Welcome to the TH-cam Channel of the Highland Hikers. We are Douglas and Alistair, and we hope you can join us as we explore our home country of Scotland. We are keen walkers and will be bagging a few Munros in addition to venturing through the less known trails and routes the country has to offer. We will be releasing videos on a bi-weekly basis and would love it if you could join us on our journey.

Alistair and Douglas are back out on the hills together, and for the first time in almost 2 years, Douglas gets to bag some new Munros! Join us on Day 3 of our 3 day trip up north.

Within easy reach of the cities of the central belt and with an isolated position away from the other Border's hills, Tinto is an extremely popular and straightforward hill. What exactly is a Stalker’s Path? I’m going with the brownie. Glad you made it through The Fear!
Thanks Seth! It’s a path used by people participating in Deer Stalking - hunting essentially. It’s quite popular in highland estates. It’s a British term, which is probably why you haven’t come across it before.
Nice one. Can't avoid the clag every time, but great views while it lasted. . Brownies the winner this time!
Yeah, it is Scotland after all! Thanks ☺️
Another nice video both well done if you ever return to this Munro I recommend descending north from the summit to the Munro top Sgurr mhaoraich beag for the wonderful view down loch hourn and it’s nice to return to the start by going over Am Bathaich and zig zag down to road well done stay safe Look forward to you next video
Thanks Andrew! That’s the route we’d have taken if the conditions had been better, so will definitely be keeping it in mind if we ever return.
Hi Gents, blimey that’s a tough one this week, can I please have a brownie……and a slice of Battenberg 😋🥾⛰🏴
Haha, of course you can Dave 😄
excellent lads , heading up there this weekend ....
Thanks Craig, hope you get good conditions 🤞
10:35 Stunning vista. Nice one lads.
Thank you ☺️
Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing. 👍8
Thanks!
Brownie thingy, not the biggest fan of Battenburg. Clag seems a feature of 2024, got to make the best of it. Unless you've done the Knoydart Munros before, you'll have to pass that way again (unless you access them via Inverie). Thanks for uploading, guys. 🏴🏔👍
Thanks Nick! I’ve done the Knoydart munros back in 2014 - took the ferry from Mallaig to Inverie. Alistair still needs to do them at some point, so may very well be back 😃
Stunning video guys. The summit snack for me must be Mr Kiplings. Well done on bagging newer munros. Am out this weekend. Can't wait. ATVB Alan
Thanks Alan, enjoy your weekend!
Battenburg for me.
A good choice for sure!
You missed out Harris tweed!! Just found you guys so will be binge watching to catch up now 😉 The Hebrides are on my bucket list, fell in love with them over 30 years ago reading the Lillian Beckwith books, I must read them again!
Thanks Viv! We’ll need to go back some time and visit Harris tweed 😄
Great video, the yum yums are the clear winner on this day, hopefully get to these two later in the year
Thanks Derek. Even I would vote for the yum yum 😂 these 2 are a great day out, yet another beautiful part of the country
Cracking lads two fantastic Munro’s I did these clockwise in winter fab views cheers
Thanks Andrew. What was the descent like?
The decent was fine we descended diagonally from Spidean Mialach summit down to large loch then found a hydro road that took us back to the road the ascent was great as you are aware there a great stalker’s path to climb up to first Munro chers
@andrewkingdom doesn’t sound too bad at all!
Well done Guy's 👍
Thanks Jimmy
Cracking video of a stunning walk, guys. And I think splendiferous is a fair description of those yum-yums!
Thanks Irene. We both really enjoyed the yumyums, they were a welcomed treat.
@@HighlandHikers hi boys, I was fortunate enough to have dry weather for my clockwise walk, I found the stalkers path made for a relaxing ascent!!!!.🏴👍😎😎🏴
Sounds like a good day
Two cracking Munros and a great day out. Totally agree on anticlockwise route around these hills. Like to get the road walk and walk in out of the way first plus the track down from 2nd Munro brings you directly back to the car park. Would have to go with the caramel thingy as a summit snack. Thanks for uploading, guys.🏴🏔👍
I wouldn’t fancy coming down off of the first summit we did if the ground was damp. I can imagine the grass would be rather slippery! The caramel shortcake was amazing!
"Dove to Fort William to get the Park Run in" - classic
Some things never change! Now that I’ve done one he wants me to do a parkrun before an 18km hike!
Those Yum Yums looked bloody magic 🐷
They really were Alastair, we both thoroughly enjoyed them!
Awesome video guys. Loved the drone footage. Just fantastic as usual. When it comes to the summit snack. Well I've got to say the yum yum just cause of the size 😂😂. Enough to share lol. Well done to both of you on bagging new munros. Looking forward to the next one. ATVB Alan
Thanks Alan, we appreciate the comment! The yumyum was the better of the 2 to be fair to Dougs.
Hi Gents, what a fantastic area, some stunning views there, especially those opening shots, WOW! As for summit snacks, I think this week it’s an honourable draw, both looked very tasty. All the best Dave 😀🥾⛰🏴🏴
Thank you Dave. Its another beautiful part of the country.
Cracking area for hill walking. Clockwise for me. Great views to the north of the South Shiel ridge
It’s beautiful up there! I like the idea of going up the stalkers path but coming down the other side might be a bit hairy on wet grass.
Did these 2 last year after seeing what the views had in store. Stunning area. I found them a bit of struggle - i got there but probably took me about 8 hours and that haul up and out of the bealach between the two felt like i had lead weights on my feet. the stalkers path down from gleouraich is probably the highlight. one that deserves a clear day.
I felt it was a struggle getting up to the first summit when the incline really started to increase after the initial walk in. In the end its not really about how quickly you can do it, unless you’re doing some sort of race, but just taking your time and enjoying it. The walk off the second summit was really enjoyable, drinking in the views as we descended.
Loving your content guys.
Thanks Alasdair
Is it safe to take a dog up here🐕🐕
Probably not the best person to ask unfortunately. There are a few sheer drops towards the summit but before that its a fairly broad shoulder for a lot of the way. I would imagine if you kept your dog on a lead and kept it close you might be alright. There are a few Facebook groups for people hiking Munros with dogs, which might be worth a look.
It makes me feel good that you two can't pronounce the names either. I don't know what a fudge yum-yum is but I'm throwing my vote that way. Great drone shots!
We always have a bit of fun trying to pronounce them 😂 but we do try our best honestly! The fudge yumyum was a winner for me as well. Its sort of like a croissant but apparently deep fried and covered in icing. Highly recommended on your next visit to Scotland.
awesome job lads , hoping to do these two at the end of the month ..
Thanks Craig, they are a cracking pair to climb. Hope you get a great day for it.
Excellent as always guys. Fair racking up the Munros now! Awesome drone footage as well, i like the music you have chosen with it. Ive started taking some footage myself, i was wondering where to you get the music from? Thanks!
Thank you! Dougs is getting closer to the end of the journey but I still have a fair few to go. We use Epidemic Sound for the music.
Great video guys. Enjoyed that. Gonna try bagging my 1st munroe in a couple of weeks - Ben Chonzie. Hoping I get the bug for it and continue on from there. Keep up the good work
Thanks! Good luck on Ben Chonzie - just make sure you’re prepared as the navigation at the top can be tricky if the cloud comes in.
Fantastic video , we ran up Earls seat yesterday. Got a little mixed up as to where Earls seat was lol. But a great adventure and we found it in the end. Vlog will be dropping on my channel today. Dropped a sub too, thanks for sharing.
I’ve no idea how people run up these places! Met a few runners on my last solo munro. It was a long day for me, so no idea how they all felt afterwards 😂 I’ll give it a wee look. Thanks for the sub!
@HighlandHikers haha don't get me wrong mate , we have a method lol. Walk the up and run the rest. Ah thanks for that. Wish I'd have saw your vlog yesterday lol so we properly knew for navigation. We came up and over drumgoyne and then back over it to the car after Earls Seat. Absolutely shattered last night 😂
@runningwithstephen Going over twice! If you parked at the distillery then you can bypass it on the way back. The loop I did in this video was great. Once off the hill it was straight along the cycle path, back to the start.
@HighlandHikers yes 🫣. I think a little more research next time, haha. Yes this video was very helpful. Thank you 😊
Great video!
Thank you ☺️
its a shame that people like you tend to poison such an interesting video with alien noise
Thanks for watching!
Nice one Alastair 👍
Thanks Jimmy
I always put my poles away for any scramble.
Definitely a sensible idea!
@@HighlandHikers Three points of contact & all that jazz 😀
carrot cake for the win
Woohoo!! 🥕 🧁
I am so lucky to have had a hiking trip there 20 years ago. I loved every second of it.
Awesome, glad to hear it Peter 😃
Sorry, Alistair. Carrot cake all the way for us. Hope you enjoyed the hills in this area. We really liked the 2 at the other side of the loch. Thanks for uploading, guys.
Thanks Nick! The pair on the other side was a great hike - video coming soon 😃
Brillaint video guys. Well done on bagging a new munro. Loved the Swiss roll lol. Looking forward to your next videos.. ATVB Alan
Thanks Alan! The Swiss roll was yummy 😋
Love the banter lads. Engaging video. Preferred Dougie’s descent method on the scramble (facing in) - but the Swiss roll beats carrot cake imo. Hope to see you guys do the other 3 hills soon.
Thanks Glen! I think Alistair did end up facing in as he got further down - definitely the best way to do it. I have to agree with the Swiss roll, it was yummy 😋 We got the other 3 done, so videos will be out in due course 😃
Love your videos! The only negative is they ain’t long enough and there isn’t enough of them 😂 btw Alistair your looking fab!
Thank you!! Our next video is due to be a bit longer, so hopefully you’ll enjoy it 😄 Alistair is now blushing I think ☺️ He’s been working hard on the fitness recently 💪 - Douglas
Great video , hopefully get to explore there soon, Swiss roll wins hands down :)
Thanks Derek! Yeah I think I’ve got to hand it to Alistair on this one.
Nice Munro in a cracking area did this Munro from the fantastic kinbreck bothy
Oh nice, that sounds like a good adventure!
Great video guys 😀
Thanks Gillian ☺️
Hi Guys. Great video as always, what a stunning mountain. Sorry Alistair but Douglas wins this week. Carrot cake is the king of cakes. 😋😋
Yasss, thanks Dave! Alistair was sure he was on to a winner, so I’m very pleased to have your vote 😄
Super video and a really good look at a stunning area. I'm usually a carrot cake addict but I have to say that waving that strawberries and clotted cream swiss roll under my nose would create a serious dilemma as to which one to choose... I think I'd have to quality test both, to be honest!
Haha, thanks Irene! Both is always a safe option 😄
Nice one Guy's 👍
Thanks Jimmy!
Always enjoy your light hearted video’s. Funnily enough the Beinn Dearg group was the Last Munro’s I did. Look forward to having a bash at these ones myself also. Cheers guy’s
Thanks Timothy! We try and take ourselves not too seriously, so glad that comes across 😀 Hope you enjoy these ones when you get to them!
Great video lads - definitely one of your best. Great banter, great hill, great edit. As for summit food, imo nothing beats a pack of Salt and Vinegar McCoys.
Thanks Glen, much appreciated! That does sound like an excellent summit snack - one for a future hike 😋
Glad to see another video from you guys - You always put out some of the best videos on here munro related. I bumped into you guys on Ben Ledi, always look out for your videos. Hope to see more of them guys! I done these two last March and it was some day, both had a lot of snow on them. A’’Mharconaich deffinitely has a bit more character about it i’d say. Was a great day 🏴🙌
Thanks Paul, we really appreciate it! More coming over the next few weeks after a recent weekend away bagging a few more Munros.
Hi Guys, great adventure, apologies Alistair, but Douglas wins the summit snacks this time out. All the best gents Dave 😀⛰🥾🏴🏴
I’ve upped my game for the next few hikes. The next one I was particularly pleased with
Hi Alistair, what a wonderful day you had in the mountains. No way would Douglas have come up with anything to beat a FULL easter egg! Haha All the best mate Dave
Thanks Dave, glad you agree about the easter egg!
