gas and hold the downshift it will put you in the right gear to start your roll as well.
It does just press and hold the paddle down, while the transmission is in S mode. I didn’t think the mustangs did it either but I’ve got a 21 GT and it works for me.
Can you help me, when I put my gear selector in S mode, it now stays in whatever driving mode I have manually selected S+ etc or Normal, it used to work, now nothing changes when shifting down into S?
One more thing. From what I understand. The only way to turn off AdvanceTrac and have it stay off in Sport+ or Track (toggles) is to be stopped with foot on the brake when you turn it off. Would be nice if a tune could allow us to turn off AdvancTrac without it coming back on at all.
Track mode doesn't hunt for gears as much as either sport mode. It actually anticipates throttle responses based on spirited driving methods/conditions
@@JVette01 they shift completely different. Track kinda waits to shift based on how you throttle the the throttle. Sport will kinda do its own thing and shift regardless
From what I understand on my ‘15 GT, Track mode is the only one that turns off traction/stability control completely. Sport and sport+ adjust the level of traction/stability control response to allow a bit more of ‘out of shape’ or slide. All modes adjust (except normal) adjust the timing or tune to give more aggressive throttle and shift response. But, again from what I understand, any mode other than track, the traction/stability control will turn back on if you get too far out of shape and you lift off gas pedal. This is what causes most crashes. I find Sport (shifter) is more than enough for a roll race.

Eco boost.....ehhh
Mines tunes better on paddle shift 🙊😹
I'm not 100% comfortable hearing this from a ecoboost owner.
??
@JVette01 as a GT owner I have to roast the ecoboosts, its the law.
I have a GT now and I completely respect EcoBoosts
@JVette01 I don't make the rules I just follow them.
I’m a 5.0 owner and never heard it be the law to roast ecoboosts 😵💫
thanks a lot
Thank you
