- Join Alistair and Douglas as they head out for their first hike of 2024, in some glorious winter conditions. The views were spectacular as they completed Ben Venue from Loch Achray.

Great video guys enjoyable banter too. Drone shots excellent. 30 years since I topped Venue.
Thanks Fraser! It’s always nice to get a day when we can fly the drone 😄
Fantastic video as usual like the banter 😁👍
Thanks Gordon! My father in law said to me our videos are starting to become a bit like Still Game. Perhaps we’re the new Jack and Victor 😂
Great video lads hope the pencils kept you going 😂 I prefer the fizzy ones !
Thanks Kevin, they sure did! Ooh, I do agree the fizzy ones are pretty awesome 😄
Just found you guys and I love your channel! I've done a few Murnos over the years but find them intimidating at the best of the times, so you guys put me at ease. 😊
That’s really kind of you to say, thank you ☺️ Hope you enjoy your future hikes 😃
Great video guys! The summit snacks is awesome lol
Thank you! The summit snacks are the best bit about going for a hike 😋 😂 🧁
Thanks guys. Ben Venue is a favourite of mine. So much so when I had my photo taken at the trig point with my dog the photo got transferred onto my mouse mat for work so that anytime I get a tad stressed I look at that mat and it reminds me how amazing the hill is.
Thanks Marco! That’s nice to hear about the photo with your dog 😃
Those of a certain age remember city bakeries yum yums,
The original Greggs, before Greggs appeared in Scotland 🤤
Possibly before our time!
Great video lads - definitely one of your best. Great banter, great hill, great edit. As for summit food, imo nothing beats a pack of Salt and Vinegar McCoys.
Thanks Glen, much appreciated! That does sound like an excellent summit snack - one for a future hike 😋
Ben Venue with blue skies and no one at the TRUE summit 👍sitting eating "yir piece wi a hot coffee" facing Loch Katrine is one of the best days out. Not been out much this year as weather dreech!!, don't mind getting caught in the showers as like you said wear the right clothing, but to start in wet windy cold miserable weather.... not fur me anymore. Enjoyed this video though 👍
Thanks Stephen! Yeah, days like that are great 😃 Sadly we’ve still not managed to get out since then, as every day we’ve had available has been dreech as you’ve said 😢 Today looks to have been good, but sadly other things got in the way. Ah well, hopefully soon!
Beautifully shot; looks so crisp and clear.
Lovely viewing on my lunch break 🥃
Thanks! It was a lovely day to be out in the hills.
Another great video guys 👍
Thanks Scott ☺️
Excellent video, guys. Inspite of the wee'un's superb cameo I would have to go with the yumyum, sorry. Thanks for uploading. BTW missed the Fiona tally count when you pinged the summit. ATB. 🏴🏔👍
Thanks Nick! I didn’t include the tally as we’d both done Venue before, but suppose I could have put it in anyway 👍 I’m at 11 these days, and I believe Alistair has done 8. Atb, Douglas.
Great video guys. I remember Ben Venue was baltic when I did it a few years ago. Look forward to your 2024 videos
Thanks Alan! We’ve still not made it out for another walk yet as it’s been awful weather every weekend since then 😭 Hoping for a better February 🤞
Amazing guys. Absolutely loved that. I've still not done this hill yet. Loved both summit snacks 😅. Even though you did knick your sons sweats 🤣🤣🤣. Hopefully you'll get use of the winter gear. Looking forward to the next one.
Take care
Alan
Thanks Alan! My son has far too many sweets, so it only seemed fair 😂
Nice one Guys 👍
Thanks Jimmy!
Hi I was wondering if you could recommend me a good 3 day hike, my preference is a mix of remote valley, mountain and perhaps end at the coast then head back, any help appreciated
Not something we’ve done before so don’t have any personal recommendations, but I would suggest checking out the Long Distance section on Walk Highlands: www.walkhighlands.co.uk/long-distance-routes.shtml
@@HighlandHikers cheers appreciated
Love to see you guys getting out and doing some winter stuff! It's a shame you didn't have the conditions for putting your winter kit to the full test but still some cracking views nonetheless!
Thanks! Hoping we’ll get out soon with the winter gear, but conditions have been awful the last few weeks 😕
@@HighlandHikers The burden of Scottish weather!
The "Summit Snacks" intro is a winner, it sounds like the theme tune to a 70s American cop duo show. Strawberry Pencils are the winner for me with bonus points for stealing them off a child!
🤣🤣🤣 Thanks Allan!
Hi Alistair, Hi Douglas, absolutely amazing, wow what views, you certainly got lucky with the weather. Alistair wins hands down with the summit snacks on this occasion! Haha
Thanks so much for sharing your days adventure, all the very best, Dave
Thanks Dave, much appreciated!
